Kandie: working on them auditions

Andie really wanted to get a part in this play. Like, really horribly badly wanted to get a part. It was his senior year and he'd been in nearly all the plays in the previous years, so he felt like he really needed this to finish it all off. He'd originally wanted to go for Peter Pan, but that horse was shot in the face when Ryn had decided she was going to cast a girl for that part. It didn't make much sense to Andie, but he figured it was for the best because he didn't much like the thought of squeezing his freakishly long legs into a pair of green tights. So instead, he'd settled on the part of Captain Hook. Which was perfect, actually, because he'd been talking to Kylie the other day and she'd said she was going to audition for Tinkerbell. It only made sense that the two should practice together, seeing as Hook and Tink had such an important scene together. Andie had gotten to the theater rather early, deciding he'd get the lights up and the curtains pulled before Kylie could get there. Freshman and sophomore year Andie had been on the tech crew, so climbing into the tech box and flipping on the main lights was a piece of cake. Once he'd run to the stage and pulled open the curtains, Andie sat with his feet hanging off the edge to wait for Kylie. He'd brought his backpack which honestly had no school supplies in it.. it was all food. Pulling it forward and setting it in his lap, Andie dug around and came across a half of a Subway sandwich. Smiling, he set the backpack on the stage and began eating. And so, the waiting began. He was in a pair of slightly faded and a bit over-sized blue jeans the hung awkwardly over his thin legs. It was one of those pairs that you can't not wear a belt. On top of that he'd chosen a plain white tee shirt that hugged his torso rather nicely, and over that he'd worn a navy blue zip-up hoodie. On his feet were a pair of gray and white Nike sneakers. Truthfully, he'd dressed way too warm for the outside weather. He would've been fine in a pair of shorts and a tee-shirt, if even any shirt at all. But in his defense, the theater's air conditioning had a tendency to over do it just a bit. He was quite comfortable, actually. Pulling his legs up into indian style, Andie leaned forward on one elbow, his other hand holding the sub sandwich up to his mouth. He straightened his back, a hollow crack breaking out over the empty auditorium. A quick flip of his hair and Andie had hunched back over to take another bite. "Kylieeeeeeeeeeeee," he hissed through a mouthful as he waited.

Why did Jett have to be such a moron? Apart from his crazy fast driving, traffic still had them running late no matter how much she was nagging in his ear about how she was supposed to be at the school already. She had pulled her hair into a messy bun so that the wind from Jett's bike wouldn't get it too messed up. She couldn't walk into the theatre with a rat's nest on her head! She was meeting Andie and he was adorable and.. and.. she just had to be perfect. Honestly, she was a little worried that she was going to fail miserably today. She was going to mess up her lines and make a fool of herself in front of him and feel like poo because he would be so much better than her. Kylie had heard about all the plays and things that he had been in which was a little intimidating for her as she had only been in one.. as a teacup.. in the third grade. When they finally arrived at the school, Kylie quickly hoped off the back of her brother's bike and waved bye to him as he sped off. He had such a bad attitude today! "Love you too," she muttered to herself and she walked to the building. It was a pretty nice day so she figured bold colors were best. Kylie had dressed in a bright red tank, black skinny jeans that unintentionally showed off her curves and black sparkly heels that made her three inches taller. On her shoulder hung a red leather messenger bag that had a Narnia closet full of stuff. Kylie was finally at the threatre and opened the door. She could see Andie sitting on the edge and eating something. She realized how envious she was of him and his Subway when she reached the stage. Dang it! She still had her red and black helmet on. She was quick to removed it and pull her blonde curly hair down as she walked up the stairs and onto the stage. Her heels knocked on the floor as she walked toward Andie. "I'm so sorry I'm late, my brother and traffic.. anways, hi." She said somewhat awkwardly and then smiled at him.

Andie looked up from his sandwich when he heard the heavy footsteps coming his way. He was confused at first, seeing a biking helmet bobbing down the aisle.. but he smiled and giggled a bit when it was removed and a Kylie appeared before him. He watched as she walked up the stairs, noting her outfit. She looked rather nice and here he was in a pair of jeans and a hoodie..
"Hi," he offered up through a mouthful after she rambled about Jett and the traffic. "You're not late, I'm just early. As always. OCD will do that to you," he joked and pushed himself up from the stage so he was standing. Even with her in heels, Andie still towered above Kylie by more than a foot.
Taking another bite of his sandwich, Andie noticed that her eyes had locked to it. "Are you hungry?" he asked, covering his mouth so he didn't spew crumbs all over her. "I've probably got another one of these in my back pack.." he crouched down and started digging around his bag, shoving the last piece of his sandwich into his mouth. "AHA!" he announced, pulling out another half of sandwich. "This ones turkey, lettuce and tomato..." he handed it up to her. "Go on, I don't bite," he said with a smile.

When he rose from the stage, Kylie couldn't help but giggle on the inside because of the little butterfly tickles in her stomach caused by him and his presence. She first felt it when they started talking in drama, and they still hadn't left. Who couldn't though? He was just too gosh darn cute.. and him offering food was always a good thing right?
"Ah, you don't have to!" She replied. She hoped the nervousness in her voice wasn't completely obvious. She bit on her bottom lip for a moment before taking the sandwich from him, "As long as you don't bite." She unwrapped it and took an unusually small bite, a nibble if you would, followed by a satisfied twirl. "Thank you, Andie." Geez, she was so awkward!
Maybe it was because this was the first time the duo had actually been alone together or the fact that he was eighteen and she was just fifteen.. either way, she enjoyed his company and found him quite comforting. She fluttered her eyes to the ground when she caught herself staring intensely at Andie. "So, uhm.. lines." Holding the turkey sandwich in her left, she dug in her Narnia bag for the Peter Pan script. "You're going out for Peter?" She asked. "No, wait.. Hook, isn't it?"
When she pulled out the papers from her bag, a chocolate almond Hershey bar fell out and onto the stage floor by her feet. Now he is going to think you're a closet eater! Good going, Kylie. She thought to herself as she picked it up. "Would you like some? It's only fair because you gave me some of your sammich." Kylie stepped closer to him, which gave her even more powerful butterflies.

"YOU WELCOME," he said in his best black lady accent, before snapping in the air then looking back to his bag. She'd started digging in her bag for what he assumed was probably the script, so he figured he'd do the same. Upon pulling his out, a candy bar smacked the floor. When Kylie asked if he wanted any, he shook his head. "Nah almonds don't really do it for me," he said with a polite smile then began flipping through the script.
"And yea, Hook. I was gonna try for Peter but green isn't really my color," he added after a moment of thumbing through the pages. He stopped when he found the main scene between Hook and Tink. Clearing his throat and dusting off his chest, Andie stood and looked at Kylie. "Page five," he said with a smile, still brushing crumbs from his tee shirt. For someone that had been eating rather carefully, there were sure a lot of crumbs all over him.
Andie was excited about this afternoon. He and Kylie had talked many times before, that much was true. But this was really the first time they'd been together, one on one, no other theater nerds around to distract them. She was a cute kid and Andie admired how sweet and innocent she was. A sight for sore eyes, seeing as almost all the other girls around this school were either moms, pregnant or sluts that were bound to get pregnant. And here was Kylie, fifteen year old Kylie, that seemed barely capable of hurting a fly. And if she liked chocolate and Subway.. well that was always a plus, too.
"So I figured we could start with the scene where Hook is telling Tink that if she leads him to Peter, he'll get rid of Wendy. Cuz you wanted to audition for Tinkerbell, right?" he asked, running a hand back through his hair and looking up from the script at her.

Kylie put the heavenly little chocolate bar back in her messy sack of goodies. If she was anything, it wasn't OCD and she let the thought tinker around in her mind to have him reorganize everything of hers but quickly decided against it. "Yes, Tink. I'd make the perfect Tinkerbell." Oh! Now he's going to think you're conceited! Save it, save it. "I mean, I'm sure there are better girls out there, like Thaliana or Genevieve or someone.." Nice one. "I just really want the part."
She kicked at herself for rambling on and on like that but it wasn't her fault that he was so distracting! I mean c'mon, that thing he did with his hair was just too gosh darn adorable. She flipped to the page he had directed and straightened out the wrinkled pages. "Do you want to start? or should I?" Kylie was a little hopeful that he would so she had time to get into character. She scanned over the lines and saw that Tinkerbell had the first one. "Oh, well I guess Tink goes first."
She headed for the center of the stage after she dropped her bag near the edge. She went ahead and started, quickly getting into character. It was a lot easier with him, especially now since they were just by themselves and there weren't any other distractions. Things were running smoothly on her part and assumed things were okay for him aswell.
Tink had to go up to Hook and whisper something, which Kylie did until she was.. face to neck with him. She got kind of nervous and broke character when she looked up at him, then away and blushed. "Sorry." She bit down on her bottom lip as she studied the folding lines on his jacket. She was kind of giggling to herself at the thought of being this close to him.

Andie smiled when Kylie began her lines. Folding his arms, he kept a close eye on the script as he listened to her. For a nervous freshman, she was doing rather well. Her mannerisms fit Tinkerbell quite perfectly and he only noticed something was wrong as she approached him. Just the way she stepped and seemed to pause, he knew something was up. And there it was, she completely froze, broke character, and apologized. Andie couldn't help but smile.
"Its alright," he whispered, moving towards her as she moved away. She hadn't gone too far, though, so he only had to take a step. Now standing only about an inch apart, Andie's eyes fell back to the script. He made a sort of "aha" noise as he read over the fact that she had been approaching him for a whisper. Noting the height difference, Andie knelt down on his right knee and looked up at Kylie.
"You were saying, Tink?" he grumbled in his best groggy pirate's voice. He offered her a wink, too, and a smile to ensure her that everything was alright and that she could carry on. But he noticed the blush across her face and couldn't help but look down out of fear of her seeing his own red cheeks. He coughed lightly, thumbing ahead in the script a few pages then back to page five. Other people blushing always made him blush too. Especially when it was a girl.

Kylie nearly collapsed on the inside when he knelt in front of her. He was just so sweet and she was truly struggling with this hiding stuff. She didn't want to hide the fact that she was getting so many butterflies in her stomach and she was feeling all giddy. He was just helping her with her lines, right? She needed to calm down, regain her composure and get into character. What if she was annoying?
She closed her eyes for a brief second and brought Tink back out., or tried. She was kind of wondering why he was looking down instead of at her. Hook didn't do that, or at least that's what the script had said. But that wink! and his smile! C'mon! Kylie tried to continue on. It was going well and smooth again until she did her little Tinkerbell twirl - like the script said- and twirled a little too close to him. She felt her little foot, but big heel on the top of his foot and her eyes widened.
"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" She asked, once again breaking character. She dropped her papers and covered her extremely reddened face. "I'm so sorry, Andie." She mumbled through her cupped hands.

Andie was rather impressed with how easily she went in and out of character. That was always a good sign. But as hard as he was trying to concentrate on her acting, he couldn't help but tilt his head and smile when she twirled. It was just too gosh darn cute. And she.. well she was damn near beautiful.
What? No.. Andie no, she's a freshman!
But before he could have any more inner conversations, a rather strong, sharp pain had shot from the bridge of his foot, up his shin and over his thigh. Biting his lip in pain, Andie squinted and looked down at the heel piercing his sneaker. Thank god it was removed. But oh no, here was Kylie apologizing again. And something told him that the visible pain spread out over his face couldn't be shaken off by going back into character. He'd have to be real about it.
Quickly getting over the pain, Andie stood and began rattling off about a million "its okay its okay I swear I'm fine!"s. But, noticing how red she'd gotten and the fact that she was hiding behind her hands, Andie did what he did best:
He hugged her.
Quite forcefully, too. It only took a second before Andie had thrown his arms around Kylie and pressed her face to his chest (accidentally of course). "Kylie," he cooed with a smile. "Seriously. Its okay. I might just need surgery." Oh, bad joke Andie.. He felt her whimper into his chest and shook his head. "I'm sorry that was no place for a joke," he said, though still smiling.

Kylie was almost in tears by the time he was telling her that he was okay. She looked up to him but found her face being shoved into his chest with her arms curled up between their two bodies. She was suddenly feeling much better and forgot what she was thinking. He was so warm and comfortable and she nearly had a heart attack from being so close to him. She tried to stifle her laugh from his joke, but it just sounded kind of pathetic.
When she pulled away, not completely but just enough to see his face, she smiled because he was smiling. "It made me laugh." She said, her voice a little shaky but at least she didn't feel as bad for stepping on his foot. Kylie realized that he hadn't let go of her and that really didn't help with her red face. If he asked, she was going to blame it on her clumsy embarrassment. She gently tucked her hair behind her ear and stepped back as if she knew what she was doing.
She cleared her voice and rubbed her arm, "I think it's safe to say I can't twirl very well." She offered him a crooked smile as she picked up her script from the stage floor. She didn't try to look at it because honestly, she didn't want to. She kind of just wanted to hug him again but she couldn't do that. That would be weird, right? "You give really great hugs." Really? That was just.. uhg. "I mean.. I'm sorry I stepped on your foot." Kylie smiled up at him even though it never went away in the first place.
