Beach house baby. Just Kylie and her parents and little Boshi (her hedgehog) live here. Jett comes home every now and then when he's not at the dorms but he mostly stays on the weekends. Kylie's room leads to the back porch and to the beach where there is a hammock and obviously the Atlantic ocean. <3 Mr. Michael Cadwell - a dental hygenist Mrs. Elaine Cadwell - a nutritionist Michael Cadwell play by Jason Bateman Elaine Cadwell play by Ellen Pompeo Jett Cadwell play by Colton Haynes Kylie Cadwell play by Jannette McCurdy

Andie was excited for two reasons: one, he was getting free food and two, he got to see Kylie. He felt a bit strange meeting Mr. And Mrs. Cadwell.. he felt like he was dating their daughter or something. But he kept reminding himself "its just a friend having dinner, Andie. This happens all the time". But even so, he'd decided to dress a bit nicer than usual. On a daily basis, Andie could almost always be found in a tee shirt and jeans. Its not that he looked bad, but he felt it was too casual. So, to spruce things up a bit, he'd decided to throw on an off-white thermal sweater. Of course he was still wearing jeans.. the boy honestly didn't own anything but jeans and a pair of black suit pants. On his feet were his cleanest pair of red and white Nike sneakers and a pair of black ankle socks.
After brushing his teeth and a spritz of cologne, Andie was about ready to go. He stood for a moment, trying to remember what he'd forgotten. Car keys, dorm keys, wallet.. oh the brownies! Lucky for him, Baker had baked Andie a big sheet of brownies that he'd only recently decided would be the perfect 'thanks for letting me eat your food' gift for the Cadwell's. They were already set to go, packaged in a cute little tupperware container, too. Grabbing them, Andie headed out the door and down to his car.
Address in hand, Andie started down the street towards Kylie's house. It didn't take all too long and before he knew it, Andie had pulled up to quite a beautiful house. Anxiously, Andie grabbed the container of brownies from the passengers seat and went to ring the doorbell.

Kylie had nearly dropped her phone in the boiling water when she had hung up with Mr. Cute Senior Man.. Andie. Her mom gave her a look when she hung up as if she was asking for details but Kylie laid down the spoon and ran to her room to primp. She took her hair back down and brushed through it, she had straightened it when she got home which was needing to be fixed since there was a crimp from her hair tie. While she waited for the flat iron to warm up, she fixed her makeup as well with just a touch up on her eyeliner and mascara - she didn't wear much of the stuff anyway.
By now it was warm enough to work, and she started to run it over small sections of her blonde hair. It was looking rather nice now, and she added a small sparkly clip to hold her bangs out of her eyes. She tapped her finger on the bathroom counter and looked at herself in the mirror. With a second thought, Kylie took the clip out and readjusted her bangs. No, clip, definitely. She finished straightening her hair and tried to calm her nerves down by sifting through her small collection of perfumes and decided on one that smelt fruity but subtle and sprayed it on her neck and torso.
She made her way back into the kitchen to finish helping with dinner. The table out back was already set up and ready to go, all it was missing was the drinks and food.. and Andie. As soon as she picked up a serving plate the doorbell had rung. She was always glad that her parents refused her and Jett of getting any dogs that would now be barking and clogging her way to the door. She begged to her parents before answering it, "Please be nice, especially you, Dad."
She opened it and greeted Andie with her biggest smile. "Heyy! Glad you didn't get lost or anything." Kylie said as she motioned him to come in. She could hear her parents moving the food out back onto the well-lit-lantern-lit porch. She quietly took note of his sweater and smiled to herself at the thought that he felt the need to dress a certain way to come over to her house. "You look nice," She blurted out.
She lead him to the back porch and introduced everyone. "Andie, this is my mom and dad, Elaine and Micheal, or Mike, if you prefer." She paused and looked at her mom first. "This is Andie. My study-buddy for the play." Her mother smiled and welcomed him with 'we're so glad you could join us' and 'sit-sit' while her dad offered a firm formal hand shake. He raised a brow at the obviously older teenager, there was no chance in hell he was younger than a senior. "Andie, is it?" He asked, taking a seat next to his wife.
Kylie knew exactly what was coming. Her parents, mostly her dad, would ask really awkward and personal questions all night, act like they liked him, waive goodnight, and then be all concerned about her and what was going on through her head. She sighed quietly to herself and took a seat. There was an empty chair next to her which she assumed he would take it seeing that sitting next to an intimidating dad seemed a little well.. scary. Or it would be to her if she were in his shoes.

Andie smiled in response to Kylie's own smile when she opened the door. He mused a sweet "what's up" as she said she was glad he hadn't gotten lost. If it weren't for the fact that this was her home and her parents were here, he probably would've picked her up for a hug because that's what awkward giant people do. But he'd made a promise to himself (and to her, sort of) that he'd try to act mature so her parents wouldn't freak out. He was already guessing that they'd assume he liked Kylie and that they'd assume he was at least forty years old. His face was rather mature for an eighteen year old and it didn't help that he was well past six feet tall. Alright so maybe not forty.. but even eighteen probably seemed too old for their fifteen year old daughter.
When Kylie mentioned that he looked nice, Andie couldn't help but blush lightly and look down. Patting his chest, he smiled. "Ah thanks. My mom likes this sweater so I figured your mom would too," he said, readjusting his grip on the tupperware in his hands. "Oh and I brought brownies for dessert," he added a bit awkwardly as Kylie led him back to the porch. Even before he could put the brownies down, Andie was greeted by her parents. First came Mrs. Cadwell.
"You have a lovely house, Mrs. Cadwell," Andie said, still looking around. And he really meant that. It wasn't sucking up or anything.. he was just very impressed. It was certainly bigger than his home back in Boston. Setting the brownies down on the table, Andie turned to be greeted next by Mr. Cadwell with an outstretched hand. Andie had been mentally preparing himself for the handshake of a lifetime as he took Mr. Cadwell's hand.
Eye contacnt, he told himself, just hold eye contact and shake firmly.
After the handshake, Andie took a seat beside Kylie and set his hands in his lap. "Andie, is it?" he heard Mr. Cadwell ask. Looking up from his hands, he offered a smile. "Ah yea, yea Andie. With and IE, not a Y," he said, a cute chuckle paired with his explanation of the spelling. "Its short for Andrew." God he hoped that Kylie's parents liked him..

"Oh, you're too sweet, thank you." Elaine said with a small smile. She was almost as nervous as Kylie about her husband's reaction to their daughter having a boy over. But it was kind of her fault in the first place for telling Kylie to invite him. She tapped at Kylie's leg under the table so that she would stop twisting her hair around her finger and look at her. The two exchanged a smile that signaled her mom already liked him, but she would have lots of questions later.
Micheal was satisfied with this lad's handshake and his offered him a smile as well. "Andrew is a nice name, you know. But all of these new aged teens, yeah I could see where you'd want a nick name." Her dad was kind of a dry guy but at least he was trying for her sake. Kylie spoke up after that, "Andie brought brownies!" She flicked her chin towards the tupperware he had set on the table. "Oh, you didn't have to." Her mom said, "But thank you." She smiled and looked to her empty plate. "Shall we say grace? Kylie?"
Her parents joined hands with themselves and seeing as the table was too wide for Kylie and her short arms to reach, she just took Andie's. "Thank you for the blessings on the table. Thank you for the people gathered here today. Bless this food to our bodies and thank you for sweets. Amen." She couldn't help but smile to Andie as everyone else filled their plates. "Why didn't Jett come tonight?" She asked. Her mom replied, "Oh, he's busy with some friends of his. You know how he gets. Have you met her brother yet, Andie?" She asked, plating up some mashed potatoes.

"Oh I've gone by Andie since before I could talk," Andie said, smiling at Mr. Cadwell. He'd decided to not make any ugly faces.. he wasn't quite sure how to take this man yet. "My brother Bo and I both got our nicknames when we were born. He's Robert, I'm Andrew... Bo.. Andie. I dunno. Cuter for little kids but hey, they stuck."
After nodding to Mrs. Cadwell over her thanks for the brownies, Andie nearly jumped when Kylie grabbed his hand. He knew it was for grace (which was something he wasn't used to.. Andie had never been very religious), but he blushed anyway and coughed into his chest to avoid her parents seeing. But he was sure they did. At least now they knew he had feelings. When grace had finished and they started serving the food, Andie only waited. He figured he should wait to serve himself until everyone else was done.
"Oh yea he's with Danny. I was talking to Dan earlier about it," he added after Kylie had asked about Jett. Turning his head to Mrs. Cadwell, he smiled and said, "Yea I've seen him around. I haven't formally met him yet, but I know his name and I assume he knows mine. One of my best friends, Danny Dubois, is really good friends with him." Once everyone had finished with their plates, Andie reached forward for the chicken and stabbed a piece with his fork. "This smells fantastic," he said, scooping a bit of everything else onto his plate as well. This was honestly the first home cooked meal he'd had in a good two weeks.

Her father just nodded along as this strange boy and started on his dinner quietly observing him. He wasn't exactly sure about Andie yet, but he seemed to make his daughter happy so he figured he would stay on this nice road. He chewed his food and smiled at Kylie -even if it was staged.
"Yes, that would be him." Mrs. Cadwell replied. She was a little worried about their son nowadays. She had noticed a significant change in Jett since he had moved into the dorms and had that freedom she knew he didn't have at home. Recently, he hadn't even visited home which was why she was looking forward to seeing him there tonight. However, she had this new face instead and was almost just as happy.
Before she could speak again, Mr. Cadwell spoke. "So, Andie, how old are you? Junior?" He didn't like the fact that his wife wasn't asking important questions like that. Or what about if he had a job, or what his grades were like or his possible intentions with his baby girl were.. Then again he assumed they would get to all of that by dessert.
Kylie hung her head down and pushed the vegetables around her plate. She actually kind of figured the night would go something like this. She was just surprised it wasn't nearly as awkward as her mind had created and envisioned. When Andie had replied, she was quick to add in. "He's really big into drama club and theatre. He's totally awesome!" She squeaked happily.

Andie ate his food quietly, smiling when Mrs. Cadwell spoke and nodding. The food was so good.. he'd been living off of ramen noodles since he'd run out of frozen homemade meals from his mom. And he could've sworn he had more saved up somewhere.. but Bo probably got to them. When Mr. Cadwell asked how old Andie was, he looked up and tilted his head to the side a bit. "I'm a senior actually. I'm eighteen," he said then took another small bite of the chicken. He could tell Mr. Cadwell was about to bring out the big guns.. and truth be told, he'd already been preparing himself for the 'don't you even think about sex, young man' conversation. It was funny, though, because he was only here for dinner as a friend. Its not like he was here to meet Kylie's parents because they were dating. It was just.. just dinner. Wasn't it?
With one last smile, Andie looked down to tug at his sweater. It was a little itchy. Kylie mentioned his activity in the drama club and blushed a bit. "Thanks," he said in response to her compliment.

Mr. Cadwell nodded thoughtfully. "Senior, eh?" He stated, not really asking. He grabbed a roll fron the basket and munched on it. He looked to his daughter and winked. As far as he knew, Kylie had her eye on this boy so he would do what he wanted to make sure Andie was okay for her. Kylie had forgotten to mention that she and him were only friends, and pretty new ones at that. As dinner continued and was now nearing it's end, Kylie asked if the two could be excused to go to her room. "Door opened, remember." Her mom stated as Kylie stood up. She grabbed the container Andie had brought and smiled which meant for him to follow. She led him into her room and kept the door open as her parents had requested. "That rule is because of Jett. They walked in on him one time with this girl and yeah.. It was kind of weird." Kylie turned on her fairy lights and grabbed a light blanket from her bed. "This is my room, it's not done though.." She wanted to paint or find a painting of a wilf flower field to use against the white wall behing the head of her bed. It smelled like her fruity body spray that she always wore, and was thankfully clean. The door that lead outside to the little oasis in her back yard. "Come on!" She squeaked as she vanished behind the red curtains. When you walked outside, you were almost immediately standing in the sand once you stepped off from the wood deck. She didn't wait for him to catch up, because she was only heading for the hammock which was in sight of the house. He spread the blanket out over the thick rope and sat near the middle. It swayed underneath her and her feet lifted from the ground. It was rather warm for August, which was nice.

Andie was relieved when Kylie asked to be excused. Though he'd been ready, he still didn't want to answer any more questions. Standing to follow Kylie, Andie bowed very slightly and thanked Mr. and Mrs. Cadwell for the dinner. "It was really great," he added over his shoulder as he followed Kylie into her room.
"Ohhoho I dig the bead spread," Andie said upon entering her room. He was all about animal print. But when he looked up from it, Kylie was already heading out the doors (which were fucking awesome.. he'd never seen a deck off a room like this) that lead to the beach. After one quick spin to take in the contents of her room, Andie followed and stopped at the edge of the deck once he was outside. Kylie was heading to a hammock, and he planned to follow her. But he couldn't just yet. He was too struck with awe. Te way the moon lit the beach was beautiful; the way it bounced across the water towards him. "Life can be awfully poetic, can't it," he sort of whispered to himself, placing his hands behind his head for a moment before stepping off into the sand.
"May I join you?" Andie asked a bit shakily, both nervous and scared. He was nervous for the fact that when you sit on a hammock, everything gravitates towards the middle. So, naturally, they'd almost be sitting on each other. He was scared, though, because he'd had some bad experiences with hammocks when he was younger. He always seemed to fall off of them or get stuck in them somehow. One way or another, he ended up hurt. So this whole 'let's sit on a hammock together' thing was kinda giving him the chills.
