When Lacey began talking about the show, Jaime's mood became upbeat. Not that he was sad but he was a little nervous of her calling him childish. Good thing she didn't. He nodded, "I thought that stone existed. Dragon Land looked so cool." he said with a bright smile before looking down then up at the sky. "I still find myself humming it nowadays. Especially because I work at the daycare center and I like to bring back the old cartoons for the children to enjoy. I remembered learning a lot from them and I think that the kids do too." Jaime wanted to study psychology, in particular children psychology. He wanted to help kids because he believed that children grew up the way they were raised. In a way, he wanted to help them have a much better future. Jaime pursed his lips together, he stared at the cloud intently. "That does look like a kangaroo... A rabbit?" he rose an eyebrow. All these clouds had endless possibilities. They could be anything according to perspective. 1.bp.blogspot.com/-ycCzwrjKawE/UFJlom2m3iI/AAAAAAAAAJw/mqdpZwNKmxk/s1600/IMG_0476.JPG"Now that one," Jaime pointed up at a cloud, "Reminds me of a praying mantis." he nodded.

Lacey turned to look at Jaime when he brought up working at the daycare center, smiling admirably at him, "Aww, that's really sweet," she acknowledged, "you like kids? I've always wanted a little sibling, but my mom sort of decided to stop popping them out after I was born," she shrugged, "but I love babysitting... you know, when I have the chance."
She looked back to the sky and laughed slightly at the cloud, nodding, "I've never seen one like that before," Lacey pursed her lips, sitting up a little straighter, "why haven't we hung out before?" She tilted her head to the side, curiously, "I mean, you'd think we'd be friends," she chuckled, "you seem really cool."

A smile formed on Jaime's face when Lacey smiled at him the way she did. He was an only child, and probably would always be. However, he did have many relatives that were much younger than him and he was like their leader at family gatherings. Jaime was always the one playing the children and his older relatives found that endearing and handy since some were busy having a drink or talking away. "I have a lot of younger cousins. I also think it's because I miss being a kid, too." he explained, turning slightly to face her before smiling closed.
Jaime then rose an eyebrow slightly when Lacey asked why they hadn't hung out before. He looked to her and shrugged politely, "I guess I'm just shy. I don't really approach people... I know, it's a terrible quality. How can you make friends if you're not willing to make an effort in talking to them..." he nodded but he smiled brightly. "Well, we're talking to each other now!" Jaime exclaimed softly. "I'm assuming you're a dancer?" he asked her.

Lacey hugged her knees to her chest and nodded, "I'm still a kid," she grinned, "I'll always be a kid. I've always been a kid," she sighed, "no matter what. If only Neverland was real so I never had to grow up," She giggled, looking down, "I mean, sure, I have a few years left..." she let go of her knees and turned to Jaime, "I just always feel like I'm missing out on something, now, you know?"
When he asked if she was a dancer, Lacey smiled proudly, "That I am," she nodded, "when I was little, I watched this movie called Center Stage, about this girl who really wanted to become a dancer--" she squinted her eyes, "it was a little inappropriate for me to have been watching when I was three, considering the girl in the movie slept with an instructor... which I totally wouldn't do, by the way, but," she laughed at herself for getting off subject, "she just loved what she did, she was so passionate about it -- she moved with such confidence, and I remember wanting to be exactly like that," Lacey tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before sitting forward to reach for something from her bag, taking out her water bottle, "haven't stopped dancing since."
She took a sip from her bottle, then shook her head, "Probably a silly way to get into it, but, we all have our start, right?" She set it down next to her, "So, what do you like to do? You play baseball, of course, right?"

"I think it's never late to be a kid again." Jaime stated somewhat wisely. He was fifteen years old and he had still so much to learn about the world. He'd had a rough year during his childhood but the rest of his life had been normal. There was really nothing too big that made him change, he was almost still the little boy he used to be. In love with life and willing to go against any obstacle if it were to interfere with his life. "We may be looking older but that's really no big deal." he smiled softly.
Jaime then sat down more comfortably and crossed his arms as he listened. He smiled before tilting his head when she said the movie wasn't appropriate for her. "That's good, you look like a girl who has her priorities sorted." he nodded.
"I play baseball, volunteer at the daycare center and I sometimes like to cook. I'm not the best baker, but I am a really good cook if I may say so myself." Jaime smiled softly. "I'm not that interesting." he said while shaking his head.

Lacey nodded in agreement, "You know, I like you," she smiled, "your name has just been added onto my mental list of favorite people," she cocked her head to the side. Not many people got onto Lacey's good side so quickly, and she generally didn't let people in, but Jaime seemed genuine, unlike most people she ran into. She did have a tendency to run with the wrong crowd, be attracted to the wrong people, living up to standards even she herself wasn't sure she wanted to abide by.
"Well, I have my moments," she glanced down then looked back up at Jaime, "I'm sure you're plenty interesting," she shook her head, "I've been having a great time with you the passed... I don't know how long we've been here but I have?" she laughed, "Sorry, I swear, I'm not one of those girls who laughs at everything because she thinks they're all funny," she insisted, "I just, do? No reason behind it, I'm just happy."

A bright smile appeared on Jaime's face. He liked being told he was liked. It made him feel more confident in himself and he felt good, like his day was made. He usually did meet kind people but he never stuck around as long as he had like today with Lacey. Jaime never took the time to meet people and it was always chance that he did. "I like you too." he said with a nod, "If I hadn't been so shy we would have been friends already!" Jaime shook his head. "I guess I never make an effort to make friends."
He looked to her then knitted his eyebrows before shifting his eyes away and looking pensive. "Isn't it like that?" he asked her, "You can be the nicest person and be approachable and all but never take the time to meet people and as result you end up being friendless despite that you're not a bad person?" Jaime supposed that sounded too philosophical. He laughed, "What did I just say? I'm sorry, I'm just blabbering out my thoughts to you." Jaime smiled big, he didn't quite catch what he said either.

"It's a good thing we ran into each other, huh?" Lacey reached over to take another sip of her water bottle and leaned back again, sighing, and shutting her eyes for a second before looking to Jaime again, "And hey, at least you can say you've gained one more friend," she lifted a finger to point to herself, mouthing "me" and winking, playfully, then grinning at herself.
She listened to him as he spoke his thoughts aloud and smiled, "I totally get you," she nodded in understanding, "I.. don't particularly do that myself, I mean, I guess there are some people I'm scared to approach due to the fact that I'm sure they already don't like me," she rolled her eyes, "but, I understand. And now you have me!" Lacey turned to face him now, crossing her legs, criss-cross, applesauce, "If you have any trouble at all with anyone, I mean, I'll help you out," she nudged him, lightly, "I got you."
