{ www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=92741355 } 'Mmmhm, well I miss you too Noni, but what am I s'posed to do?' Dexxie lay flat on her back staring up at the white living room ceiling. The twins were down for a nap and on the floor next to her sat Rory, waiting quite patiently for Dexxie to get off the phone. Hattie Dexton was a talker, that was for sure. If talking was a sport then she'd take gold. Which was weird as Earl Dexton rarely had much to say. Dexxie always figured it was an 'opposites attract' kind of thing with them. 'Fly out? With two baby boys on my own, somehow I don't think that'll go too smooth', Dexxie laughed, rolling on to her stomach while simultaneously rolling her eyes at Rory, 'Sorry', she mouthed at him with a smile. The phone call ended not long after with Dexxie promising that she'd visit soon, though it seemed rather impossible. 'I love that woman with all my heart but seriously, how does she expect me to make that kinda journey on my own?', Dexxie said with a sigh, tossing her phone on to the couch and folding her arms across her chest. It really upset her that her that she hadn't been home in so long. The last time she saw her grandparents was right after the boys were born, and that was only because they'd surprised her and flown up for a couple days.

Rory had come over for lunch. It had been a pretty usual happening as of late; he enjoyed her and the boys' company. Mostly her's, but y'know. Same thing. However, when he'd gotten there, just after a hello and a hug, she'd gotten on the phone with who he immediately assumed to be her grandmother. Of course he didn't mind; who was he to mind something family related? And honestly he really didn't mind at all. Sitting beside her as she chatted with far away relatives was kind of cute. He liked that she was comfortable enough with him to just sit and chat on the phone. It made him feel a bit closer to her which, of course, made him bubble over with joy. Shrugging and shaking his head with a smile when she mouthed that she was sorry, Rory grabbed his ankles and pulled them in closer so he was in 'butterfly' formation. Leaning forward a bit as he pressed down on his knees with his elbows, Rory looked to the boys who were happily swatting away at the air, mouthing made up words and blinking like they'd never blinked before. Babies were odd things. They seemed so happy about nothing. It was adorable, but weird. Snorting at the thought, Rory was a bit startled when Dexxie started talking to him and not the phone. A journey on her own? Well of course Rory's first instinct was to say he'd go with. He'd go anywhere with this girl if his mouth opened faster than his mind. However, somehow, he'd managed to keep control of his tongue. So when the thought passed, it did just that: it passed. But within seconds, it was back. What if. What if he went with her? Her grandparents lived, where, Arizona? That wasn't so bad by plane. Not so bad at all! Or at least, his little knowledge of distance told him so. That might've also been his heart tugging at his reasoning. A trip, regardless of length, meant time with Dexxie. And that was a plus. "What if I came with you?" he blurted out, so quickly, in fact, that he slurred his words together. Not bothering to say it again, Rory looked to the boys and then back to Dexxie. "A baby each," he teased as he rocked forward, catching himself with his hands and then flattening himself down to his stomach so he was laying beside Dexxie. He, however, was quick to prop himself up on his elbows so he could see her eyes. "Totally serious, wha'd'yeh say? You, me, the boys, road trip! But.. sky trip. Because.. that'd be a mighty long drive." A smile was spreading from ear to ear the more Rory thought about this idea. The only thing holding him back was the thought of Kyle, and how he might handle himself without Rory to catch him when he fell. But Kyle was a big boy, he could take care of himself for a week, right? Of course. Rory was very quick to make that decision. Very quick. All he wanted was this trip.

Dexxie couldn't help but laugh at how excited Rory was about this idea that had just sprung in to his mind. Even though he assured her he was serious she didn't quite believe him. Anyone who wanted to go on a trip to Arizona with two very fussy babies must be crazy, right? Still .... Going back home was so tempting.
'Are you sure you're sure?', Dexxie asked, coming to terms with the idea, already planning what she'd need to take in her head. This could be really fun. Difficult sure, but once she got back to Arizona her grandparents would be sure to babysit ... Then she could have some fun. The thought of being able to walk around in shorts and bikini tops pushed Dexxie over the edge.
'Yeah, let's do this!', she exclaimed, jumping up from her laid position and climbing over the couch grabbing her phone on the way. Fingers working quickly she tapped a few words in to her phone and his search.
'There's a plane leaving at 11pm tonight!', she announced.

"Sure I'm sure!" Rory said, a huge grin breaking across his face as he could barely contain himself. This all seemed so fun already. A trip with this chick to her hometown in Arizona sounded like a blast. And he could never say no to warm weather. Even if most of the clothing he owned was sweaters and jeans... Well, he had a chest, didn't he? And no boobs. So shirtless was always an option. "Dude, that's so perfect," Rory said a bit quieter when she mentioned there being a plane tonight. Biting his lower lip, Rory looked at the floor to take everything in. With the money he'd been saving up, he could easily afford tickets. It was perfect.
But shit. Kyle.
"Aw fuck," he whispered, but quickly covered his mouth when he saw the babies. Thankfully he'd only whispered it, but Rory honestly wasn't used to the idea of not swearing around children. Rubbing his hands over his face, Rory looked at Dexxie and frowned. "Kyle," he said in a let down tone. Shaking his head, he added, "I dunno how he's gonna like.. survive without me. That kids a mess." The thought of leaving Kyle on his own was scary. Sure he was seventeen and was capable of handling himself... but what if something went wrong? What if this was the one time where when Kyle called, he actually needed Rory? What if it was life and death? That scared Rory and immediately sent him into protective guardian mode. And it showed as he began to rock back and forth slightly, pondering all the different things that could possibly go wrong.

'If you wanna stay with Kyle that's fine, but I mean, he's got other friends right?', Dexxie replied, looking a little disappointed, she didn't want this trip to be over before it had begun. Of course she understood why leaving Kyle was a big deal, Rory had filled her in on that before, but she really wanted to go to Arizona, and now she felt mildly selfish.
'I could get someone else to come with me, like Crysta maybe, I don't know', Dexxie replied, putting on a smile, even though she didn't much feel like smiling now. There was no doubt in her mind that Rory would stay now that he'd thought about it. The trip did seem too good to be true anyway.

"Oh no no no, Dex!" Rory quickly turned back from his little slump and looked at Dexxie, putting his hands on her knees. "No I wanna go! He'll be fine, don't take Crysta take meeeee!" Smiling, he squeezed her knees a bit and tried to get her to smile. He felt bad for bringing up Kyle.. that was kind of a really stupid thing to do. Looking at it from her point of view, he probably sounded like Kyle meant more to him than she did. And that was.. well it wasn't wrong.. but it wasn't right either. They both meant a lot to him in different ways. And this time, Dexxie's way was winning.
"I want to go on this trip with you. He's got a phone.. if he needs me, he can call me, right? Right. And yea, he's got other friends. Yea. Other friends. Yes," That quickly turned into convincing himself that he could leave the kid on his own. Which he could, it really wasn't like Kyle would die or something. He had plenty of friends that could take care of him. And besides. When had been the last time Rory had done something for fun other than go to Taco Bell at two in the morning?
Arizona sounded like a blast.
"Let's get those tickets," he said with a broad smile.

'Yay!', Dexxie cried out happily, and for no apparent reason smushed her hands on either side of Rory's face and pressed her forehead against his, 'I am excite', she whispered, her eyes wide, and with that she let go of his face, jumped up and ran off in to her bedroom.
A second later she was back, scooping up the twins and rushing off in to their nursery, where she laid them down in their cribs. It would be easier to pack if they weren't in the middle of the living room floor.
'I'll get the tickets, you can pay me back later, I'm going to pack now', Dexxie said, still rushing from room to room.

Rory blushed rather hard when Dexxie put her hands on either side of his face. He smiled as much he could with squished up cheeks (which made his already squinty eyes even squintier), and giggled slightly as she pressed her forehead into his. This had been a good decision. This was going to be a good trip... something he needed.
Smiling still when she let go, Rory sat back and watched as she flew across the room then back where she scooped up the twins and disappeared again. It was funny to watch how excited she was, and the smile had yet to leave Rory's face. As she hurried about, Rory took the time to text Kyle the plans. He waited for a reply which came quickly, saying "how long", referring to the time span of the trip. That was a good question.
"How long we staying down there?" he asked when she had stopped a moment before him. "And yes, packing is a good call. I should do that too."

'Five days?', Dexxie replied from the bathroom where she was gathering all her makeup in to a bag. Five days seemed like a good amount of time. Of course she had to tell her grandparents that she was coming, but she doubted they'd mind, seeing how her grandmother had been practically begging for her to come visit less than an hour ago.
'If you want to go pack, and talk to Kyle and stuff then you can come back here around eight, and then I'll drive us to the airport, 'cause I got the babyseats in an everything', Dexxie added, reappearing from the bathroom a grinning at Rory.

By ten o'clock that night Rory and Dexxie were sat at ate number 15 waiting for their flight to Arizona. Everything was packed, the twins were fast asleep in their little carriers. They were the kind that you wore on your front and the babies sat in. Usually Dexxie wore one on her back and one on her from, but Rory had volunteered to carry Noah. Everything was going smoothly, though Dexxie was pretty tired, and a tad on the stressed side by now.
