It wasn't unusual for Esme and Jonathan to have nice big dinners but it was rare for there actually to be other people present to enjoy them. She had an instance to make meals far too large for the young couple so the majority of things were frozen and then placed in someone else's freezer for them to enjoy. But! Tonight she actually had a good reason for her excessive cooking! Gavin and Gin were going to be coming over for dinner which obviously meant that she needed to make two large pans of lasagna, a loaf of garlic bread and a giant bowl of salad. How could they not go through this much food? Okay so most of it was probably not going to be eaten since it was only about four and a half people eating. The half being Cici since they were practicing baby led weaning so she ate whatever they ate.. within limits, of course but there was absolutely nothing in this delicious lasagna that she wouldn't love. What's not to like? Meat, cheese, sauce and noodles? It's fairly simple too so that left Esme plenty of time to get dressed and set the dining table up with a nice white linen table cloth, their fancy china plates and three glasses of the finest red wine that they had in the basement. Could you drink if you were going through chemotherapy? She wasn't entirely sure the answer to that question so she just assumed and figured that the worst case scenario was that Gin or Jonathan had to have a second glass or it went to waste.. But she didn't really care since she hadn't bought it.
Cici was actually suppose to be sleeping right now but she never once slept through the night so she knew that she would be up within the hour looking for attention. “Jon, do I look okay? I mean.. I totally don’t look pregnant, right?” How in the world did she not realize that she looked pregnant because she was pregnant? She'd barely been able to squeeze into the dress and it showed mostly in the stomach area where she looked a lot more pregnant than she actually was. Hell, she'd had to have Jon help her zip it because she couldn't get it to go more than halfway up and that had been a very well torturous event in her night but at least it was on now. She didn’t know how in the world that it was going to come off of her body but that was an issue for another time like later tonight when Jonathan had a raging problem in his pants and didn't want to wait an hour for her to get the dress off and just ripped the damn thing.
“I'm so nervous.” She didn’t know why she was though.. It wasn't like she'd never had them over before but something about now was just terrifying like she was doing everything wrong and she honestly felt like she was going to have a panic attack. “Are you having trouble breathing too? Because it's so hot in here..” She turned on her heel to turn the air conditioning on even though it really wasn't hot in here. Her pregnancy was making her all kinds of anxious or maybe that wasn't the baby's fault. Was there a limit to the things she could blame on a fetus the size of an apple? Or whatever fruit that it was this week.
