Derek was such a hoot, but Shana loved her hoot, anyways. She closed her eyes and smiled while he pressed his lips to her's once more. Probably to annoy Vallery. His conduct was predictable, to be honest. She gripped his hand and walked with him to where everyone was gathering.
She released Derek's hand before sitting down. Shana had brought her backpack with her so she took that off herself and placed it beside her before sitting with her legs crossed. She brushed a strand of hair away from her forehead as she looked to all the others sitting down.
"Soulja boy tell em'" Shana second Derek's interpretation, throwing some gang signs and being silly, generally like always. She moved her shoulders side to side before settling down laughing.

The instant that she responded with a confident, "Dare!" Vallery tensed up inside. She didn't want to seem too concerned on the outside, but she couldn't help but wonder what could be up this guy's sleeve. From the way Derek talked about these truth or dare games, though, it had to be fun, right? When he finally decided upon and all too awkward dare, she blushed and looked down at his lap - and then at her own. "Oh, awesome," she had to giggle, because the idea itself was just silly and weird and it seemed like a Dave thing to do. "I don't want to be too heavy..." She said as she got to her knees and sort of waddled towards him. She wrapped one arm around his shoulder, and moved so that she was in his lap with her legs positioned neatly over top of his. "My legs are short," she observed. Then, she laughed, and awkwardly detangled herself from his shoulders, realizing she didn't need to hold onto him anymore. She got herself comfy, all the while worrying about being too bony, and leaned her back against his chest. "This might have been a bad idea, bro," she informed him. "Can you even see over me?"
She didn't wait for an answer. Now it was her turn to ask someone, and she just picked on Shana because she had talked to her before. "Um, S-dog over there," she teased, referencing the silly gang signs. "Truth or dare?"
OOC; if you chose truth, the question for Shana is "where were you when you first did it" and the dare is "jump up and down while singing The Elmo's world theme song"

This gathering was beginning to take toll and Shana really enjoyed that. She liked it when things weren't boring, if that wasn't obvious. She watched Vallery do her dare which to her expense wasn't all that bad. Dave was totally hitting on her and whoever couldn't see that was blind.
When Vallery called on her, Shana crossed her arms and did some peace signs. "Yo-yo, yoyoyoyo?" she then couldn't take it and began laughing. She was a little nervous at first but decided to choose from either one of those two choices. "Dare!" she hollered. What could possibly go wrong?
Vallery didn't seem like the sinister type. She was confident that she wasn't going to make her do anything racy or complicated.

"Um," Vallery paused to think. "Okay, stand up at jump around in a circle for six seconds." She groaned, realizing how lame that was. "I'm sorry, I didn't have any ideas." She shrugged and leaned her head back against Dave, covering her face with her hands. "Oh gosh, I'm so lame, sorry Shana!"

Dave only smiled as Vallery began firing off apologies. He was well aware she might be boney and he sort of agreed when she said she had short legs. But he kept his mouth shut in a crooked smile and only opened it a bit to giggle at her struggle.
When her arm left his shoulder, Dave readjusted himself so that her bottom was between his legs and not crushing his thighs. "Now its like a nest," he finally spoke, just as she asked if he could see past her. "Yea man you're not that tall," he added, as she began asking another girl for truth or dare. And when dare was chosen and the girl had to jump around, Dave laughed. It was a lame dare, but at least the girl looked silly doing it.
As soon as the dare had finished, Vallery burrowed her face into Dave's chest and he smiled down at her. "Oh come on, it was funny enough!" he tried to convince her, fighting the urge to give her a hug. This whole time he'd been trying so hard not to just wrap his arms around her waist. I mean come on, they were in the perfect position for a hug! But he'd made things weird enough, so Dave only continued to keep his arms in back where they supported the weight of his (and now her) back.

Vallery resisted the urge to wriggle around when Dave moved their position so she was nestled into his lap just right. This felt like such a couple thing to do, and she didn't know if she was supposed to be enjoying it as much as she was. She barely knew Dave, aside from their occasional exchanges of one or two sentences during their times in physics together. Yet, sitting in his lap felt comfortable and not at all too awkward. It was a bit strange, admittedly, but she didn't mind it. In fact, he was warm and the night was only getting cooler, so their shared body heat was a plus.
The light breeze gave her goosebumps on her bare arms, and as the party began to pretty much break up (Derek and Shana had sort of stopped playing and no one really seemed interested in truth or dare anymore, anyway) she wondered if now would be the time to get up. When Derek and his girlfriend got up to go and make out (she assumed), Val shifted in Dave's lap to look at him. She hated not being face to face. "I think the game is over..." She trailed off with a faint hint of a blush. She didn't want to not sit with this guy, he was warm and cuddly!

Dave watched as the other dispersed and kept a faint smile across his lips. The game had ended rather abruptly and hadn't lasted all too long, but he was satisfied with the fact that he'd at least gotten this girl to sit on him.
"You don't have to get off if you don't want," he said when Vallery turned to look at him. He tried to say it with a sort of flirty voice, but Dave had always been kind of a fail at flirting. Hence the whole "come sit in my lap" thing. Which was weird, and still kind of made him squirm. Either way he shrugged and patted himself on the back for getting her to actually do it. "Its getting cold so.. two bodies is better than one, right?" he offered a cheesy smile as he moved his arms out from behind him and leaned his back against the wall again. As he moved back, Vallery's body fell with him and he moved his arms forward, resting them on his thighs.
"Oh and I figure before this gets too weird.. you don't have a boyfriend do you? I don't want some dude to come beat the shit out of me later," he teased, looking around as if to find this supposed 'boyfriend' he was almost certain she had.

Vallery had never blushed so hard. She was normally confident, the gutsy and brazen girl who would do any dare. But sitting on a guys lap was out of her typical territory. She wasn't much of a flirted, and most often shied away from any confrontational situations that could lead to relationships. She'd had boys in the past, of course, but it was always the sort of relationship that started because he asked her out with such boldness she couldn't say no. That always lasted a month before they realized they honestly didn't know each other, and things fell apart. She leaned back against Dave, her head sort of falling against the crook of his neck as she shivered. "Yeah, body heat. I should have worn a jacket but hey, at least I have you to save me from freezing to death," she said cheerily, trying her hardest not to breathe on his neck or get too close to his face with her face. Again, awkward, I'm telling you.
When he asked if she had a boyfriend, she sat up a little and snorted with laughter. "No, all of the assholes I've dated wouldn't have even bothered to beat you up. I have a habit of dating guys who couldn't give a shit about me, it's a bad habit - I'm breaking it by being single." She sort of blurted out a bit too much information, but saying too much is her thing. It didn't even phase her in the slightest. "Long story short, I'm single and this is cool, and.." She leaned back against him. "Yeah. That's it."

Dave listened as she rambled about past boyfriends, and sort of smiled. She seemed nervous. Maybe anxious. Maybe both. Either way it was cute, and Dave was in a "yolo" sort of mood.
"Well.. I'd give a shit about you," he said quite suddenly, looking down at her and pulling the sides of his sweater up and around the two of them, meaning he'd wrapped his arms around her front and basically encased her.
He decided he'd let her speak next. He was known to just blabber on, but this was important. He barely knew the girl, but somehow he wanted to know her more. She was pretty, which was a major plus, but she also seemed to have a pretty strong head on her shoulders. That was important. He'd dated quite a few girls in his twenty years, and they'd all been pretty dumb people. The kind of girl that was always like "oh you're twenty? and in high school? that's hot" then just dated him to get a quick lay. Certainly he hadn't complained, but he'd recently decided that maybe he should take relationships a bit more seriously seeing as he really was starting to get old.

Val was a little out of sorts, and loving it. Half of her conscious was asking her what the hell she was doing, sitting in her friends lap and letting him sweet talk her while they snuggled. The other half of herself told her conscious to take a hike as she snuggled into him, leaning her head back and enjoying the warmth he brought her. She couldn't help but feel a sense of calm in his arms, as if they had known each other for years and he was the one who could make her feel safe.
When he said that he would give a shit about her, she smiled against her will. She felt warm and fuzzy inside, not just because he was holding her, but because of what he said. She hadn't been in the market for a boyfriend, but Dave was only getting better and better in her mind. It wasn't like he had just said the most romantic thing in the world. It was just what was behind those words that made her giddy. Having someone care for her was a big deal, in her opinn. S many other guys had been in the same position with her, but being a good friend was not on their mind. Most guys who had wrapped her in their arms were reaching with eager fingers towards her jeans. She knew that Dave wasn't going to do that, and the fact that he didn't have a devious double meaning for holding her close made her happy.
"Thanks," she said, and watched in awe as she reached up and wrapped her hands around his, lacing their fingers together. That was just a thought she had to do, and a quick, impulsive action. Tensing for a moment, she smiled at him shyly, "before we go any farther, is there a girlfriend who is going to beat me up for this?" She glanced around, suddenly aware of all the girls that could be his. Tall, skinny and gorgeous with long hair and batting eyelashes. She felt too tiny compared to them and wondered why on earth he would rather have a shrimp of a girl in his lap instead of a five-ten model.
