{ 29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lud47fKrwZ1qak8x9o1_500.jpg } Beatrice wasn't really sure if driving down to the lake was the best idea in the world right now considering that it was late; she had a fear of going out in the dark after her and Finn's first friendly movie date or whatever it was that they were calling that. But, she just had a feeling in the pit of her stomach that there was something deeper going on with Finn. She didn't really have anything to base this on except for the bruise on his eye but he did have a perfectly plausible explanation for that so why was she having such a hard time believing it? His mother seemed far too kind to ever abuse her son so who else would be doing it? He'd never brought up his father so she kind of assumed that he was either out of his life due to divorce or death which she wasn't going to press on. She didn't have a relationship with her own father because he had chose Esme as his favorite daughter and the others were simply not important which he made very clear to everyone and anyone who even so much as asked how many children that he had. She loved her younger sister more than she loved most people and she wanted to protect her and be there for her but she honestly resented her just a tiny bit for always being the best. She was the best soccer player, the best singer, the best daughter, the best girlfriend and now wife, the best cook.. It was like anything that she did was better than everything than anyone else did. That was of course not true as nobody is perfect but her feelings were perfectly valid, weren't they? She was always second best, hell, not even second best sometimes! Third best or forth best and if she didn't act on this Finn thing quickly than she was going to lose him to someone better like Stormy. She knew that it was immature to accuse her of stealing sperm and having aids but she was so jealous of her. She was a better dancer! She was like Esme part two only not related so she could actually compete with her. She was constantly comparing herself to the other available girls that Finn could have even as she got dressed to drive down to the lake. She had almost done the silly girl thing and changed into something sexy to impress Finn but she just didn't feel like putting that kind of effort into her appearance right now so she stayed in her sweats and didn't even put a bit of make up on or mess with her hair.. What a ball of unattractive frump! Hopefully Finn would understand and not judge her for this.. She normally dressed decently! Okay so the fact that she was showing up with blankets, powdered donuts and a half a bottle of vodka also probably sent the wrong message.... But hey, as long as he didn't see the condom in her purse then they would be good to go! She didn't actually have any intention of having sex tonight but she didn't want to be unprepared if something did happen. Who wants to have a baby in high school? Esme loved parenthood but it was obvious that she had her hard days just like everyone else who becomes a mother when they're still a child themselves. Her thoughts of having sex verses not having sex almost got her lost but she eventually found her way and parked a little bit away from the truck. It looked like Finn's but you can never be sure... She walked towards it slowly with her items in her arms and her breathing was noticeably heavy, "F-F-F-inn?" She barely even stuttered the words out! Was she about to get raped, murdered and chopped into pieces?

Parker hadn't gone to their dad's house this weekend because Cassidy was still over. It was the night before Halloween and Finn had decided to leave early because he had plans.. among other reasons like the fact that he got pissed off with his dad because he went at it again. He'd thrown dishes at him which started it all. After he had gone upstairs to grab his bag and leave, his dad had followed him up the stairs and was pushing for their argument to turn into a fight. When Finn had told him to stop acting like a child, his dad had shoved him against the wall and pushed him down the stairs like a rag doll. That was Finn's breaking point. Before his dad was able to make it down the stairs to him, he'd snatched up his bag and bolted for his truck.
The six hour drive home was near unbearable. He could feel the bruising forming over his shoulders, back and ribs. His shoulder felt like it was about to pop from it's socket so he drove with his other hand to let it rest. His knees and shins hurt and he was pretty sure he had something of a cracked rib. Finn wasn't a crier, he hadn't been for years because of the wall he'd built up to distract himself from what was really going on. Finn drove for six hours back to New York in a silent cab. He'd only stopped once to fuel up, use the restroom and grab a soda for the road. He didn't want to go home yet, and the sign for the lake said the exit was in two miles. That's where he would go.
~
He had been sitting in the cab of his truck waiting on Bee to arrive. He'd seen her headlights when she'd pulled up, and pulled his hood from his head. He had gotten a little chilly so he'd pulled out his dark purple jacket from his bag when he'd gotten there. Finn tossed his phone to the seat, which was almost dead, and hopped out when he heard Bee's voice. He'd winced when he shut the squeaky door to his truck.. good job using your bad shoulder. "Hey, Bee." He said with a little fake smile and ran his hands over his light faded blue jeans. At least his dad hadn't gotten to his face this time.

Finn didn't sound normal on the phone so it was a relief when Beatrice saw him alive and well or at least as far as she could see. She practically tackled him to the ground! "Finn! Oh thank God! I was so worried that you were going to be dead or ...." Or, killing yourself by the lake because you wanted me to be the first person who found your body but that wasn't really considered polite to say to someone, was it? Even if she had a perfectly valid reason for her fears or at least they were in her own head. It didn't take a rocket scientist to see that Finn wasn't nearly as okay as he claimed to be but she couldn't prove anything so all she could do until then was wait and be there for him as much as he allowed. "Oh babe... I was... I thought that you weren't okay and then that I was going to get raped or murdered or..." She could feel herself getting close to the edge of hysterics and she didn't know what she was suppose to do to stop herself. How could she be supportive of Finn when she was being such a mess?
She was literally clinging to his body and crying with her face buried in his neck like some desperate girlfriend. She wasn't even his girlfriend yet! They were yet to define the relationship much to her dismay and her sisters' who were getting 'binn' updates as they called them. It felt so strange to be lingering on the edge of a romantic relationship but not actually going there yet. She had always rushed into these kind of things; she and Bo became a couple the first time that she said that she liked him! But, Finn was special and if he didn't want to be her boyfriend yet then he didn't have to be. She couldn't imagine pressuring him into being in a relationship with her because she was too selfish to wait for him. She needed a couple of minutes to compose herself so she could try and be there for him.
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... I shouldn't be crying all over you when you're... here and I should be making you feel better." Why was she so emotional right now? Nothing was visibly wrong with him! "I um... I brought half a bottle of vodka and some blankets so we can make a tree fort or something to lay under and powdered donuts.... And I know it's silly because I'm wearing a sweater but it's freakishly cold out and I would really like to cuddle with you."

Finn clenched his jaw tight when she pressed up against his body for a tight squeeze. Immediately he had tensed up but hadn't made a noise that would indicate that he was in pain. He hugged her back and was going to make sure that she wouldn't know about his injuries. He couldn't help but feel a little better knowing how worried she was about him and whether she knew it or not, it really meant a lot to him. He had wrapped his arm around her shoulder and was actually smiling now, even though she was near tears. "Yeah, no more scary movies for you." He lightly chuckled and played with her hair.
Bee was so adorable when she acted like this, and she must have really been scared seeing as she didn't let go of him until she mentioned everything she had brought and was carrying. He was kind of curious about that.. But seriously! The thought she had put into it was just flattering and honestly did lighten the mood.. up until she mentioned that she had brought alcohol as well. He had only drank once in his life and he hated it. Hanging over a toilet all night was not the best time of his life like everyone had made it seem to be. He hated the taste, the smell and the effects that it had on a person ~ especially when that person was his dad. Yeah, his mom had a beer or a glass of wine every now and then, but she wasn't an alcoholic like his father was.
Not wanting to offend Bee, Finn didn't comment about the vodka she's brought. Instead, he held up both of his index fingers and told her to wait. He dropped the tailgate of his truck and hoped up into the back. Grabbing two robs in one hand and a weathered tackle box in the other, he turned to her with a beaming expression. "Bee, you're a freakin' genius." With a little leap, Finn jumped out of the truck and landed with a thud. God he regretted doing that with his knee almost giving out underneath him. He shifted all of the gear into one hand and wrapped his free arm around Bee's neck as they headed toward the lake shore. There was sure to be a spot where they could set up a little two-person campsite with their blanket tent, a campfire, and he could scavenge for some logs to sit and fish on. He was glad his mom made him join boy scouts.
It wasn't too long of a walk, but it was a walk. "This looks like an okay spot, dontcha' think?" He asked, hopping down the small bank first so that he could help her down. The moon was flickering from the water that was maybe forty feet away from the good, low hanging tree that he's found. It would be perfect for her tent idea! He sat the tackle down and when Bee had set her things down, he gave into his impulse to hold her. Would that be creepy seeing as they were by themselves and out in the wilderness in the dark? Oh well, if she didn't want him to, she could push him away and he would be okay with it. Finn wrapped her up in his arms as she turned around, and rested his forehead on the top of her head and connected his wrists behind her back. "I'm really glad you were able to come out tonight." His smile faded and his tone saddened. "I really needed someone to be here."

Beatrice didn't consider herself even remotely smart so the fact that Finn seemed to think that she was really meant a lot. She was about to thank him but she decided to just watch him in action instead. Had he been a boy scout? He kind of seemed to know exactly what he was doing right now but maybe he was just a natural.. She kind of wanted to ask him so she'd know just a little bit more about him but maybe that'd be strange considering that she didn't even know about his family aside from the fact that he had a younger brother and a mother. Was his mom a single mother by choice or divorce? Or had his father unfortunately passed away? There were so many things that she didn't know about him that it was impossible to decide on a single one.
All of that could wait... They potentially had years to figure out everything that they needed to know about each other if things worked out like she was hoping that they would. She'd felt the same way about Bo once too though and now they didn't even talk so maybe she was just the type of person who fell in love too quickly and believed that it was real when it wasn't. It was possible that she and Finn would end up together but the chances were logically slim. How many people honestly end up with the person that they fall in love with during high school? She was nineteen for goodness sake! He wasn't that much younger than her but enough that they were really at different places in their lives.
Still, why couldn't she just be happy right now in his arms? Nobody knows what could happen in the future and if things didn't work out then she'd be able to look back and say that she didn't have any regrets. "Hey Finn..." She wasn't sure what she was going to tell him but she figured that she might as well start speaking from her heart. "I know that we don't really know each other that well and there's a lot of things that I still want to learn about you but I think that I'm falling in love you. You call me a genius and you ate my burnt fail cookies and ... you made me feel so comfortable and at home at dinner the other night." Whoa, had she just told him that she loved him? She barely knew him!
"I'm sorry.. I know that it's really really early to say that I think I'm falling in love with you and everything but I just.. I don't know why I said it." She felt so humiliated! What if he didn't handle that well? What if he got offended and told her that he couldn't imagine being with someone like her? She could have just potentially ruined her and Finn's friendship.

In some weird way, he wanted to tell her about his secrets and everything that he held back from everyone apart from Parker and his mom. He assumed Cassidy knew as well because she and his brother never kept anything from the other and Finn trusted her and liked her like she was his own sister. He wanted to be able to trust Bee like he could his mom and brother, he wanted to be free from himself with her and be able to reach out anytime he needed. But his inner thoughts told him not to. Really though, he just didn't know how to be anything but secluded and afraid.
Bee pulled him back to the real world where things were happening and not being dreamed about. There was a tone in her voice that made him listen, like she was about to tell him some kind of super secret undercover master plan or something. But instead, he was given something very different. I think I'm falling in love with you. Was he still off in la-la land or had she actually just said that? He had been looking at her, but as she continued, he dropped his eyes to the ground below their feet. She didn't know him. She didn't know him so how was she falling in love? He wasn't the person to fall for. No one could love him, right? Or did she see past the thick wall he'd built up?
After a moment and realizing that he might be starting to freak her out because he hadn't said anything back. Finn looked back up to her as the corners of his mouth rose just a hair. He hadn't ever been told something like this before from a girl he truly liked. He knew that he felt something for her or he wouldn't have made the call for her to come out over someone else like Jett or Hudson. He wished he could say it back and fully feel what she felt, but he just couldn't. He didn't know how. He had to say something though! Hell, he was just standing there like an idiot deer in the headlights.
Finn dampened his lips with the tip of his tongue, looked away towards the water and then back to Bee. "You're not in love with me..." He started in a somewhat sweet tone. His hands had fallen, but he raised them to brush the back of his fingers against her arm and then down to hold her hands. "You're in love with the idea of me, of someone being there." Finn moved closer to her. "You're in love with the idea of love." That was a good answer, right? He bend his neck down and finished his little speech with a quick but gentle kiss so that she knew he wasn't upset or being rude.
He took her hand, turned around and brought it up over his shoulder and hoisted her onto his back. Holding her just under her knees and making sure she was completely secured, he took off for the water. He knew that it would be too cold to swim in, and he wasn't a huge fan of swimming anyways unless it was really hot outside.. and it was actually pretty chilly tonight. Just before they reached the edge of the lake, Finn came to an abrupt stop and turned his chin up towards Bee. "No, I'm just kidding. It's way too cold to swim." In a swift motion, he readjusted so that one arm was under her back and the other under her knees and her arm around his neck. "I'll make us a fire though, and we can fish once we have everything set up." He smiled at her and headed back to the area he had just bolted them from. Midway through, he set her down and held her hand, their fingers intertwined.

Beatrice almost had a heart attack when Finn lifted her up and carried her to the edge of the lake. What was he planning on doing? She practically had a death grip on his shirt right now and she was not planning on letting go until she was safely away from the water. She'd almost drowned when she was five years old and she kept that intense fear for years. She would have been fine regardless of what happened that day but she was always a more timid child. She didn't like horror movies or walking down alleyways. She was scared of everything! Okay maybe everything was an exaggeration but she did feel like her life was now being consumed by fear and the only thing that was really keeping her from freaking out every single time that she saw Parker, or was in a dark room, was a nice glass of something alcoholic. She didn't really consider herself addicted to alcohol but she just needed it sometimes to get her through the day.
Although, it was getting better now that she was spending more time with Finn... Maybe his presence was making her less anxious all on it's own.. Did that mean that he was her soul mate? She didn't know what she was feeling anymore. He seemed so sure that she wasn't in love with him but she had been positive that she was just fifteen minutes ago. She thought that she knew exactly what these feelings were and then he mentioned that she was just in love with the idea of love which was completely possible. "Finn, I can't swim." It was a random comment, really and she didn't know why that was what had came out of her mouth. Why couldn't she have said something impressive and ingenious so he thought that she was this fabulous person and fell in love with her? Because she wasn't that person.
She wasn't the type of person who made witty comments or had a body that made guys take a double take. She was the girl that guys thought were cute. She was the girl that guys also seemed to believe would be easy despite the fact that she didn't prance around in short shorts and crop tops. It was all because Annabel and Esme had their reputations back in high school so why wouldn't she? She felt like she had to be the noble mature only sleeping with people that she loved type for Lorelai. She hated when people made assumptions about her because of her sisters and it'd only be worse for Lorelai if she had three sisters whoring around in high school. She almost forgot that she was even out here with Finn when he took her out of her little daydream when he set her on the ground. Damn.. She was really liking him carrying her around! "Awe, Finn... I like you carrying me."
She didn't really mind walking that much but something about being held was really sweet. "Ugh.. Are you cold? I'm really cold." She knew that it was probably annoying for Finn to hear her whining about that so she wasn't going to say anything else. She felt like she was going to freeze to death though. She wasn't the type who could really keep her own body temperature so despite wearing a baggy sweatshirt, she was actually shivering a little.

Finn had kicked the rocks away and made a two foot wide dirt pit where he thought would be a good place for the fire. "Yeah, it's a little chilly out tonight. I'll have this baby up and running in no time though." Finn smiled up to her as he put the last rock in place around the circle. He trotted off to hunt down usable firewood which wasn't too hard to do seeing as there was a lot to choose from. He had returned with a good bundle and started to set everything up. He used a mixture of the lent from his pocket and dry leaves to start it. And seeing as he had no reason to carry a lighter on him, he was forced to use the old rock trick; another reason he was glad he was a scout.
Soon enough, it took off and was slowly growing as it caught. Finn had been sitting next to it until it took off and when it was good and steady, he called Bee over. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder which was starting to seem pretty natural to do now that he was warming up to her company. "If you're still cold," he started, looking at the flames, "You can have my jacket. I'll be fine without it." Which was a lie, but he'd suck it up if she really wanted it. That's what you did for the people you liked, wasn't it?
Finn had momentarily forgotten about the splotched bruises covering his arms and frowned at his offer. He wasn't about to take it back, but he was scared that if she took it, she'd see and ask him about them. What was he supposed to say? Oh nothing, my dad just Sparta kicked my ass down a flight of stairs, I'm fine. Lacrosse was an aggressive, physical sport but not nearly enough to cause damage this this so he knew that lie wouldn't work.

"It's so sexy watching you build that fire... You know... Boy scouts turn me on." Beatrice hadn't noticed how horrible that sounded until after she said it.. Fuck, now he probably thought that she was into little boys! "I mean.... Um... Not like current boy scouts.. I'm not pedophile." Oh dear, it was never a good idea to utter the phrase 'I'm not a pedophile' around a person that you want to date! It just didn't set a good tone for the rest of the relationship. Well that was assuming that he would even want to date her. She was kind of getting mixed signals from him. He kissed her and snuggled her which was definitely a more-than-friends behavior but he hadn't asked her to be his girlfriend! It was like he just didn't know what he wanted and it wasn't fair to her to have her emotions dragged around like this. Okay so maybe she'd done that in the beginning when she was still technically dating Bo so possibly she deserved this but that didn't mean that she had to enjoy it, right? She could hate what he was doing to her while totally knowing that she completely deserved it.
When he offered his jacket, she smiled because maybe that meant that he was starting to think more of her than just a friend but if a kiss didn't mean that then sharing a jacket definitely wouldn't. She tried not to let it but her smile turned into a frown. "Yeah um.. If you don't mind." It was probably selfish to take his jacket on such a cold night but he was being selfish, too! He probably didn't want to define the relationship because that meant closing the door on Stormy and any other little hussy that wanted to be with him. She didn't use to be the jealous type, really. She hadn't been jealous at all of anyone who talked to Bo, or looked at Bo, or even touched him but she hated the idea of Finn even thinking of another girl. What was up with her lately? She was so.. nice before! She would never make up such a vicious rumor about anyone yet.. she did.
She had been so desperate to eliminate the competition that she told Finn that Stormy had aids, stole sperm and had five secret children or was it four? She honestly couldn't remember. She was taken back into reality when she realized that she was still quite freezing so she took a bolder move and placed herself on Finn's lap to slide his jacket off of his body. She didn't take a glance at his arms because she was too busy pressing her lips against his neck. If her personality didn't win him over then her vagina would, right? It worked for Esme! But then she caught sight of his arm... Were those bruises? She stopped the kisses and gasped, "Finn..." She didn't really know what she was doing in that moment but she moved away from his lap and just looked at his arms... "What.. What happened?" Had Parker done this to him? Or Dallas? She felt horrible for him! What was it that made things better? A kiss? Yeah, her mother use to kiss it whenever she got a bruise so she did what came naturally - she sort of mothered him. She started planting gentle kisses on each bruise on his left arm like that would somehow make him feel better.
She just wanted to help.

Finn chuckled at her comment about boy scouts and lightly shook his head at how cute she was when she got nervous. He pushed his bent legs so that they were flat in the dirt and just about the time he'd gotten comfortable, Bee was ripping it away by climbing onto his lap. What.. what was she doing? She was straddled over him and was kissing all over his neck is what she was doing! He wasn't prepared for that on any level, and out of instinct he froze, unsure of what to do. Run? Sit there and take it? Bite her, maybe? His breathing shallowed and he decided that just staying put like a statue was the best choice. And then she saw. He done a pretty good job so far of hiding everything with long sleeves and short stories but he knew that she would see everything eventually. He didn't want to tell her the truth behind it but he wanted to tell someone other than Parker and his mom who knew without him saying anything. It showed in the way he walked, sat and held himself all together and that's how Parker could tell something was either wrong or had happened. It took a lot for Finn to trust someone but Bee was slowly inching her way into his life. He felt bad for showing affection towards her and not acting on it like making her his girlfriend, but he wasn't sure when he could render the courage to put himself into a relationship again. He hadn't said anything yet, but Bee was acting motherly and sweet kissing each one. He didn't want to lie. He didn't want her to know either. In a way, it was a lose-lose situation. Lie and deal with his conscience, or tell her and risk losing her. He didn't wish for either, but lying seemed to be the better alternative. If they became something, he could always tell her later, right? Finn cleared his throat, "I'm.." He let off a fake laugh, "I'm really clumsy. My uh- my foot got tangled up in my sweats and I tumbled down the stairs." Finn furrowed his brows for a second and then looked away, then back at his hands in the dirt. "It would have been pretty funny if someone was there to see it." It would have been nice if someone was there to stop it. He thought to himself, keeping his eyes away from Bee. "I'm fine, though. Just clumsy." He offered her a short smile of reassurance before letting it fall.
