"I can't believe this," Jem, frustrated and moody as always, was itching to get to his last class and finish the day. The whole week he had been carrying around a magazine full of pictures from the newest teen-hit movie. "It's not coming out for another two weeks," he groaned, clutching the center fold picture of hunky Chip Ryan to his chest. Ever since he saw Radioactive, a movie starring Chip that was released two years previous, he'd been following his favorite actor's film career. His latest movie, Gung Ho, was totally Jem's style - slasher fun with horror and thrill elements that make you jump out of your skin just at the preview.
"I have been waiting for this movie for ever," he announced to no one in particular. He continued to flip through action shots of the movie. Chip was pretty creepy looking, with scary make up and dark clothing, but he looked great. Sighing, Jem leaned back i his seat and continued to read about the movie.

Miles sighed, propping himself up on his elbows, his eyes lazily scrolling through the text book that lay out on the desk in front of him. It was the last class of the day and it was safe to say he'd had enough. How any teenager was supposed to hold concentration at this time of the day was beyond him. With another, more exaggerated sigh he flipped the text book closed and looked around the room. After letting his gaze wander for awhile he finally let his eyes rest on the person sat to his right, Jem.
Miles had been working up the courage to ask Jem out for awhile, and today was the day he was going to do it. There was a movie premier that Miles had tickets to, he wasn't even going to go to the premier until he heard Jem raving about the movie. Every class that he had with him he seemed to be going on about it. When the bell finally rang Miles was up and out of his seat like a shot, he walked over to Jem and tapped him on the shoulder, trying not to be too creepy.
'Hey, Jem, I was wondering if I could talk to you?', he asked with a small nervous smile.

Jen had to admit, he didn't know Miles very well, but he at least had an interest in him. Who wouldn't? He was stylish, cute, and very likable. Just the kind of person Jem wanted to hang around with. When he felt a tap on his shoulder, he looked up into those pale blue eyes and almost melted. Closing his magazine with a blush - it was kind of weird to be staring at movie pictures, wasn't it? - he stood up. As he packed his books into his bag, he wondered what it he world Miles could want.
When you compare two people, Miles and Jem are on opposite sides of the spectrum most of the time. Miles looks nice and Jem is the epitome of grungy-punk style. He wouldn't be caught dead in half of the things that Miles wore. Yet, he still appreciated the boy's looks. Sliding his magazine carefully in between two textbooks, so that it wouldn't get crumpled, he fit everything into his backpack and offered a smile to his classmate. "Sure, bro, what's up?"

'Well...', Miles slung his satchel over his shoulder and started walking towards the door, hoping Jem would take the hint and follow him, 'This might sound really weird, and feel free to say no, but I have two tickets to the premier of that movie you've been talking about. It's next week, and I wondered if you wanted to go with me?', he sort of rushed through his sentence as they made it out in to the crowded corridor. All of the students were headed one way, towards the exit, but Miles paused by the wall waiting for Jem's reply.
All of this seemed very 'American teen drama' to him and he was struggling to not find it amusing. As he waited for a reply he fiddled with the strap of his satchel, trying to keep his eyes off Jem, which was particularly difficult. Miles didn't know why he found Jem so attractive, if you were to compare the two you'd think neither of them would be interested in one another, they were completely different, but Miles was definitely interested in Jem, though he hoped it wasn't too obvious.

Jem followed Miles into the hall, and stopped dead when he heard what he had said. It took a minute to register, but then his eyes lit up brighter than a decorated Christmas tree. Caught up in the moment, he reached out and grabbed Miles' arm in a gentle grip. "You're kidding!" He exclaimed, excitement obvious in his voice. "I can't believe this! I'd love to, oh my god, this is amazing!" He bubbled, overjoyed as usual. The movie wasn't coming out until after the premier! He'd get to see it early, on a date with a -- wait.
"Is this a date?" He beamed, eyes glinting.

Miles had started to turn pink the moment Jem had grabbed his arm, but when he asked if it was a date the colour of his cheeks deepened and he let out a nervous laugh and ran a hand through his hair, 'Yeah I guess, I mean, if you want it to be', he replied a smile stretching across his face.
Most of the kids had left the school building now, so they were stood in a mostly deserted corridor. 'We should probably leave ... Maybe?', Miles suggested, glancing around and realizing they were pretty much alone, 'Do you want to do something, doesn't have to be today, but sometime...?', he trailed off.

Jen raised an eyebrow. So it was a date. He wasn't of sure about that. His heart still mistakenly belonged to Aiden. He had had a crush for a long time. He felt like going on a date might be weird - especially since he had never said out loud that he was gay. He didn't even know why he asked, but he felt like it was necessary. He hadn't been out with anyone in a long time - girl or guy. Slowly, he let go of Miles' arm and walked with m towards the doors. It was bright out, most likely a little chilly, but Jem insisted on stopping to pull out his sun glasses and slide them up his nose. A pair of blue ombré tinted aviators, they were just his style. They even had a little J in bling on the corner of the right lenses.
"Sure, it's a date," he replied and adjusted his backpack on his shoulders. He noticed Miles' little blush, and admired how high lighted his cheek bones were. He had a nice face, anyone could see that - and that bod? Yummy. Wait wait, don't think about that just yet. He had to remind himself that he wasn't even technically all the way out of the closet yet. "I mean, like a friendly, casual date," he added, feeling his own blush. He tried to hide it by flipping his hair over his face. "We should hang out before, sure. I mean, you want to come to my dorm? Play some video games or something?"

'Yeah, friendly date, sounds good', Miles replied nodding enthusiastically, now the question had been asked he felt a lot more like himself. The hard part was over and now they could just hang out, like friends, it'd be awesome.
'Your dorm?', Miles asked looking a little uncertain, generally speaking he kept well away from the dorms, as they were usually kind of gross, 'Today, now?', he asked, trying to keep the worried expression off his face.

"Yeah, sure, my dorm." Jem glanced up to catch Miles' worried gaze, and all traces of a smile left his lips. "You're going to have to give me a minute to stuff all the dead bodies in a closet, but why not today?" He joked, trying to act serious, although his lips curved up after a few seconds. H didn't know why Miles looked so uncertain. "What, can't handle slumming it in a dorm?" He teased, pushing the exit doors open and stepping out into the bright day. It was nice, with the smell of freshly cut grass in the air. Although there was a sudden sort of pressure that he knew meant a storm was coming. "It might start raining soon. You don't have to hang with me I mean, we could go grab coffee if you don't want to stay in my dorm..." He wondered why Miles wouldn't want to come over. Was he being uppity - or did he think that Jem meant something sexual by inviting him over? That wasn't the case!!... Yet.

Miles laughed nervously at Jem's jokes but in the end he just shrugged, 'Yeah, your dorm, let's do it', he replied as if it was the biggest decision he'd ever had to make. Miles was never good at making decisions, he really was more of a follower in that regard. Unless someone made a really crappy decision, then he'd talk them out of it.
'Lead the way', he added, gesturing for Jem to start walking again, because he was clueless as to where the dorms actually were. Miles actually began to wonder if they'd need to get a bus there because he really didn't want to catch the bus, his car was parked at the School...
