Name:
Rebecca Melinda Spicoli
Age:
15
Gender:
Female
Sport/Club:
Cheer, Gymnastics, Cross Country
Grade:
9
Appearance:
Rebecca has a naturally pale skin complexion, though she does have the tendency to use bronzer or self tanner in order to add a bit of color to her skin. Though she is a natural blonde, she dyes her hair brown, as she hates the stereotype that comes along with such a hair color. The girl stands tall at a height of 5 foot 6 inches, slightly above average though not overly much so. Her eyes are almond shaped and hazel colored, which are complimented by her lengthy eyelashes.
Personality:
Rebecca is what you might say, overly-obsessed with her appearance. She constantly thinks something is wrong with her or her body and is always doing something to change herself in some way, whether it be her weight, the length of her hair, etc. She strives for perfection and never believes she can attain it due to her lack of confidence in herself. She has never thought of herself as good enough, for anything, anyone. The girl is too stubborn to believe otherwise and because of this, not many stick around to try and change her mind, only causing her to believe more so how bad of a person, physically and mentally, she is.
The girl is timid. She's very hesitant in terms of trying to speak to people, fearing that they'll judge her and immediately shun her upon speaking. She's not horrendously shy to the point where she will speak to no one, in fact, she does have moments when she can hold a conversation for a long time, given she's in a good mood -- but she's hardly one you would call a social butterfly of any sort.
Rebecca's self-esteem is at an all time low, and she's always sort of fending for someone to notice her and call her pretty, give her that little boost of confidence. She isn't an all around attention whore, but she does sort of push the envelope when she tries to fish out compliments. It can get to the point where it's almost irritating -- she won't post up pictures of herself on the internet and say 'like && comment ! (: x' but she'll constantly ask a person if she looks alright, if her hair is okay, etc., until she's satisfied... which she almost never is.
She likes to push herself, sometimes way passed her limits. Rebecca is afraid of failure, and because of all the things she piles up on her plate, she really wants to impress anyone and everyone just to feel accepted, which causes a lot of stress for her. Relationship wise, she tends not to get involved with very many people because the added weight of a boyfriend on her table would make her extremely weary.
Overall, if you get to know the girl, she can be very sweet. She doesn't enjoy pushing people away, she's working at it. She's sort of naive, and is easily taken advantage of, doesn't know how to stand up for herself half the time because if she loses a friend, she's afraid she'll be alone, isolated. Rebecca isn't used to having people around, so she holds tight onto the ones she has.
Background story:
Most of Rebecca's childhood memories reflect from her closet. It was the only place in her home where she could drown out the yelling, the loud smacks, the slamming of doors... though she never once witnessed what went on, she knew what was happening. Her father was an alcoholic. He'd gotten laid off and hadn't told the family until it was too late... they'd been spending money on things they didn't have, and soon grew bankrupt. Neither one of the girl's parents took it well, taking it out on each other, her mother getting the worst of it. Each night, Rebecca's dad would come home sloppily drunk, and each night, her mother would send Rebecca up to her room, ordering her to hide inside of her closet, just so their little girl wouldn't suffer through any of the harm.
One night, Ramona couldn't handle it anymore. There was only a certain amount of beatings she was going to take until she fought back. And she did. Rebecca was in her room when she heard the gunshot.
Seeing her mom escorted into that police car was the last memory Rebecca had of the woman. She was only seven at the time. Child services later connected to Ramona's younger brother, Jed, Rebecca's uncle, whom was given custody of the young child. Jed was young, in his mid-twenties, a businessman -- he didn't have time to look after a child! But.. Rebecca was family. The only one he had around now that his sister was gone, and so, he took her in. Around the time Rebecca turned nine, the very small family found themselves in a bit of money; Jed, along with his partner, Evan, created a very successful company for a renowned new website... Twitter.
