Lina was excited for their zoo visit. She hadn't been to the zoo since she was young, very young. Taking Violet felt nice, like something an aunt would do. Over the past few weeks, she had become quite acquainted with Tyler and his little family. They often had picnics or lunches together, which was fun. She had never dated anyone with a child before, but it wasn't a big deal to her. She liked hanging out with Tyler and watching Violet learn and grow was fascinating.
For going to the zoo, Lina had decided to wear a simple outfit. Se had on a pair of jeans, a comfortable pair of boots, and a black leather jacket over her pink tank top. Yes, pink. Though she doesn't particularly enjoy pink, she wears it. Trying not to snicker at Tyler's wallet predicament, she followed him inside of the park. "Don't worry, I've done worse."

Lina grinned, then nodded. "Yeah,it was kind of bad. Ur everyone has those moments, you know?" She shook her head, giggling. "There was this one time when I was getting an award for my academic whatever's and then I tripped on the way up to the stage and I couldn't find my speech, soninhad to wing it. Man, it was bad." she sympathized, and smiled at Violet when she flapped her arms. Lina wondered if there actually was somewhere Violet wanted to go, she just didn't know how to say it. Interesting thought...
"I like polar bears," Lina replied. "Or, any bears. My favorites are the tigers, but I think we should see the sea lions and then swing over to the polar bears. What do you think?"

Lina began to walk with Tyler to the intersection that would take them towards the sea lions. "I haven't been since I was... Maybe eight, on a class trip." She laughed, then smiled and looked around her. Though it was cold, there seemed to be a sort of sunshine around and a lovely feel to the day. It was almost serene and somewhat ominous, like there was going to be some thing happening later. "I remember there was this cool wolf trail you could go on, where there was like a walkway through the wolf habitat. No one wanted to go with me, but I went off on my own, and it was awesome."

Lina glanced around after his soft shove just in time to see it. A flash of brown fur, blurring by almost invisibly. "Oh wow, a monkey!" She cheered, and rushed towards the railing of its habitat, as excited as the other little kids that were crowding near by. "Tyler, look," she pointed to one that was barely visible, hiding in the fork of a tree, holding what seemed to be a clump of fuzzy fur. "Oh, it has a baby, oh that's so cute!" She cried, "awww"ing over the adorable monkey family. "A monkey family, its just like you and violet, " she teased.

Lina lauded, then pointed to herself, feigning disbelief. "I'm a monkey?" She snickered, and looked at Violet. "Am I a monkey, Vi?" She scratched at her armpits like a gorilla would, trying to amuse the baby."Ee-Ee-ooh-ooh!" She made monkey noises, and then reached for Violet, waiting for his permission to pick her up. She didn't want to just grab hi daughter, but she loved holding Violet and she had an idea "Can you take a picture of us in front of the monkey family? I bet we'll be like twins."

When he told her to pose, Lina held Violet like the monkey held its baby. She scooped her up and held her close to her chest, and leaned her chin gently on top of Vi's head. "Smile at Daddy, Violet." She said just before the picture snapped. Se hoped it was a good picture as she handed Violet back to her father and borrowed Tyler's phone to take the picture of them. "Aw, you two are so cute," she said after she took a good three pictures. She held out her hands for Violet again, eager to hold her. She was so soft and... Squishy. Her baby fat was just so cute and Lina loved holding her. She didn't want to step into Vi's life as her mother, because that wasn't her job, but she couldn't help feeling a little maternally connected. Spending time with Tyler and Violet made her love their dysfunctional little family immediately. She hoped that they would date for a while; she really liked him.

Lina strolled alongside Tyler, her mood boosted. With Violet balanced on her hip an held in place with a one arm, Lina could hold hands with Tyler with her free hand. She laughed when he got excited over the sea lions, and their pace sped up. They reached the lions habitat in record time, and Lina let go of Tyler's hand so that she could hold Violet up to see. "Look at the fat, squishy lions of the sea!" Lina cooed.

Violet was waving her arms happily at the sea lions and Lina had been pointing each one out to her. She gave them silly names, like "Stinky, he's the one sitting in the food bowl." And "Larry, that one looks like a Larry." Violet giggled a little, though she probably had no clue what Lina meant. She just liked to hear Vi laugh, anyway,it didn't matter if the little girl actually knew what she was saying. It was adorable, and her laugh sounded like tiny bells and pretty fairy things.
Lina was surprised when she got a kiss after Violet did. She leaned into the kiss, even though it was quick, and kissed back. Then she smiled at Tyler, beaming ear to ear. "Uh, what was that for?" She blushed, looking down. A few people were taking glances at them. She wondered what they were thinking - they probably thought that she was Vi's mom. Whatever, let them stare. She liked being part of the family.
