About My Character:
Full Name: Jessica Rose Raine, but she also goes by Jess, Jessie, and Rose.
Age: 18. Born June 16.
Gender: Female
Grade: Senior baby!
Sports/Clubs: Photography and film.
Appearance: Standing at a whole 5' 11" without heels Jessica was an awkward giant after she hit her growth spurt in eighth grade. She has a round-heart shaped face and her eyes are a blue-grey. Jessica has fair skin and naturally blonde hair, but it changes from black to white to pink to red to any color really. She is incredibly skinny, but that's because her job requires her to be. Jessica during the day wears her regular makeup, it doesn't stand out, and it just looks natural.
Jessica's outfits are very casual and comfy. Her job requires her to wear very high heels and often uncomfortable outfits. So, to compensate for all that uncomfortableness Jessica wears leggings, comfy jeans, or sweats on a regular basis. She will wear a t-shirt and a hoodie or sweatshirt. Uggs and converse are usually seen on her feet and in the summer flats and sandals. Don't get her wrong, she has an incredible taste in fashion and she knows how to dress other people (she actually enjoys styling other people), she just doesn't want to try that hard herself so she doesn't. The irony is her closet is filled with the newest fashion and top brands clothing items that she hasn't worn because she just doesn't want to.
On occasion, when she does dress up Jessica goes all out. She can wear the fanciest dresses from the hottest designers and even get dresses that aren't just on sale yet--all thanks to her profession. Jessica knows how to dress, and when she's asked out to a dance or on a nice date she can dress up nicely if it's required. Jessica often goes all out when it comes to fancy and formal events, other than that she's just seen her usual outfits.
Personality: Jessica is a very guarded person, she doesn't let a lot of people in, for fear they are just using her or are going to scam her in some way. She is very business smart because she's in the modeling business--but that's also where her guardedness came from. She doesn't want to be a victim, ever. She's also very insecure about herself since she's grown up and adjusted to people constantly criticizing her body, face, etc. because she is a model. Casting directors can be very tough, and if one little feature on your body is wrong, you're not hired. She even gets self-conscious about her height and sometimes wishes she were shorter, even though her height is something some other models would kill for. Although she is a very successful model. She's not a snob like most would think, she's not exactly humble either, she's average. She doesn't like talking about herself, but she's not humble in the annoying way where she refuses to take a compliment. Most of her self-consciousness and hate towards herself is suffered in silence.
She's not shy, because you can't be shy in the modeling industry you must have personality, but she's quiet. She's good at faking being out going when she's really not, a skill she's honed thanks to years in the business. She probably isn't going to be the one to say "hello" first and in order to be her friend, if she even lets you get that far, you have to be patient with her guarded ways. Once you do make it into her circle of really close friends, Jessica trusts them with everything and tells them everything. The process takes a very long time though, because even those she considers her 'friends' she has a hard time talking to and confiding in.
Jessica, as a friend, is good at listening. She prefers to listen to someone rant rather than rant herself--she saves her ranting for her absolute closest friend [undetermined at this time]. She often feels honored when her friends trust her enough to tell her things about their lives, and she loves hearing about their problems because she would rather focus on them (and fixing them) than her own problems. So, once someone has become a friend with Jessica, they've found someone whom they can talk to for hours on end without fear of judgement or hate. Jessica is very open-minded and she has her opinions, but she's good at keeping them to herself when need be and she's also good at giving advice.
If Jessica has an enemy or doesn't like someone, she doesn't waste her energy bashing on them. She focuses on things that are important to her, like her modeling career, rather than focusing on the negative energy of her enemies. She takes whatever blows people give her in silence, as mentioned before, she's quiet and she's not particularly a fighter.
She gets lonely from time to time; she really just needs someone and wants someone that she can trust wholeheartedly and unconditionally. Someone she can tell absolutely everything to without having to worry about judgement. She needs a real, true best friend (whether it be a love interest/boyfriend or just some girl) but so far, by her standards, no one has seemed to be able to handle the complicated mess that is Jessica Rose Raine. Sure, she's let some of her closest friends in, but not all the way she hides her anorexia from everyone and she also hides her drinking from everyone. There are still a lot of things that she doesn't tell her closest friends.
Jessica gets overwhelmed at times and often gets depressed looking at her own image. She's a gorgeous girl, otherwise she wouldn't be as successful as she is in modeling, but she just doesn't see it. She constantly has critiques about her body in her head. When she becomes so overwhelmed Jessica breaks down and cries and drinks. You could say she's a bit of an alcoholic, but she only gets drunk when she's in her own room alone and when she gets so depressed about herself. Sometimes she just needs to drink the world and her worries away.
Background: Jessica grew up in a middle class family, she had an average childhood. Funny enough, Jessica always seemed to be the tomboy she was into sports and seemed to be the next multi-talented sport star. But then her growth spurt hit in eighth grade and she was the awkwardly tall giant that towered over everyone even throughout high school. Once that occurred, she dropped the sports that she enjoyed so. She felt too awkward, and her insecurity that was already growing was accelerated through constant teasing. Her friends and even people she didn't know teased her because of her height. Boys called her the "Blonde Giant" because she was taller than them in middle school and they were intimidated. Middle school is not something Jessica looks back to fondly. Neither is her high school years either. Honestly, Jessica just can't wait to get out of high school and be able to live on her own without the awkwardness and social interactions of school.
Jessica got her lucky breakthrough when she was walking through the streets of NYC with her mother. She was walking in front of a modeling agency and modeling for her mother (who was a photographer and often took pictures of Jessica for practice) when an agent noticed her. He immediately asked her to come inside for an interview and to possibly become signed with the company. After a few small shoots, Jessica hit it big in a photo-shoot campaign for a new fragrance. Once she was discovered everyone was clamoring for the gorgeous, akwardly tall, sixteen-year-old. She was hired by IMG and also signed contracts with top modeling agencies in Paris and LA as well. She quickly rose to the top and super model stardom and is still living the "fab" life today.
She was always told school was important, but she never believed it. Jessica doesn't really want to do anything with her life after high school except continue modeling. And when she can't model any longer, she wants to become a fashion designer, or a photographer who then photographs other models. Either way, she wants to remain in the fashion business even if it isn't modeling. Jessica honestly doesn't know how she's made it through high school this far, her grades aren't great, her attendance is even worse, she doesn't really try at school. She gets by with C's and D's. But she doesn't care because she doesn't plan on going to college. The only thing that keeps her from failing is the fact that she's not a senior, and failing would result in her having to come back to Somerset. Which she really doesn't want to do.
"The Lucky One" by Taylor Swift would describe Jessica's current life. From the outside, she may look like she has it all--she's a successful model, she's super-mega rich, and she gets to travel the world to walk in fashion shows--but in reality she really doesn't. Jessica's parents didn't die in some tragic accident, they just calmly passed away one year after the other beginning when Jessica was seventeen (first her mother, then once she was eighteen her father). Since she is eighteen , she's old enough to live on her own and support herself and she certainly makes enough money to do so as well. Jessica has always battled with her weight because her modeling job requires her to be so skinny, and she has battled anorexia ever since she entered the business when she was sixteen. Jessica hides her anorexia well, and she eats on occasion and it's usually just a salad or watermelon (she eats usually when in the presence of her agent and friends so they won't catch on), she also uses the fact that she's a model as a cover up story. She needs to be skinny because she is required to be to be in the business, but she doesn't need to be as skinny as she actually is.
Jessica stayed at the dorms at Somerset until she was seventeen, she then moved out and bought her own, rather large, house since she could afford it. She lives there now with a dog and two goldfish. Since the girl makes more than 1.2 million per year, she can afford some of the finer things in life and splurge any time if she wanted to.
About Me:

How long have you been role playing/writing? Nine years at least, probably more.
