Kylie was kind of worried when she didn't see or hear Andie following her from the deck so she looked back over her shoulder and throw the netting to check. There he was with his hands behind his head. She knew exactly what he was looking at because she did the same thing the first night they moved into the house. It was definitely something out of a story book or Hollywood movie. She smiled to herself and gently swung her foot back and forth to move the hammock.
She tried -badly- to hide her smile when he asked so politely if he could join her. "Of course," She smiled and patted the open spot next to her. She was kind of planning on the pull towards the middle but not that she would ever admit to. While she waited for him to sit and get comfortable, she opened the tuppaware container and helped herself to one of the brownies inside. "These are delicious!" She said and offered him the open container.

"I'm glad you like them," he said with a smile as he placed his hands on the hammock, testing its stability. "Baker made them. Baker Atkinson. Do you know him? He's bigger than I am, if you can believe that," he added, definitely stalling having to get on the hammock. But when she continued eating the brownie and offered up no more conversation, he had no choice other than getting on.
Slowly, Andie shifted his weight onto his hands and lifted one leg up onto the hammock rather awkwardly. He smiled at her cutely, assuring that he could do this with no help. Once the first leg was steadied, he leaned forward (putting his face against the hammock) and pulled up the second. He sat for a moment, curled into a ball with his face against the netting, as he balanced himself. "I kinda sorta hate hammocks," he mumbled up at her, still trying his best to smile even though his face was incredibly contorted.
It took a little bit, but Andie finally pulled himself into a sitting position with his legs cross and his hands on his knees. But that didn't last long because before he knew it, Kylie had kicked her feet to make it swing and he'd started to fall. Thankfully, he grabbed Kylie before he could hit the ground. Only now.. he'd just made it weird as the two were laying on the backs, Andie's arms wrapped around her and their faces cheek to cheek. "Oh sorry," he whispered with a chuckle, turning red.

"I don't think I've met him yet, but he definitely needs to hand over this recipe." Kylie gave him somewhat of a strange look when he was so hesitant to get in the hammock. She had kicked off her shoes before he had the chance to climb in and she had curled her painted pink toes underneath her body. Even though she knew she should look away, she couldn't help but watch helplessly at Andie and his insanely adorable attempt to join her.
When he was finally settled, Kylie let one of her legs drop off the edge so she could make the hammock swing. Surely he was able to hold on, right? Right. Oh, no! Wrong. When Andie had lost his balance and grabbed onto her for stability, she let out a strange but excited noise as she took a hold around his torso. She could save him from certain death! Wrong again. He had actually saved her from falling out and getting hurt.
Now that they were laying there, she prayed to God and all the Heavens that he couldn't hear or feel how hard her heart was pounding. Their faces had gotten smooshed together in the balancing act, which might have been awkward for him but she was secretly dancing on the inside. His body was warm and nice too, which made her not want to move. She couldn't just stay like that though, what if he got weirded out?
"Uhm, it's okay." She giggled slightly and pushed herself up from his chest. She didn't completely leave his touch, she didn't want to leave his touch.. or his body heat. "You really don't like hammocks, do you?" She was laughing now, hoping that it would make him laugh at the situation too. What her dad would say.. or worse, do, if he was to walk outside right now. She moved her fallen hair behind her ear and blushed because he blushed. Kylie tucked her bottom lip in before leaning down and resting her head on his chest. "You make a good pillow.. Don't judge me." She had turned to let out a small laugh into his sweater.

"Nah I fell off one when I was little. Bad memories," he laughed, still all red with blush especially as she pushed off of his chest. When she put her head down on him, he practically died. What was this? A crush? No.. it couldn't be. Sure they'd been friends for a long while, but this was only really the first time they'd ever hung out. But he'd already met her parents.. No. Nope. Not a crush. Certainly not a crush.
As she lay with her head on his chest, Andie hoped she couldn't feel his heart beating. For someone who was trying to act perfectly natural and calm, his heart was pounding about a mile a minute. And as much as he hoped she couldn't, he was sure she could feel it. I mean really, her head was right over his heart.
Gently, Andie let out a thoughtful sigh. He'd dropped his feet off the side of the hammock (they reached the ground.. thank you, height gods) and his hands were behind his head as he looked up at the darkened sky. "I put it shining anywhere I please. By walking slowly on some evening later, I've pulled it from a crate of crooked trees, and brought it over glossy water, greater, and dropped it in, and seen the image wallow, the color run, all sorts of wonder follow..." he spoke softly, pausing heavily between each verse. "That's Robert Frost... Do you like poetry?" he asked in a sort of dreamy voice.

So far, Andie hadn't rejected or moved her in anyway so she firgured he was okay with her head being on him. She thought it was adorable how fast his heart was beating, it was almost as fast as hers! She moved her bangs from her eyes and listened to him. The words he spoke sounded so familiar and she couldn't help but smile when she realized he was quoting Frost. She didn't give him and actual answer but instead she smiled and said, "Than oars divide the ocean, too silver for a seam. Or butterflies, off banks of noon, leap, splashless, as they swim... Emily Dickinson." She continued. "She's my favorite," Kylie smiled at the thought of how beautiful his was compared to hers. Emily Dickinson wasn't really a light writer. She was twirling the end on her hair and could feel her own heart slowing down now. The night breeze from the water was warm and inviting with the scent of salt. She pushed off of him, gripped the netting with her fingers and toes like a monkey and climbed out of the hammock. She stood in front of his legs and leaned over him to take his wrists. "Come on!" Kylie giggled and attepted to pull him from the wope swing. She padded over to the water's edge and tested it with her toes. It was a little chilly, but very tolerable. She rolled up the legs of her jeans until they reached her knees. She wasn't planning on walking in the water but it was a good idea just in case. She was much shorter not being in heels but she liked the soft brown sand in between her toes.

{ www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=68940589 } Andie smiled when Kylie started with a poem of her own. A girl that loved poetry almost as much as he did? It must've been destiny. And at that moment, Andie couldn't hold back his feelings anymore. They were true and they were real. He could feel it. Was he going to tell her? Probably not. But he himself had accepted it. When she jumped from the hammock, Andie grabbed on and held tight. He didn't wanna fall off.. how embarrassing would that be? When she grabbed his wrists, though, he was much calmer. It was comforting knowing that she had a hold of him, knowing that he couldn't fall now. He sat forward with her pull and slipped his shoes off before standing in the sand. It was lucky he hadn't put on any socks today. Noticing that she'd run for the waves, Andie smiled and began to roll up his jeans. He stood for a moment, just a few feet from the hammock, watching her. The way her silhouette formed against the moon was beautiful. And not even because it was her.. just because it was truly a beautiful picture. Suddenly, a devious thought passed through his mind as he crouched down and started to run forward. He made a sort of growling sound as he approached, only to have her turn around directly into her arms where he swooped her up from the water. Naturally, Kylie's arms had fallen around his neck and he had his arms wrapped tightly around her waist as he spun with her. After about three spins, he set her back down and put his hand behind his head. "Sorry if that was weird... you just seemed like an airplane for a minute," he said with a smile, digging his toes into the sand.

Kylie stayed in the water, but frowned when she didn't hear Andie following her. She turned around to see where he had run to and saw that he was standing in front of the hammock. She tucked her hair behind her ear and turned back around toward the bay. She missed her family's summer vacations to California, Florida, Cancun, The Bahamas. Jett and Kylie loved the beach so much, they moved to one even if it was a drive. The beaches here were nothing compared to the others she had seen, but she was happy here regardless.
She was snapped out of her day dream about solitary beaches when she heard splashing behind her. In a second she whipped around to see Andie running straight for her! She let out an excited shriek as she was lifted from the water. Kyle wrapped her arms around his neck like it was an old Hollywood film. She was still beaming a smile when he put her down and said she reminded him of an airplane.
"An airplane, huh?" She giggled as she thought through her next move. Inside, she was mustering up every ounce of courage she could as she stepped onto a nearby rock. "Airplanes can't do this, though." She admitted as she leaned in toward his face. Kylie was shaking from her nerves as she pressed her lips against his cheek. After the single second it happened, she looked back up to him, jumped from the small boulder and took off for her house. She was sure that if he wasn't dying from shock by now, he could easily catch up to her.
She bolted through her room and into the living room where her parents were having their after dinner wine. She immediately came to a halt and tried her best to compose herself. She cleared her throat before speaking. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were in here." Her mother watched as Andie followed in behind her and cocked a brow as she smiled. "It's okay, sweetheart." She shot a glance to her husband who's lap she was resting her feet on.
Mr. Cadwell checked his watch and saw that it was nearly nine. "Is your homework done?" He questioned, which was really a disguised 'don't you think he should be heading home soon?' Kylie looked at Andie as she replied, "I finished it after school." He dad nodded and looked to Andie and he stood from the couch. "It was sure nice to have you for dinner tonight," He started and held out his hand for a parting shake. "But you two have school tomorrow."

Andie felt the blush flooding his cheeks as her lips left them. He smiled like a child and brought a hand up to run his fingers across the spot that she'd kissed, looking down at the sand. And when he'd looked back up to return the favor, she was already gone, running towards the house. With a smile and a snort, Andie took off after her. As he ran past the hammock, Andie quickly squatted to grab up his shoes just before chasing her into her room and then into the living space. Not realizing she'd stopped so abruptly, he ran into her and practically knocked her down. Then he noticed her parents.
Straightening himself out and running a hand back through his hair, Andie coughed and smiled. "Sorry.." he muttered as they were asking Kylie about her homework. He knew where this was leading. And he was right. As Mr. Cadwell put his hand out, Andie shook it and smiled. "Thanks for having me over. You have a lovely house. And that dinner?" he patted his stomach and turned to Mrs. Cadwell with a thumbs up, "that was WONDERFUL. Thanks again, Mr. and Mrs. Cadwell."
Turning back to Kylie, Andie nodded his head towards the door signalling for her to follow him on his way out. When they got to the door, Andie made sure her parents couldn't see them. Thankfully, there was a wall between the front door and the living space. "Thanks for inviting me. I had a great time," he whispered just before squatting down a bit and kissing her gently on the lips for only a split second. Backing his face up, Andie's eyes were practically glowing as he reached for the doorknob, opened the door, and left.

{{ www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=71118382 }} She had the whole night planned out. She would go to the homecoming dance and be the social butterfly she was. She had spent nearly an hour making sure that her hair was perfectly curled without a single flaw. Next she did her makeup, which was easy. It was a simple honey shade with a darker outlay, winged tip, and two coats of mascara along with a little smudged eye-liner on the bottom. She had a light pink blush on her cheeks, perfect pink lips, and lavender nails to go along with her blue dress. Speaking of her dress.. there it was, hanging from her armoire door. A sea of blue sequins, ribbon, and sheer. Below were the shoes to match; four inch white, sparkly heels that she had been dying to tromp around in and show off. Kylie looked at the bracelet she was going to wear and admired the stones inside of it. It all looked so amazing when she had tried it on the day before, but she wouldn't be wearing it tonight. No. Instead, she was laying on her stomach on her bed in grey sweats and a batman tank and staring at the gorgeous outfit that was going to waste. "Stupid brother." She grumbled to herself as she made herself get up. Kylie ran the fabric of her dress through her fingers before leaving her bedroom. If she wasn't going to go to her first ever high school homecoming dance, then she was going to do the next best thing.. eat. With her parents gone for the night, she had the whole house to herself. Kylie pulled her pint of Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Shortcake ice cream from the freezer, grabbed a spoon and went for the living room. She plopped down on the suede couch and flipped the television on to try and find something happy to watch. She was so frustrated and bummed out about Jett not taking her tonight. The thought fluttered around in her mind if Andie had gone or not. He probably had, and he probably had a pretty date too. Well, maybe that wasn't the case. He had kissed her the last (and only) time he was over, didn't that mean something? It had thrown her way off into a spinning room of shock and butterflies and rainbows. She hadn't ever been kissed before, but could she count that as her first? It was maybe half a second at that, but it still made her feel all bubbly and left her glowing for days. Now that she was thinking about it, she noticed her grungy mood had lifted. Kylie settled on the Happy Days marathon that was on and ate her ice cream with the sweet thought of Andie on her mind.

Andie sat quite still on his bed as he stared at the clock. The dance had definitely started by now.. he couldn't hear cheering coming from the football field anymore. Why he'd decided not to go this senior year Homecoming was still only half clear to him. Part of his brain told him to just get up, put on that fancy suit and go. But the other part reminded him that if he didn't have Kylie to go with him, he didn't want to be there. Not surprisingly, Andie hadn't had the courage to ask Kylie to the dance. And so, here he sat, eating all of his and Bo's food.
It took a little while, but eventually, Andie got to his feet. He figured Kylie hadn't gone to the dance.. it was a poorly supported hunch. But his assumption was strong enough to make him out his shoes on, grab a jacket and head for her house.
He wore a pair of dark jeans, faded lightly at the knees. They were his longest pair, coming to his ankles with about three inched of spare room. And for someone his height, that was hard to come by. Over his torso was a black tee shirt that had been reverse-tye-dyed with bleach. And over that was a neon yellow zip up which he'd left half open. Before leaving, he'd also pulled a white beanie over his head, predicting that it might be a little cold.
Upon arrival, Andie stood with his hands crammed into his pockets for about ten minutes debating whether or not he should knock. He saw lights on in the windows, so someone was definitely home. It just took a minute before he mustered up the strength to find out if that someone was Kylie.
Finally, Andie rang the doorbell and took a step back. How on earth would he explain himself if one of her parents answered?
