Name: Vallery Preston
Yeah, it's a weird spelling. My ma thought it sounded like a company. She's always hoped I would create my own something like a brand of shoes or a cupcake bakery, and use my name in the title... I don't understand why, but that's the name my mother gave me.
Age, Grade, DOB: Seventeen, born on April 17th, 1995. Yes, she's turning 18 soon - how exciting! It is her Senior year, and she has been attending Somerset since she was a Freshman.
Appearance: Vallery has always been petite. Even as a child, she was thin and dainty. When she was very young, her mother called her China-Doll, a nickname that has stuck throughout the years, on account of her perfect brown ringlets of hair and sparkling hazel eyes. As she grew up, her hair became more wavy, and she lost the tight curls she once had. However, everything else pretty much stayed the same. Her eyes have always been brown and her skin has always been pale. Aside from a visit from the boob fairy when she was thirteen, she was always the same old Vallery - thin, small, and filled with enough sarcasm to make up for the few inches she lacks.
You'll probably never see Vallery slouch. She knew right from the start that she had to hold her head high. She pushes her shoulders back and looks off at the horizon. Her clothing style mimic her personality. Everything is randomly put together, but still somewhat fashionable, in an odd way. She often wears deep maroons, royal purples, and charcoal colors, which she hopes make her look less pale (they don't, really, but oh well). She would love to wear heels, but she can hardly stumble in them. Vogue doesn't matter to her; her shopping rules are "if it fits, flatters, and is flexible, then it's okay."
Personality:
She's a leader... Val has never sat in the back and let someone else lead. I'm not saying she's going to push her way to the top, but its something that comes naturally to her. She's got the sort of attitude that makes people want to listen. She listens, bounces ideas around, organizes the group. That's just who she is, it happens.
She's also a bit of a loud-mouth... Some people get annoyed because she's not afraid to speak her mind. Most of those jerks are the ones she's accidentally insulted, though, so she doesn't really think much of it. She's opinionated, not rude. This girl was on the speech and debate team for years, as well as the mock trial team. She knows what she believes in and she'll advocate for it. In her words, "Freedom of speech, I'm just exercising my rights."
She's pretty dependable - make that very dependable. Ever since she was young, Vallery has been taking care of things. That's where the leadership skills kicked on, and the loyal qualities. Never has Val let a person down. Her values include being trustworthy - that's something that matters so much to her.
History: Carma Jones was a beautiful baby girl who was born with slight mental retardation due to complications with her birth. Her kind parents helped her through life as much as possible, and treated her as they would any of their other six children, who has no birth defects. However, they gave her too much room. When Carma was eighteen, her in-home tutor took her out for a coffee laced with drugs, brought her to his home, and raped her. It was only after they went through the courts to figure the messy case out that they found out that Carma was pregnant and in her fourth month by then. The father of the child was not put in jail until Carma was near her due date. She was eighteen when it happened - the confusion was between whether or not it was consensual. He never plead guilty, which gave him a fifteen year sentence.
Vallery was born that April. It was a miracle that she had no complications through the pregnancy or birth, which provided Carma with a healthy baby girl. Val grew up in her grandparents house, taking care of her mentally disabled mother, who was practically like a little sister. When she was eight, her father's brother contacted her. He wanted to be in his niece's life, and that lead to a very awkward conjoined two families. Her uncle was a kind man, who would never have done the things that her father had done. He was there for her, almost an actual parent for her.
When she was fourteen, her father was released on parole. Her grandparents, concerned, sent her to Somerset. She's been here ever since.

Other:
- Allergic to nuts. That means no Reese's peanut butter eggs!
- Totally straight and looking for someone who cares
- She can't play any instruments, but she can make some pretty sick beats when she's got her lap top and her editing system.
