The McConaughey Family Jeep. Technically, its Mrs. McConaughey's as Mr. has his own company car. But Rusty uses it all the time because he's lazy and doesn't wanna work to buy his own. any money that he makes is spent on food or pointless articles of clothing

Rusty had started towards the back end of the Jeep before Carol had any chance to object. "Nah nah, I'm gonna teach you how to skate, bro," he was saying, swatting his arm in the air trying to get her to agree and calm down. Its not like he was gonna teach her flips or anything.. he just wanted to see her ride it. He had quite a bit of confidence in her. For no reason at all. They'd only just come out of the movie about ten minutes ago. Pitch Perfect.. that's what they'd seen. Rusty had enjoyed it, really. But he'd never say that out loud. When Carol asked, he just sorta nodded and said "the puke scenes were golden". But in his heart, he loved it. Even so, he was now already bored and looking for something fun. Of course he'd brought his skateboard and had been talking about it when Carol mentioned having never used one before. And that brings us back to Rusty digging around in the back of the Jeep. "You're gonna learn, and you're gonna rock," he said proudly as he pulled his skateboard from the Jeep and let it drop to the ground. Placing a foot on top, he smiled at Carol. "Can you stand on it at least?" he asked mockingly with a cute smile. { www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=69263007 }

Carol laughed, "You're such a jerk!" She had pretty good balance because of being a flyer for cheerleading and then gymnastics, so that should be a good thing. But she'd never even stepped on a skateboard, much less had someone try to teach her. She put on foot tentatively on it, and then placed both of her hands on his shoulders to better balance herself. When both of her feet her on it, she looked back up at him. "Now what?" She asked with a smile. To any by-stander, this probably looked like a romantic gesture. It totally wasn't though. She of course had Wyatt, and she was pretty sure he had a girlfriend or something. Besides, even if they were both single, it just wasn't like that. ooc: I suck, I'm sorry D:

"Well now if you were a dude I'd drop you and let you fall," he said with a chuckle before shaking his head. "Now just.. I dunno. Its hard to explain. Here, lemme show you." Gently, he put his hands on her arms to steady her so she could step off. Getting on was easy, but getting off was usually where your other foot swung out from under you and sent you to the ground. Luckily, he'd balanced her enough and both her feet were back on the ground. Placing his right foot on the board, Rusty smiled at Carol.
"Watch and learn," he said in his best 'cool' voice before pumping his left leg and heading for an arm rail on a staircase. Once he reached it, Rusty jumped the board and attempted a kick-flip. But alas, his foot got stuck and he was sent face first over the rail. A sharp pain rose through his shin as he lay face on the ground, legs wrapped over top of the railing. "Fuck," he grunted, pulling himself all together into a sitting position. "That's NOT how you do it," he yelled back to Carol, waving his arm around in the air. He tried to stand, but he was gonna need some help.

Carol ran over to Rusty when she saw him fall. "Oh my god, are you okay?" She asked bending down to look at his leg. She gently moved his hand so she could see the injury. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't pretty. He looked like he may have sliced his shin on the jagged metal end of the rail. He'd probably need stitches at the most, and if not, some intense band-aids would do just about the same thing. His nose was bleeding a bit too. Probably broke it. Poor thing. She didn't have any tissues or anything since she wasn't an old person, but if they got him to a doctor soon enough it'd probably be fine.
She pursed his lips, "I think you might need stitches Rusty," she said after a moment. "Or you know what? Looks like it might have to be amputated. It's okay though. We'll tell everyone you got attacked by a shark and didn't totally bust your ass outside of a movie theatre." She laughed and then helped him to his feet, letting him bear some of his weight on her. "Come on, I'll drive you to the hospital. Maybe if you pitch a fit we won't have to wait for ten years."
She helped him in the car, and then took the keys from him. "I swear I won't crash your car," she joked as she put the keys in the ignition and started it. "I wish I drove a jeep. I mean, don't get me wrong — I love Cecile. But this is so much nicer. Big though," she was just kind of talking out loud as she scooted the seat up closer to the wheel so she could reach the pedals. This was definitely bigger than anything she'd ever driven. She could handle it though. It's not like anything bad was going to happen.

"I'll be fiiine," Rusty said as he was pulled to his feet and leaned with his arm around Carol. As he hobbled back to the car, Rusty couldn't help but deny the trip to the hospital. He needed it, it was true. He could literally feel that his nose was out of place. But a hospital made him feel weak. And that's not how Rusty McConaughey worked. "No really I don't need a doctor.." he said about a million times. But she was persistent, and even offered to drive. Which was something he couldn't refuse because with this gash, he wouldn't even be able to lift his foot to the gas. He couldn't walk, how was he supposed to drive?
Once the two had been settled into the car, Rusty nodded along and smiled as she talked about how much she loved the Jeep. "Yea man its my mom's pride and joy," he said as he switched on the radio. "Dude if you wreck..." he shook his head and smiled. "We're gonna need a better excuse than a shark bite." Laughing, Rusty belted in and rolled down his window. Within a minute, Carol had driven out of the parking lot and onto the street. It was late, but there were still a few cars and the speed limit was fifty five. A small bump sent Rusty's hands to his now throbbing shin. It really wasn't all that bad of a cut, but he'd definitely gotten some major bruising. And fuck, he'd gotten blood on his favorite jeans! For a moment, Rusty bent forward to where his head was under the dash so he could reach his feet. He'd been straining to take his shoe off when there was a loud screech.
It was only seconds.
Head up, Rusty saw the flash of headlights fly up into the air and in the direction of he and Carol. Things seemed to slow down as he watched Carol's body flip towards his to duck and saw the headlights getting closer and closer. Instinctively, Rusty's arms were up to cover his face. There was a crack, another screech, a feeling of falling, and only a pinch of pain before everything went black.

Everything happened much too quickly for Carol to grasp. One second she was talking to Rusty, and the next she was hanging upside down as he lay unconscious next to her. She could barely grasp what just happened. She saw the Chevy jump the median, plow into the Honda in front of them, and then everything was blurry. She tried closing her eyes and pretending it wasn't happening, but it didn't work. She felt the car crush her side and she held her grip on the wheel with everything in her. Even when she felt her arm snap in half.
And then it was pain. Excruciating pain. She didn't notice herself screaming, just felt her throat go dry. Everything hurt, and she was absolutely terrified. There was blood. Everywhere, and she couldn't tell how much of it was hers or how much of it was Rusty's. She didn't want to think about how badly she must have hurt him. The way he was looking now...she was almost sure he was dead. But that didn't stop her from screaming his name over and over again.
Finally she figured that she needed to get out. It seemed like she was hanging there for hours, but it was barely a few minutes. Her entire left side was unresponsive and she could tell that her arm was broken. No saying about her leg... She unbuckled her seat belt, but where she expected her body to fall on the other side of the car, her left leg stayed put. That was when she knew she had to look, and immediately she wished she hadn't. It was crushed, and stuck under the destroyed dashboard. There was no way she could just walk away from this.
She must have blacked out, because the next thing she remembered, she was being wheeled down big white hallway. She felt tears running down her cheeks, but she wasn't aware that she was sobbing. Her throat was scratchy like she'd been screaming, and now doctors and nurses were shoving tubes up her nose and down her windpipe. The people around her were hurriedly mumbling medical terms, but she couldn't comprehend anything. She heard something about surgery and then a clear mask was placed over her face and she was out cold.
