Caroline had promised to buy Camila a puppy if she behaved like a proper young lady at daycare and started going to bed at her bedtime and not staying up all night running around like an escaped monkey from the zoo. She didn't really think this plan through as she didn't believe that her daughter would really be able to manage but she did. She acted perfectly actually and even did extra things like pick up her toys and eat her vegetables. She was acting like the most amazing almost three year old! How could she not want to bless this child with the happiness and love of a furry friend? Exactly. She couldn't back out now! So despite having a dog already and a cat, she and Aubrey were in the car heading to a less than local breeder. It was a two hour and a half drive outside the city for goodness sake but the happy look on her daughter's face when she met the new puppy would be worth it, right? Oh God she hoped so.
Her daughter was a very mature, very smart young lady but she was still a two year old who was not always happy to be stuck in her car seat for such a long time. It was a miracle that some genius had thought to make toddler friendly apps on the iPad because otherwise they would have been screwed! Camila was able to quietly play and be rear facing as recommended without complaint from anyone which was important to Caroline. She had grown to appreciate the silence of a content child and boyfriend. "I'm kind of excited." She whispered to Aubrey when they were about ten minutes away from the breeder's house. She didn't know if they would for sure be purchasing one of these puppies but she did know that Ingrid had gotten money from Leonardo so she had enough to cover it if they did.
These weren't just any ol' puppies! Their parents were show quality and came from wonderful bloodlines which kind of confused Caroline but she assumed that meant that they were just really great especially with the thousand dollar price tag.. Yeah, they'd better be the cutest puppies in the whole damn world at that price. She'd gotten her other dog for free outside of WalMart so she wasn't sure if this was just something that she wasn't use to but was actually quite common. Her parents always had dogs when she was growing up but they always also came from rescues so this was a whole new ball park and she didn't know what she was really getting her and Aubrey into.
They finally arrived and she could hear the sound of at least three large dogs barking and smell the fresh air from the surrounding area. It was always so nice to be outside of the city for a short period of time. "You ready, Nutella?" She asked with a small smile as she lifted her young daughter out of the car and carried her to the front door hand in hand with Aubrey. An older rather plump woman answered the door and led the couple to the area where the puppies were to show them. It was a litter of five attempting to climb out of their cardboard box and yelping for attention. "Oh my God..." That was it.
She was not leaving until she got one. "Aubrey... Why don't you pick one?" She nudged him gently and glanced from him to the puppies as if trying to assure him that she believed he could pick the right one for them.

Absolutely! Aubrey adored little fur babies. Any type of baby, actually. Which is probably why he had a daughter in the first place. Anywho, he was more than happy to take her to buy another puppy. Sure, they weren't exactly the richest but they did have rich contacts that enjoyed helping them out. Anyways, Aubrey was certain that eventually he would be able to pay Leonardo back for everything he did for them. God bless Leo, he was such a good friend. Maybe not exactly the best person but to Aubrey he was always such a doll. Probably because Leonardo believed Aubrey was the most genuine and kind person he'd ever met. God bless Aubrey, too.
"Me too." he whispered back before looking back slightly while the signal was red and he could without crashing into anything. "Have you thought of a name, Cami?" Aubrey asked with an enthusiastic tone. Having a daughter wasn't such a bad thing. Sure, maybe it wasn't a good thing - to others - but now that Aubrey was a father, he couldn't just turn back time! No, he wouldn't trade Camila for the world. He loved his little dumpling like he loved the color pink.
When they arrived, after all of them got out of the car, Aubrey walked toward Caroline and took her hand. He always did this because he didn't like walking apart. It wasn't like he was trying to prove anything to anyone, just to Caroline.
Aubrey said a hello to the lady as they were welcomed into the kennel. He then smiled closed to Caroline when she asked him if he wanted to pick the puppy. He pursed his lips together and took a few steps forward to get closer to the bundles of joy. "Aw, you guys are adorable." he gushed, petting each and every single one of them. "I wouldn't know which one to pick! I just want to take them all home in the box..." Aubrey could be such a child sometimes. "Oh..." he sighed softly while his eyebrows lowered and he smiled sympathetically to them.
The puppies were all going wild for this new stranger. Although there was one in particular that kept moving his hand up with it's nose so Aubrey could pet it. It was a little jealous one that was seeking his attention. "This seems to like me a lot. It tries to bite me when I move my hand away from it!" he picked it up and rose from his knees. "What do you think?" Aubrey asked while laughing because the puppy was licking his face. He brought it close to Cami and Caroline so they could see it better and up close.

Caroline loved watching Aubrey with the darling puppies. Hell, she loved him with any sort of babies and she couldn't help but admire the sight in front of her. She was still holding Camila while Aubrey played with the little blessings and then when he came over with the one that seemed to have taken a liking to him. She didn't feel like there would be any real difference between one puppy and the next so she didn't think that there would be an issue in which one that Aubrey picked out. "Oh my goodness!" She cooed as she reached her free hand out to stroke the small puppy's head. She knew that it was going to get very large in the next few months which was why she wanted to pick out a six week old puppy as oppose to an older dog from a shelter just so she knew that it would get along with her other dog and the cat.. Sprinkles ran the house despite being barely six pounds and Bella being over a hundred. "Camila, do you like this one?" She asked a tad too enthusiastically.
She just really wanted this dog!
"Yes!" Camila was absolutely adorable when she talked. She just sounded like a precious little angel of happiness and sunshine but what mother doesn't feel that way about their child? "Do you know what you wanna name...." Caroline took a glance to see what gender that the puppy does before continuing, "her?" She laughed weakly at the fact that she had just decided to look at a puppy's private area but that was obviously the only way to tell... As far as she knew at least. "Um... Pineapple!" Pineapple? As in Spongebob lives in on at the bottom of the sea? She didn't know where else she would have possibly gotten Pineapple from since she was allergic so they rarely had it at the house. She pressed her lips to the side of her daughter's face and gently ran her fingers through her hair. Her daughter's beauty never failed to amaze her.. She clearly got that from her father.
She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about naming their new dog after a fruit but they had named their cat after Hello Kitty and an ice cream topping and the other dog was named after a Disney princess so maybe it would just be kind of expected for them to name their new puppy Pineapple. "What do you think, Aubrey? Do you like the name Pineapple?" She asked as she re-positioned Camila on her hip. It was getting to be kind of awkward to hold her all the time now that she was well old enough to walk and well she definitely wanted to but she felt like it'd be rude to just let her loose in someone's house to go and play with their precious puppies. What if they didn't want her to touch them? "Pineapple!" She said happily as she reached her hands out to pet the dog.
It was kind of a cute name now that she heard it more..

The puppy moved her paws around when Caroline reached out to pet it. Aubrey gently moved her closer so she was more accessible to Caroline. The puppy licked her hand then as she did with Aubrey, moved her nose up so she could be petted. Aubrey laughed when Caroline checked for the puppy's gender. "A beautiful, cute girly she is!" he chimed, looking to the puppy before turning his head back to Caroline. He then glanced to Camila when Caroline asked her what she wanted the name of the puppy to be.
Camila was so precious when she talked. Aubrey was proud that their daughter communicated well enough for her age. He saw a genius in her but let us be frank, anyone was smarter than Aubrey — and yes, why yes, Camila did get her beauty from her father. Aubrey thought Camila got her prettiness from her mommy and he just gave her the colors. Yes, the colors.
"Whatever my little princess wants!" Aubrey smiled big before looking to the puppy. Pineapple looked so glad to be called Pineapple. Or maybe it was just because she was being taken home to a lovely family. Aubrey turned to the lady who had welcomed them and said, "We'll take her!"

Pineapple was going to be a strange thing to call if the dog were to ever get loose for any reason but it would be a funny thing to look back on that their young daughter had chose such an unusual name for their dog. The breeder even gave them a strange look when she heard that they were naming the small dog Pineapple but she didn't say anything about that. "Alright... This little girl is the star of the litter. She's one thousand dollars and she comes with a thirty day return but you will not receive all of the money that you paid back because some of that money has gone towards her upkeep and her medical expenses as well as genetic testing to ensure that she will be the best possible dog for your family." Caroline still honestly believed that the puppy was incredibly over-priced but she wasn't going to take it away especially now that Camila was looking at the dog like well like she looked at her.
She let Camila down onto the ground but she was holding her hand and she was just staying next to her side and not even going near the other puppies. She just wanted Pineapple! Caroline wrote the check as quickly as possible and handed it to the woman before lifting Camila back up and kissing her on the cheek. "Are you happy, Nutty?" Nutella and Nutty were special nicknames that Caroline used towards her young daughter. She had wanted to name her Nutella and call her Ella for short but she was vetoed by Aubrey's parents and all of their friends who were only thinking about how this name was going to affect her for the rest of her life. Camila Elizabeth was nice and normal.. She could go by her first name or Cami or even her middle name with absolutely no problem.
The breeder led them back to the front and gave them instructions on care for the puppy and recommended the best puppy food to feed her. It wasn't long before the couple was back in the car, Pineapple was safely in her pretty pink wire crate and Camila was in her car seat. She could easily pet the puppy through the crate and it seemed to have a calming affect on both of them. "Aubrey, do you want to stop at Target on the way home so we can pick up a couple of things for Pineapple? And I think I'm going to need more tampons in the next couple of days." She didn't think that it was so much to ask for considering... What was the harm? Target was fifteen minutes away and they had a two and a half hour drive ahead of them! "Maybe we could grab some lunch?"
