Addie didn't think that she could ever feel as comfortable around anyone here as she did right now with Kye. He made her feel more at home than any place in the world ever could. People seemed to have this assumption that home has to be a place where you live or where your food is at for some people like Isabel. She obviously saw it a little differently - she believed that home was just where you felt the most comfortable. It wasn't always a specific place and in her case, it was just the company with her. She knew that she would feel just as cozy in a trashcan if Kye was right there beside her. She hadn't felt like she had so much hope in a really long time and she honestly wished that there was a non-insane way to thank him for everything that he was doing even if it wasn't intentional.
She was about to tell him that he didn't actually need to eat the disgusting pathetic mess of burnt marshmallow on the stick but he'd already ate the goopy mess. She couldn't even try to hold back her laughing fit when she noticed that he had goop on his hands and face. Why didn't he just ask her for a wet wipe from her purse? She seemed to forget that he couldn't possibly be aware that she had them since she hadn't told him and he didn't search her bags like she'd done to his though she had been looking for something with his permission. "Hold that thought, dear.." She gave him back the smore while she reached into her bag to grab a wipe She didn't even ask for consent from him before using it to clean off his face for him. "Much better." She liked him so much better when he was clean plus she was pretty sure that he would get covered in ants if he slept like that.
She tossed it aside before reaching to take her smore back from him. She took a small bite and was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't taste like burnt fire. "This is actually really fucking good." She didn't finish it though mostly because her stomach was in far too many knots right now to even think about eating an entire smore. She needed to get her words out or she would risk losing her appetite for the entire adventure. How would she have fun if she was too busy thinking about how she didn't know what Kye was feeling for her? Love? Mild liking? Tolerance? Calling her the best high definitely knocked off pure tolerance but that still left liking and love. There could be a big difference between what he was feeling and what she knew that she was feeling. She knew in her heart that she was falling in love with him and it felt like the best thing that she'd ever gone through.
"Hey Kye..." She paused as she tried to think of a proper way to tell him what she was thinking. "Do you believe that there's any chance that a wonderful handsome guy could ever look at me and want me? I mean for more than just looks or initial attraction. Do you think that anyone could hear about my history and not find me completely revolting to date?" She just hoped that he picked up on her silly hint. She wanted him to say yes or maybe, confess that he had hidden feelings for her. They could be the new couple, ruling the school together by spiting on anyone who got in their way unlike those other mushy couples who just passively lay back kissing in the shadows. They wouldn't lose themselves to each other.
