Personality
Ever since he was a child, Martin has been spoiled to the core. He comes from a rich family that claims to have an aristocratic bloodline. Which isn't that hard to believe considering the millions of Euros they have kept in their bank accounts. Like a true heir, Martin is very sublime. He is prideful of Spain, which is the country he comes from and he also takes pride in his money. Think of him as a less, cheap version of Mr. Krabs.
The positive thing about being a brat is having impeccable taste. Martin is very selective and only picks the finest things. He doesn't settle for cheap things and sometimes he offends people by looking down upon them and their bashful choices. Or so what he considers bashful. He doesn't mean to be mean but other people take it to offense despite that he was only stating his opinion.
As a result, Martin is very outspoken. He has made a couple of friends for being honest and despite that he doesn't usually befriend people who aren't on his "level" he likes people who are humble even though he doesn't have tinge of humility in his persona. Martin is a bonafide hypocrite and maybe one day someone might put him in his place but for now, he'll keep being himself.
Background
Maria de los Angeles and Ignacio Cervantes brought Martin and his sister, Blanca in an immensely rich environment. Their mansion in Spain was one of the biggest ever built in the country. Their families descended from Spanish nobility and a large amount of their money came from heredity passed on from Marichuy parents and Ignacio's parents as well
Frankly, Martin and Blanca were spoiled rotten to the core. They were given everything and at hand. The two Cervantes siblings barely had to raise a finger for everything. Let the servants take care of it. The only thing that Martin and his sister ever had to do was learn from their house tutors. They were disciplined, however. Taught to always say please and thank you. Despite being taught this, they always spoke to their maids and butlers with irony. Just spiteful and they only had friends who were in their class status. Only the wealthy kids were their friends and Martin and Blanca showed no humility with the poorer kids.
Their friends were the Wilkes and Richards kids. The Richards originated from England and the Wilkes were from New York but lived in Italy. The other party was far more humble but they got along regardless.
Martin hardly ever saw his parents. He only really received phone calls from them one day per week. He lived a somewhat lonely life and the only people he ever really saw were his house tutors and occasionally his sister but she was attending a private preparatory school in Switzerland at the time when he was only a mere secondary student.
When Marichuy and Ignacio announced that the family would be moving to New York, Martin was displeased. He didn't want to move to New York because there was really nothing there. The thought of the United States was not a pleasing one. He didn't want to leave Spain. However, he only knew it was a sense of insecurity. Martin wouldn't feel as powerful as he did in New York.
He was afraid of the new.
Martin was placed in a private school but he was like a fish out of water considering he had never attended a school outside of his home. Not to mention that his house wasn't as big as the one he used to live in. He was frankly getting sick of his parents crap with this new idea of moving to the United States. It was spiteful.
The Cervantes visited both the Wilkes and the Richards on occasion. They were a tight knit group of friends whose parents knew each other and their grandparents and probably their great-great grandparents. Martin enjoyed spending time with his friends there. They were really the only people he could actually stand. So when Samuel, Riley and Leonardo were enrolled in Somerset, Martin's parents thought it was a bright idea to put their son in that school too.
Not a bright idea.
So far Martin hates it and he would drop out if it didn't mean losing his inheritance. Tough luck, son.
