Caroline really hadn't been so sure if this was a good idea. Where two year olds suppose to go camping? Plus it was November so it was kind of freezing outside but they never got to do fun things like this so she was determined to make it work besides she'd heard that Esme was bringing her own little one with her! And if she could do it then why couldn't she and Aubrey? "Camila Elizabeth Sawyer!" She was already feeling a little frazzled as she watched her young daughter running through the sand. She was trying to take off her layers!
Why was it that it was so cute that her two year old was taking her clothes off yet so inappropriate watching girls like Adriana prancing around in next to nothing? Camila shook her head like the stubborn little devil that she could be and tore off jacket number three. She was now just in a pair of hot pink toddler skinny jeans, a white ruffled long sleeved shirt, a bright striped hoodie and a pair of pink sparkly Toms. She looked cute as a button! Surprisingly enough, she had left her hair up and kept the headband on which almost never happened.
Caroline let out a heavy sigh before coming to the conclusion that she wasn't going to be able to get her daughter to keep her jacket on so she was just going to have to keep a hold on them and wait until Camila wanted them. She was old enough to make that choice, right? "Mama, I'm hungry." She'd been a little out of it so she hadn't noticed right away that Camila had came running over to her. "Oh well... Aubrey! Do you know if we brought food?"
How could she be irresponsible enough to not know if they brought snacks? She'd been really down on herself lately as a mother and this small failure wasn't helping matters. Could she really not do anything right anymore? Not even the simple things? She felt like all that she was doing was being a shitty excuse for a mother.

Camping in November — On the beach? There was just many things Aubrey didn't understand and this was definitely one of them. However, since Caroline wanted to go so much he agreed to it as well. Anyways, a little family fun time at the beach wouldn't hurt them. Aubrey was actually sure that their small family of three was actually fun. Simply because there was a mixture of personalities: Caroline always worrying, Camila not worrying and him just really floating around. If was hilarious to see Cami dressed up and coated in layers of jackets. She could hardly move in them and looked like a little hungry caterpillar wiggling on out of them. Aubrey could just gush about his child but instead he brought her in a big bear hug when she pranced to them.
"How did we manage to make someone so cute?!" he gushed while hugging Cami. Aubrey too was wearing layers partially because Caroline had told him to. He had a big puffy jacket and underneath a half zip up sweater and then a long sleeve along with a pair of jeans. He let go of Camila when Caroline asked him if they had brought snacks.
Aubrey looked inside their bag of belongings and took out a bag of child friendly snacks be it fruit snacks, juice boxes, animal crackers, fish cheese crackers or sandwiches they had personalized for one another. Cami's were small crust less triangles with whatever she wanted inside of them. He offered Caroline the bag so she could pick out something for Camila.
"We should build a sand castle!" Aubrey suggested, they were at the beach right? And building sand castles was more fun than burying his body because he wasn't going to do that.

Caroline was thankful for the fact that Aubrey had remembered that they packed snacks for Camila because it'd completely slipped her mind, obviously. “Thanks, babe.” She use to be on top of these kind of things, right? There was a time when she was a confident wonderful mother and now she felt like she was forgetting every single thing. She wasn't depressed, not even in the slightest but there was a part of her that questioned her abilities on mothering, on being a girlfriend to Aubrey... on being a student. It'd all really started when she realized that she was sixteen with a two and a half year old and she had absolutely no idea what she was going to do with her life. What kind of a career was there for a teen mother who couldn't manage to maintain anything above a D average and was currently on several types of public assistance? She hated doing this.. Living off of the government as she'd been told several times by many different people but she needed to. She and Aubrey were young and yes, they'd made a mistake in getting pregnant. He had done it on purpose so maybe that was his fault but he'd had his own reasons that she couldn't hold against him but Camila? She'd done nothing wrong in this situation and that was all that she was thinking about during this little beach trip instead of having the fun relaxing time that she had wanted.
“Mama! Food!” Camila reminded with her sassy little attitude that she was already getting.. So much like her father. Caroline let out a small sigh as she reached into the plastic bag and pulled out an apple juice box and a little baggie of goldfish crackers. If she came back for more food then she would obviously give her more but she knew from experience that Camila didn't always eat everything that she asked for and that was wasteful. “Aubrey, are you hungry? You really should eat something, I don’t remember the last time that you ate something.” She knew that it could be irritating to have a girlfriend by your side reminding you constantly to eat and wear a sweater but she cared and she couldn't help it. She wasn't going all fucking Esme Russel and attempting to take care of the world just her boyfriend and her daughter. Was there really any harm in that? Nope! Besides, they clearly weren't complaining. She didn't wait for Aubrey to answer if he wanted something to eat before handing him an apple juice box and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich using sugar free peanut butter and jelly which didn't taste quite the same but it was all that she purchased because she wanted him to be able to enjoy everything without it making his blood sugar spike.
Sand castles? Why did that suddenly sound like so much fun? She hadn’t done that in what felt like forever even though it'd really only been about a year... Yeah, she could remember it pretty clearly the last time that the three of them had built a sand castle together though Camila had been too young to remember it and all she'd really contributed to the building by smashing it with her bottle. It was probably going to be a lot more fun now that their daughter was more aware and would actually get enjoyment out of this activity. “Baby girly! Put your coat on and you can help daddy and I build a sand castle!” It turned out that the overly enthusiastic tone that she used had done the job before she handed her mother her juice box and goldfish crackers so she could pull her coat back on and then she reached back for her snack. “Sand castle!” Yeah, this was going to be much more fun than last time around.
“You ready to go build a sand castle, babe? I think that little miss is going to have a spazzy if we don't go start making one soon.” She giggled but she was a tad worried that some sort of tantrum would occur seeing how excited that their daughter was to go.

Aubrey didn't think that the way Camila asked for food was the proper way. He may have been sassy but he always said please. He then looked to Camila and smiled softly, watching her take her snacks. It wasn't as if he had a firm attitude like Leo, he wasn't going to make his daughter cry while explaining to her what she needed to fix. After all, she was incredibly young and she had so much to learn that a little mistake such as forgetting her manners wasn't an excuse to yell at her.
"You know, Caro, I think we should tell her that when she wants something she needs to say 'please'." Aubrey suggested, and it wasn't a suggestion, it was more of a 'we have to do this sooner or later' and he thought it would be best if they started now. He then rose both eyebrows when Caroline had asked him if he had eaten anything yet. He shook his head and smiled softly, "I'm not very hungry right now. Could I have a bottle of water though, please?" he asked, grinning gently.
He then scrambled off to find the set of castle building equipment to build that castle. Aubrey had never build a castle. Why? Because Leo would always come by and knock it down. Oh, he and Mark used to get so mad at him and they would chase him up to the shore, into the water then grab him by the head and push him down. They wanted to drown him! However, they had mercy on his soul.
"Come on Cami, let's build a castle. You can be the princess!" Aubrey didn't know if that would motivate her to do something productive at the beach. Quirky talents did really come in handy sometimes. She could become a castle building pro for all they knew.

Caroline raised a brow when Aubrey told her that they needed to start teaching Camila 'please'.. Was he trying to call her a bad mother? She knew logically that he didn't mean to offend her but she couldn't fight the feeling! She was about to say something about it when she remembered that he rarely did this. They didn't argue and she'd like to keep it that way so she simply nodded her head and went over to the area where he wanted to build the sand castle. "Camila is going to the sand castle princess? Awe! I wanted to be the sand castle princess!" She was obviously joking around as she sat down on the cool sand and gestured for Camila to sit in her lap as she played with a couple of different toys. She had a little shaped bucket that she was using a shovel to put sand in and then she set it down on the ground which was a nice start.
She cleared her throat and glanced over to her boyfriend... Whoa, it was strange to know that he was her boyfriend and yet they had created a human together not that either of them were old enough to get married yet but technically neither were Esme and Jonathan. "Aubrey, do you ever give any thought to the whole marriage thing? I know it's random but I'm just thinking, I suppose." She didn't know if that was what she wanted right now but she was curious as to how he felt about that. What if he never ever saw it as a possibility? What if he didn't want to because they already had a child and that was enough of a commitment?
She reached into her purse for her strawberry passion lip gloss and swiped it quickly over her lips. She had to look good to remind Aubrey that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her! She snuggled Camila closer to her body and let out a heavy sigh. Why was she so worried about him rejecting her? It wasn't like he always told her no or didn't treat her like a queen because he did.
