Dexxie's House.

[Rory McGough]

"Ugh mine too," Rory said in an overly flamboyant voice as he flipped his head, moving what little hair he had to the opposite side. "I'm going to have an afro-hawk when this dries," he added, pointing at the top of his head as he stepped towards Dexxie a bit. The water was kind of cold, but it was really hot out here (which was weird for this time of month) so it didn't really bother him.

Snorting, Rory lifted a hand from the water to move a couple misplaced strands out of Dexxie's face. "Sorry," he said through a smile, then ran his hand back through his own hair. Then, looking around a bit, Rory added, "I've never been this far south. In America, that is. Its nice down here."

'Yeah it's pretty nice here, nice and warm', Dexxie replied, swimming back a little, 'It's probably snowing or something in New York'. It really was nice to be back in the sun. The Summer in New York didn't seem to last long at all, in Arizona the whole year was basically Summer. Dexxie could already sense that she wouldn't want to go home. Five days just wasn't long enough, and leaving her family was going to suck. At least Rory would be coming back with her, and now they were sort of a thing ... Maybe. It wasn't like they were an official 'thing' now but Dexxie was certain she wouldn't be sharing her affection with anyone else any time soon, and she didn't want to.

Dexxie, unable to think of anything else to say, sucked in a big breath and dipped down beneath the water, swimming to the other side of the pool.

When Dexxie ducked under, Rory moved to the side of the pool and rested his elbows along the edge. Kicking his feet out in front of him, he made little ripples over the surface and tested how high he could lift his entire body with just the strength of his arms. It always amused him how much lighter the human body became in water. He thought it was so neat that he could do a handstand-push up and not think a thing of it. On land if he tried that.. well, he'd probably be dead.

When Dexxie resurfaced across the pool, Rory looked up at the sun. "I gotta take you to Africa some time," he said randomly. "South Africa, anyway." It then occurred to him that she might not actually know he was South African. Heck, most people had no clue what his history was. He looked kind of asian, but kind of not.. and he was Irish but like, only his last name showed it... and South African. What.

'You wanna take me to Africa?', Dexxie asked, raising her eyebrows, and then, assuming that he couldn't quite see her expression she swam back, 'South Africa?', she raised her eyebrows again. Dexxie knew that that's where Rory used to live but she'd never thought much about visiting. The truth was that she didn't know much about the place. It was probably hotter than Arizona, and there were lions there? Dexxie really didn't know.

'Well, if you're paying', she smiled.

"Yea that'd be an expensive one," he laughed. "Would have to call the parents and beg for money." When she was closer again, Rory moved forward off the edge and stood in front of her. He crouched a little bit so the water was up to his armpits and smiled at her. "So are we just not gonna talk about, y'know.. liking each other?" he asked with a shy smile, really wondering how far this crush of hers had gone. Rory had had a crush on her for like.. ever.. and he wanted to know just how much she liked him. Was the selfish? Cocky? Probably, but he was just curious. It kind of felt like a miracle that this girl, this girl he'd liked for maybe years now, had just confessed that she felt the same. Honestly, it hadn't even sunken in yet.

'We can talk about it', Dexxie replied, aimlessly playing with a strand of her hair, 'I just don't know what there is to talk about, I'm so bad at this stuff', she gave Rory a small smile, edging slightly closer to him.

'I think I've liked you for a long time, but only just let myself see it', she admitted, 'I've been so preoccupied with everything else lately that I suppose I just kind of, pushed my feelings to the side, but I don't think I want to do that anymore, 'cause it's kind of lonely', she laughed softly at how soppy she sounded.

Rory chuckled along with her, smiling. "I've liked you for a long time too," he said, mimicking the way she'd moved closer to him. They were only a couple inches apart now, and he'd stood back straight up so he was kind of looming over her. He wanted to say something about 'you don't have to be lonely anymore' or blah blah blah but that all felt way too cutesy and cheesy for them. From what he'd gathered, she was a pretty straight forward girl that just said what she felt and that was that. And Rory was far too 'hip' to say something so chick-flick-ish.

"Is it jumping the gun to assume that we're uh.. like.. I dunno, a thing, for lack of a better word?" he asked, cocking his head back and forth a couple times out of how uncomfortable the question seemed.

'No, that's a pretty fair assumption', Dexxie replied taking a final step forward and putting her arms around Rory's neck, she looked up at him, 'I think I'd like to be a thing with you, if that's okay'.

Though playing it quite cool on the outside Dexxie was beaming on the inside. 'Thing' basically meant boyfriend, so she had a boyfriend now! It was exciting to say the least, and she loved the simplicity of it.

"Oh good cuz I'd like to be a thing with you too," he said, smiling as broad as he had so far when she put her arms around his neck. It hadn't sunk in yet that they were a 'thing', but when it did, he'd either pass out or start running around and hit his head on something. This girl had been his dream for like.. ever. And now they were dating? Was this even real? He'd had such a crush on her, the kind of crush he thought would just stay a crush because it was so strong. He felt like she was a celebrity, y'know? That kind of crush where you crush pretty damn hard, but just kind of expect the fact that it'll never grow into anything else. But here they were, in each others arms, together. It was exciting. And a little hard to grasp.

"What time is it? Cuz like.. when are you grandparents and stuff getting home..." How horribly awkward would it be for them to come home to their granddaughter all up in this random guy's business? He'd only met them briefly the night before and he'd rather not receive a shotgun to the face.

'Oh they'll be gone for hours, knowing my Grandma she'll be taking the boys round to see all of her friends, and all the neighbours. Kyle won't be back from work until at least six, and Liam doesn't finish School until four', Dexxie replied, happy to say that they had the entire house to themselves for quite awhile longer. It was nice, peaceful without the twins. Normally she hated being separated from them but she couldn't trust anyone more than she trusted her Grandmother.

'Why? Are you worried about us getting caught?', she asked, 'I mean, we're not really doing anything', she glanced around them with a smirk on her face.
