Name:
Vincent Ramon Prince
Age:
18
Grade:
Senior
Sports/Clubs:
Glee Club
Appearance:
Vince has black, curly hair and scruffy eyebrows. He has a finely shaped jaw and defined cheekbones. He has a sort of soft glare in his eyes, and his lips are always pouted in a way. He has a strong build, though he is short, at 5'8. His muscles are defined, as he's decided to devote a lot of his free time to working out in the gym -- it helps keep his mind clear and focused, lets out the aggression he holds inside.
Personality:
Vince is really a sweetheart, if you've taken the chance to get to know him, if he's let his guard down for you. He likes to be there for people to make up for the time he was never really there for anybody else, to make up for his parents not being there for him, or his brother. He's very protective of anybody who gets close to him, he likes to make people safe, he likes being a caregiver. And sometimes he gives too much, but, it's better to give more than to not give at all, right? He just doesn't want to take life for granted anymore. He's taken one, too many chances in life and he's not just going to let himself amount to nothing when his time comes.
He's not a pushover, whatsoever. He gets hurt when he's taken advantage of, because he's never really made such an effort to be that good to people before. He thinks he's doing it all to make up for his mistakes, and he just wants to be forgiven. Vince already thinks badly of himself, thinks he's a bad person, blames himself for things that are usually not his fault, yet he takes the responsibility because he doesn't want to bring the burden of guilt onto anyone else. No one should feel that bad about themselves, ever, and he wants to make sure everyone around him is happy even if he may sacrifice his own happiness.
Background Story:
Vince doesn't really try to remember too much about his parents. They were both quite young when he was born. His mother, Kathryn, was eighteen while Fabian, his father, only twenty-five. They weren't married, and Kathryn had just graduated high school when she'd had Vince. The young couple fought constantly, mostly about how they didn't have enough money to take proper care of Vince, how Kathryn couldn't go to college because she had to focus on looking after the boy, how Fabian didn't have a steady job to support the family... it just wasn't a good environment. Vince seems to only remember there being a lot of yelling, seeing his father with women who weren't his mom in their apartment when Kathryn wasn't home, and at some point... Kathryn just never came back. And Fabian would be gone not too soon after.
Vince was put into foster care with his younger brother, Alvin, around age five. He'd be a handful, talking back, being stubborn, hitting other kids -- he was never placed into one home for too long. It wasn't until he was thirteen, when his social worker told him to clean up his act, that he'd started behaving a bit more. Well, at least, he tried. He'd grown more quiet at home, staying out of everyone's way, which was his own way of having "good" behavior. It was school where he caused trouble.
Now, the boy was never the smartest or had the best grades, and it hadn't really been that much of an issue for him... but as he reached junior high, he really just learned not to care anymore. He would openly crack jokes in class, goof off, vandalize the desks -- nothing too serious, just little things at first. But as high school started, it got worse. He'd smoke on campus, hook up with girls behind buildings, etc.
He was finally adopted by some Christian couple when he was 13. They thought they could "fix" him, mold him into a good, well-behaving young man that they were sure was living inside of him.
Other:
- He owns an old, run-down '66 red mustang that he works on in the garage at his parents' house
- His adoptive parents made the effort to track down Vince's birth father, Fabian, while he was in rehab -- he's cleaned up his act and he and Vince are working at establishing a closer relationship with each other
- His younger brother, Alvin, was adopted by a nice, wealthy couple after a year in foster care -- they wouldn't take Vince
