Lina knew it was a bad idea to go to Macklin's Bakery for coffee when it was this busy, but she couldn't resist. She could feel the lack of caffeine energy in her body. And those coffee beans smelled so heavenly, she couldn't just walk by. Inside, it was crowded, but she managed to grab a small table with four chairs around it, crammed in the corner and out of site. She knew eventually people would have to Jin her, but that didn't matter at the moment. She had gotten herself a large pumpkin cupcake with vanilla bean icing on it, and that sucker was calling her name so loud that her stomach was groaning in response. She had also ordered a large vanilla mocha and that thing was huge. Settling into her seat, she munched on her cupcake and took slow, measured sips of the scalding mocha while people watching.

Great. Donnie Holliday stood at the counter holding a large black coffee in one hand and about twenty sticks of sugar in his other. Fucking typical, Donnie thought to himself rolling his eyes as he glanced from table to table of the small coffee shop. Every single time he came to get coffee he ended up having to share a table with someone, it was awkward to say the least. With an exaggerated sigh Donnie set off to find a seat. Weaving between chairs and tables he finally came to a halt next to a table where a girl was eating a cupcake. Donnie cleared his throat before saying, 'Hi, mind if I sit here, everywhere else is full?', he gestured around the room and pulled a face, letting the girl know that he didn't like this any more than she probably would. Before the girl had much of a chance to answer he had placed his coffee down on the table, as he was pretty sure some of his skin had melted to the scolding hot cup. 'I'm Donnie by the way, Donnie Holliday, I think we go to the same school?', he pulled out a chair and sat down, realizing that the girl looked somewhat familiar.

Lina looked up as a boy approached her. No, make that man - gorgeous man, she thought. She shrugged when he asked if he could join her. She had figured it would happen. Most often, she was stuck sitting with old people when Macklin's was full, so a fresh young face was welcome by her, no hesitations whatsoever. She watched the steam rise from the cup he had set down and sympathized. On days like these, you got your coffee the second it was done brewing so that the next person in line could be helped. One time, she had considered bringing in an oven mitt because they served their drinks so scalding it hurt to hold them! Not to mention, you had to find somewhere to sit quickly before you got burnt - she didn't blame him for approaching her mostly empty table.
"Nice to meet you, Donnie Holiday." She said, and gestured towards e seat next to her. "Sit, would you? I'm Lina, Lina Rey Parson." She introduced herself, taking a sip of her now warm drink before she continued, "I go to Somerset High. I think I've seen you around... Senior, right?" She asked, a kind smile upon her lips. She wanted to look friendly, inviting.

'And nice to meet you Lina Rey', Donnie replied with a small smile, he purposely left out her last name, Lina Rey had a nice ring to it on its own. 'Yeah I'm a senior, a very senior senior, I was held back a year, yadda yadda yadda', Donnie occupied himself with tearing open the little sticks of sugar and pouring them one by one in to his coffee as he spoke. The sugar melting in to the liquid reminded him that he had to take his blood sugar soon, he made a mental note of it. 'You're a ... Let me guess', he looked up at Lina and cocked his head to the side a little, 'Sophomore, no wait, Junior ... Right?', he smiled, brushing empty sugar packets on to the vacant seat beside them.

"Junior," Lina replied with a smile. She'd forgive him for guessing sophomore first - she did look a little younger than she was. "What brings you to Macklin's?" She asked, hoping to strike up conversation. The coffee shop was actually pretty out of the way for anyone from Somerset. Starbucks was a whole lot closer, but they didn't have nearly the same quality of bakery items that Macklin's did. You couldn't get a cupcake this great at any chain store, this was a family run business, after all. But she noticed that Donnie didn't have any food with his coffee, so she wondered why he came all this way.

'Oh, I'm kind of pissed at Starbucks', Donnie replied, knowing that most Somerset Students tended to fo there, he picked up his cup and took a long sip, it burnt his tongue but he didn't really care he was so thirsty. Lina looked like she wanted a little more information so he put his cup down and leant on the table, resting his cheek on his hand as he absent mindedly stirred his coffee. 'They've not been paying their taxes, for one thing', he explained, though he meant it more as a joke, he wasn't even sure what kind of taxes coffee shops were meant to pay, he'd just gathered that information from the news. 'No, but they always get my order wrong, they get my name wrong, every time I go I get called Donald', he rolled his eyes, 'What kinda name is Donald anyway?', he smirked.

Lina laughed about the taxes thing but listened when he mentioned that they didn't get his name right on the orders. It seemed kind of trivial, but whatever. When he said Donald was a stupid name, she pretended to look stricken and surprised. "My cousins name is Donald..." She said quietly, looking down at his coffee, then up at his face to gauge his reaction. When he was sufficiently surprised, she laughed. "I'm kidding, his name is Enrique."
