'Do I have big plans?!', Tyler's face had suddenly lit up, colour flooding back to his cheeks, 'It's going to be Violet's first Christmas!', he grinned, quickly he swooped his head down smattering his little girl with kisses. Now he wanted more than ever to be out of Hospital and back at the apartment, he needed to get things ready, he didn't have long.
'Can I like, leave now, or what?', Tyler asked, glancing around as if the doctor would magically appear.

"Oh!" Lina didn't exactly know when Violet was born, which was probably a bad thing, so she had no clue that this was her first Christmas. Now that she thought about it, though, Tyler had probably mentioned it at one point... "I'll help you, if you want. We could decorate or something." She smiled, and looked around. "I think you can leave... I don't know."

Technically speaking Tyler wasn't meant to leave Hospital for another 48 hours, but with a little persuasion the Doctor let him out. After all, it was the Holiday season, and Tyler made the valid argument that he'd been in the Hospital for long enough, and he felt fine, which he really did. Once he'd gotten changed, in to some lost and found clothes, as his were in tatters after the shooting, they were ready to go. A Nurse stopped by the room and taught Tyler how to change his bandages, which is when he got to see the full extent of his damage. Luckily though the bullets hadn't messed up his chest piece, so that was good. Although when he first saw himself with his shirt off in the mirror it made him feel a little bit sick.
-
Soon enough they were walking out of the Hospital, Tyler with a smile on his face and Violet balancing on his hip. The Nurses had insisted that he take a wheelchair with him, but he refused, he really didn't feel like he needed one. One outside he inhaled deeply and did a little spin, making Violet giggle loudly, 'Fresh air!', he shouted happily.

Lina was excited to see him up and moving about. He seemed a changed man, now that he wasn't hooked up to machines. They were tying him down, before, but as soon as they were off, he lit up right away. Especially when he got to hold Violet - that's what made him happiest. She grinned when he refused the wheelchair, a rebel as always, and they walked outside. His spin made her a little nervous, but he had said before that he felt fine, so she wasn't going to question it. She was just along for the ride, enjoying the day! "Where to now?" She asked as they walked to her car, Violet's car seat already in the back.

'Well...', Tyler began, opening the car door and fastening Violet in to her seat, he'd been thinking over what they should do ever since he found out it was December. Making sure that Violet was secure he got in to the car himself and buckled up.
'I'm going to call my mom to come and get Violet, and to see that I'm fine and stuff. Then she can babysit Violet for a couple days while I get fully better, because I think you probably need a rest, right?', Tyler smiled, but didn't stop speaking for long, 'Then I figure I need to tidy the apartment, decorate it, go Christmas shopping and also learn to bake'.

Lina was a little shocked when he said he was going to call his mom. "Oh, that's a good idea. I was thinking about that earlier, since I knew you probably shouldn't take care of Violet on your own before you were fully better." She left out the part about thinking that she would take Vi off if hands for a little bit. She knew his mother was probably worried sick, and it wasn't her place to assume that she could just keep taking care of her. "I do need a rest, I suppose." She got into the car and looked back at the baby, all happy and tucked in.
"I can help you with decorating and stuff." She suggested with a smile. "My mom isn't coming home this Christmas. She's too busy working in Cuba, and the flight would be too expensive, so I'm pretty much free for the whole holiday." She said slowly, thinking it over. "I mean, I don't want to be a bother, but I'd love to help you set up. I can't promise anything about teaching you to bake, though."

'You should just spend Christmas with us then', Tyler replied, not really thinking about how big a deal that could be. People their age didn't really do that, did they? Have a family Christmas, just boy girl and baby ... Tyler knew that his mom would probably want him to come home at some point over the Holiday, but he really wanted to try it out for himself, he saw it as the ultimate dad challenge. Even though Violet probably wouldn't remember anything about it in years to come, still, he'd take pictures.
'It'd be fun', he added with a little shrug, even though by now he'd realized what a big deal it was, and he was silently panicking. What if Lina thought he was rushing in to things? It was polite though, right? Tyler figured if her mom wasn't going to be home then she'd need to have Christmas somewhere, why not his place?
As Tyler spoke he dug through his backpack looking for his phone, when he turned it on he was happy to see a lot of get well messages, and the little battery at the top of his phone showed he had three hours charge left, sweet! With a few swift taps of his fingers he had sent a text to his mom explaining everything.
'I told my mom to meet us at the mall, is that cool with you? She has everything she needs for Vi at her place, so there's not point going to the apartment'.

Lina smiled shyly when he said that she should spent Christmas with him and Violet. That little invitation sent her heart racing, a blush coming to her cheeks. That was kind of a big step in their relationship, right? Not as big as her spending the night or anything, but spending a holiday was sort of getting there. They'd been going out for quite a while, longer than she'd ever had a relationship before, so it was a nice surprise to be expected to hang out over the holidays.
"I'd love to spend Christmas with you guys," she said, turning the car on and pulling out of the parking space. It was pretty busy at the hospital today, which was probably a bit morbid, so there was a bit of traffic before she was finally out on the road, heading in the direction of the mall. "Sounds like a plan. I've got some money on me, we could shop around." She said, thinking about it. Oh dear, Christmas meant gifts - for Tyler and for Violet and for her mom and her aunts and all of her family. It was stressful.

'Yay Christmas together!', he beamed clapping his hands together. 'Well, assuming I've been getting sick pay during my coma, I'm pretty much rich', Tyler replied with a grin, he guessed there was some advantage to being shot. A full months wages with no actual work? Score!
'I'm starving, and these clothes suck', Tyler announced as the car slowly crawled through traffic. All that time being asleep had made him really figity, all he wanted to do was move around, hopefully it wouldn't take too long to get to the mall.

The traffic was slowly thinning, and soon enough, they got to the mall. It really only took ten minutes, which was pretty nice. "Yay, Christmas," Lina said, excited and nervous all at the same time. She wasn't one to be shy, so just said what was on her mind. "Is this going to be like, a step up for us?" She asked, slightly tentative, though she was trying to be bold about it. "I mean, I don't typically like analyzing relationships, but... spending the holidays with each other, that's supposed to be a big deal, isn't it?" She found a parking space and pulled in, picking up her purse.
