It was very rare that Kenix had the day off from both his jobs. Usually, it was one or the other since the mall and the sushi restaurant had different business hours. Nevertheless, he kept himself busy all day running errands and decided to take a small Jamba Juice break.
"Hi, can I get a Strawberry Surf Rider Smoothie and a Pomegranate Paradise Smoothie?" he asked the worker politely. The strawberry was for him, of course. He loved strawberries. The pomegranate was for his little sister, because Kenix knew she was at home alone. He thought it was be a nice surprise since she couldn't go out and get one herself.
He took a seat at a table for two, not wanting to be a jerk and hog a bigger table when he was just by himself. As per usual and regardless of his day off, Kenix wore a navy blue v-neck with dark, straight-legged Levis and his favorite Nike Free Runs. His hair was somewhat "up" today, as opposed to covering his forehead like the bowl-cut he had when he was younger. Those were the days.
Kenix took his phone out to check the time before opening the new app he'd downloaded just last night. It was a game where the player was an old granny armed with various objects that she could hit random things or people with and earn money. It was so wrong but so funny and he played it so intently that he almost forgot where he was and why he was there.

( www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=78358410 ) Last night was hilarious. Riley spent the whole night texting with Mark talking about the random pairings and their dates. After that the conversation just went off topic and ended up being about turkeys. Which to Riley's misfortune had her feeling so big-headed and heavy in the morning. She had no desire to eat breakfast and she had to pass by Tammy's house to bring her back her wallet which she had left at her house the day before but was too darn lazy to come and get it herself. However, Riley loved Tamera to bits and pieces and would never neglect a favor. Anyways, she got to see Eugene and Samuel which was always awesome. While coming from the Richards' house, Riley's stomach began to growl. She was in the mood for some Jamba Juice and that was exactly where she was going. Her cell phone vibrated almost after getting there. It was Mark again but this time he was just asking where she was. She turned off her car and then hopped out, walked to the entrance and waited in line. In the corner of her eyes she spotted Kenix. Wasn't he that cute Asian guy that was mega friends with Mark? She blushed slightly, clearing her throat before looking to the cashier, "Hey! I'll have a mango-a-go-go smoothie and... a plain oatmeal, please." she said laughing slightly because of the smoothie's name. "These names are so funny." she commented. The cashier laughed and agreed before handing her her receipt after she paid for her meal. It would be awkward if she didn't greet Kenix. After all, a friends friend is a - friend? Right? She quickly texted Mark back before taking a seat in front of Kenix and saying, "Yo, you must be Kenix." she threw out some gang signs so he knew what was up.

The shop wasn't packed per say, but there was a steady flow of customers coming and going, which was why when Riley ordered her meal, Kenix didn't recognize her. Instead, he just sipped his delicious strawberry smoothie and continued to play his game. He was quite the sight too-- both hands on his phone with the smoothie in between where he could easily drink without having to pause. It didn't matter though, because when Riley sat down across from him, he forgot all about beating his high score.
"Only on Tuesdays," he said with a smile. Kenix was surprised to see her here out of all places and of all days, but it was nothing short of a pleasant surprise. Despite the fact that he and Mark were like brothers from different mothers, they had a different circle of friends. Nonetheless, a friend of Mark's was a friend of Kenix's, but usually Mark would be there to help ease the awkwardness. Then again, the awkwardness might just be Kenix himself.
"And you must be Riley. Following me around the city, are you?" he joked. Even though they never formally met before, he knew Riley was one of Mark's closer friends. He took a moment to study her a little more closely now that he had some one-on-one time with her. The sweatshirt and matching shoes were an interesting color. He wasn't even sure what the color was called. Something pastel-y, that was for sure.
"So, how are you? Out by yourself?" Kenix finally asked. Truth be told, he was scraping his brain for conversation starters because he didn't do this with Mark or Elaine. Nope, they never greeted each other like civilized human beings.

Honestly, Riley got along with almost everyone due to her rather spunky and comical attitude. She had a few people that disliked her and she was well aware but it didn't hurt to try to be everyone's friend sometimes. She placed her phone on top of the table and spun it around before nodding, "The fabulous, the one and only." Riley struck a pose before chuckling and sinking down in her seat.
"How'd you know?" she asked, acting as if shocked and disappointed about him finding out. "I mean- Psh... Me? Following you... Around?" she scoffed twice before sitting back up again and shaking her head. She then heard her order being called and said, "Hold up, gotta grab my drank." Riley stood up then took her smoothie and oatmeal. God dang! She was starving.
Riley then took a seat once more and began preparing her oatmeal while saying, "Yeah. I just came from a friend's house because she forgot her wallet at my house." she took a spoonful of oatmeal into her mouth. She then rose an eyebrow and said, "What have you been up to?" she asked him with a bright smile. "Or is it you that is following me and you knew where I was going to be" she took a deep breath, "Therefore here we are and you are here because you knew the time and moment I was going to come by." she rambled but it was all for a good cause.

"Ah, you see right through me," he admitted. Kenix shrugged his shoulders with both palms facing up to show his defeat. "You see, I've embedded a tracking device in your neck," he explained, picking his phone up and waving it to indicate that he used it to find her location. He was glad that Riley shared a similar sense of humor because any other girl would probably put a restraining order on him.
So Riley was an oatmeal-eating kind of girl. Did she always eat healthy or was she just hungry? It was too soon to tell, but the only thing healthy about Kenix's diet was the strawberries. He didn't eat McDonalds three times a day or anything, but he wasn't the type of person that kept track of their calorie intake or food portions. He just ate whatever he pleased and whenever he pleased--within reason, of course.
"I've been running errands. My dad works all day, so I take care of the things he doesn't have time for," Kenix told her. That included grocery shopping, getting the cars fixed or inspected, as well as driving his sister around. Mr. Adler worked at least forty hours a week and he always took overtime for the extra money, so that left his two children to fend for themselves while he was away. Still, Kenix wouldn't have it any other way, because they turned out to be one of the closest siblings he knew.
