It really wasn't Archie's favorite thing to do, but he had promised himself that he'd try and be more social this year, and this was a big step. There were only a handful of people that he'd spoken to before, but plenty of familiar faces which made him feel more at ease. Most of his day so far had consisted of driving and then pitching his tent, which was harder than the instructions made it out to be. Now he was sat in the mouth of his tent watching others struggle with their tents and finding it rather funny. You could tell the people that had never been camping before from the seasoned professionals. There were actually girls walking around in ugg boots and leggings, not what you'd call camping gear. Then again, what did he know? The last time he went camping was years ago when he and his brother ran away from home, and it had been a less than pleasant experience. Their camp was quite near a lake, which would have good for swimming, if it was summer, and if he could swim. Still, it was pretty to look at. A welcome change from the city scenery. Standing Archie zipped up his tent and wandered off to the edge of where the woods grew thick and dark. It was creepy, and he loved it.

[will make set when I have my laptop ]
Camping had always been one of her favorite things to do, though she didn't usually camp for long periods of time. Addison loved to go hiking and sometimes that required staying overnight just to get to her destination. So when the school had advertised a group camping trip she couldn't pass it up. She loved being outdoors even if the winter wind was a bit nippy. While she usually took a bus or hitchhiked a ride to get to the base of her trail, she decided to just drive herself. There were multiple kids there who probably didn't know a thing about camping. She tried not to scoff at the sight of what some of these girls were wearing.
Addison might've had a pretty face, but she was no fool. She wasn't trying to freeze, and she wasn't planning on sticking by the campfire all day either. Where were peoples' sense of adventure?! People could be so boring nowadays with all the technology. She had her phone too with an emergency battery pack, but aside from that she wasn't attached to the outside world. She had sent her father a text where she was going the day before and he just wished her to be safe, but wasn't she always? Okay, so sometimes she could be a little reckless.
She walked further into the area and scoped out a good spot that wasn't too exposed to the elements. She found a pretty decent size area and examined it further just to be safe. She set her supplies and bag down with a slight thud before rubbing her shoulder softly. She forgot just how heavy things could get. It had been awhile since she'd gone on a good distance hike and she was a wee bit out of shape as far as carrying things went. Going on runs could only help her with endurance. She'd been lazy with the strength training.
She glanced around and tried to pick some familiar faces in the crowd but could spot no one. Well, this was going to be fun. She went to work setting up her tent, even though she just wanted to go off and explore. She couldn't help but laugh as she watched several people have the struggle of their lives trying to put their tent together. She found putting a tent together rather easy, but why not make friends. She spotted a rather attractive male sitting in his tent who looked just as amused as she was. "Hey!" She called out to him, though he wasn't very far. She waved her hand about in the air trying to get his attention. "Mind giving a girl a hand?" She asked, a huge smile on her face that didnt feel out of place on her friendly exterior. Worst that could happen was that he'd just say no and she'd put her tent together just fine on her own.

When Archie heard a girl calling over in his direction he assumed there was another person behind him, he even looked around before turning his attention back to the girl who was now waving at him. When she asked if he minded giving her a hand he shrugged and stood up lazily striding over his hands buried deep in his pockets. The girl was familiar, but he didn't know her name, but with how friendly and smiley she looked, he really wanted to find out.
'Hey, just need a hand putting your tent up?', he asked, though it seemed like the only thing she could need a hand with. In fact it was a stupid question, he smiled hoping she didn't think he was an idiot.
'They can be kind of, temperamental', he smirked, glancing back at his own tent which was a little on the wonky side, but still suitable to live in.

Addison let out a raspy laughter as she watched his reaction. Of course she had been talking to him, who else? He seemed so relaxed as he just approached her with ease. Now that she was looking at him he looked really familiar. Well they did go to the same school so that was no surprise. "Yeah!" She said in response to his question," unless there's something else you'd like to help me with?" It could t been taken as suggestive, because it kind of was. Unless he wanted to help start a fire or anything for her, but that really wasn't what she met.
She pulled the tent out of it's packaging and placed the parts out to see. She knew what each part was supposed to do and where it went, but another hand couldn't hurt. "Oh I know," she laughed before pointing to a group of struggling girls," I bet they wish they had some help now too" she wasn't suggesting he ditch her, it was a mere observation. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked up at him. "You look really familiar," she decided this would probably be a good time to introduce herself," I'm Addison by the way." She gave him her signature goofy grin and an extended hand.

'Well, as cynical as it sounds I'd rather watch them struggle from afar', Archie replied, looking over at the girls and shaking his head. They were having trouble getting the tent out of the bag, God only knew how they'd handle the rest of it.
'Yeah, you too I'm Archie', Archie reached out to shake her hand and mustered up his best grin. Taking back his hand he walked around the tent and picked up one of the poles and started threading it through what seemed to be the correct hole in the tent fabric.
'Did you come here with a group, or a boyfriend, girlfriend, or anyone?', Archie asked, curious, as Addison did seem to be going it alone, like he was. Most of the other kids were sharing tents and arriving in big groups.

Addison nodded in agreement as she cringed at the sight of one of the tents, if you could even call it that. The instructions could only help someone so much before it was useless. They would figure it out eventually, or if they asked she'd probably help them. She wasn't against helping people, and she didn't exactly want to hear whining all night coming from them. The trip was turning out to be a little better than she had initially anticipated. If not for him she probably would've already set out to explore the area and it's beauty. Asking him to come over had been a good choice indeed.
She was someone who was always smiling, and even now as she set the tent up the corners of her mouth was turned upward. "Well it's nice to meet you Archie!" She said only glancing up from her handy work for a second. He was very attractive and it was no surprise the girls across the way were giving him some looks. She hasn't come on this trip to hook up, but having a companion for a trip wasn't exactly a bad idea. Maybe he'd even be up for looking around the area or a good hike. Worth a shot to ask later perhaps.
Addison noted that he seemed to have a solid foundation on how a tent worked. Good, she didn't know if she could watch someone struggle in front of her. She wondered why she hasn't seen more of him, he seemed about her age or perhaps older. "Nope! Just me, myself, and I on this trip," she joked as she watched the tent start to resemble a shelter. "What about you, or are you taking a solo trip also?" She asked in pure curiosity. Okay, so she might've been trying to see if there was a girl back home she wasn't aware of. No harm, no foul right?

'Sort of', Archie replied, struggling a little to get another tent pole in to its allotted spot. If it were his own tent he'd probably be using brute force on it by now but he didn't really want to leave Addison without shelter, that wouldn't make a good first impression. Instead he struggled on trying to keep himself from looking completely frustrated.
'I came on the trip to meet more people, I feel like I've been a bit of a loner lately', he admitted having finally gotten the tent to do what he wanted. Proudly he stood back to admire his handy work, nearly half of the tent was up now. Grabbing a couple of tent pegs he crouched down on the ground and began securing half of the tent to the ground. Luckily the ground was sort of soft so he didn't need a mallet.
'So far it seems to be going well', he added, glancing up at Addison and giving her a sincere smile, 'It usually takes awhile for people to even notice I'm around'.

Addison hadn't really looked up much from her work. She knew what she was doing, but she didn't want to risk looking like a fool in front of him. She was a good impression too! She let a soft giggle leave her lips as she caught Archie out the corner of her eye almost man handleing her tent. She'd had this tent long enough to know its little tricks. If you kept good care of your equipment then it tended to last much longer. Plus equipment was expensive! No need to throw money away when you could just give it a little TLC.
The tent was about half up, and it wouldn't take long for the rest of it. "Well you'll be surrounded by people on this trip," she informed him, skilled hands at work," so you've made the right choice coming today." She hadn't come for the people finding it alright to be on her own. He did seem like a lone wolf kind of guy when it came down to it. He was just so mysterious and she was curious. Combination for disaster? She didn't think so.
She beamed down at Archie when he smiled up at her. He was quite the fellow. He just seemed too cool. Obviously they were going to get along quite well. "One person off your list," she joked placing another pole in place with some concentration. She finished the last of hers and glanced down to see that he was almost done as well. The tent looked great! "Really? You were the first person I even noticed," she said with a shrug and a smile as she placed her hands on her hips.

Archie stood up and brushed a bit of dirt from his hands on to his jeans. They were pretty dirty anyway. The kind of dirt that didn't really ever come off, the jeans were old, in fact Archie was sure they were his brothers... Maybe even his dads. Regardless he didn't really care for them.
When Addison said he was the first person she noticed he let out a quiet laugh and looked down at the floor, 'Really?', he asked smirking to himself. Over the years you sort of got used to being ignored, or if not ignored then noticed but rarely spoken to. It was nice to be noticed for once.
'I have to admit I didn't see you arrive, I was too busy checking out that chicks Ugg's', Archie continued looking over at a girl in the distance who caught his eye at the same time and looked a little startled before getting back to work on her tent.

Addison turned to the direction he pointed and her eyes took in the sight of some sparkly uggs. That girl wasn't serious was she? "Oh yes, she's fabulous," she said with a slight eye roll and flick of the wrist, giving a little tude. She wasn't exactly offended he hadn't noticed her, but it just wasn't what she had expected. "Sorry I wasn't worried about my fashion and thought about being practical." She motioned to her warn in hiking boots that were actually quite comfy. She was just joking as she let out a cheeky grin when the girl across the way blushed and went back to trying to assemble her tent.
She nodded at her tent again, not a pole out of place. "It looks great," she commented," thanks for the help. I think we made a great pair!" She wasn't really paying attention to what she was even saying, she never did. She usually just said whatever was on her mind and it sometimes got her in trouble. She glanced about again and noted there were more people rolling in, mostly in large groups.
She turned on her heels to face Archie, a pleasant smile on her face. Chocolate eyes were focused on him. "So, what were your plans for the day?" She asked before catching herself," unless you wanted to meet more people...?" She wasn't trying to lock him into plans with just her, but she enjoyed his company. It was different.
