Lorelai feels like quite the cliche. She, like Annabel, Beatrice and Esme, is a natural blonde and she's rather short standing at 5'4 though that does make her taller than Esme. She has always been larger ... Not overweight but larger than her sisters and she doesn't mind that. She doesn't want to fit into a size one like Esme! She would much rather be the way that she is because she's comfortable in this skin.
Personality:
She's always been in the shadow of her siblings and she has always hated it. She doesn't exactly want everything to be always all about her but she does want to be at least recognized when she does something that's good which was almost possible growing up around Esme. She says that her older sister suffers from 'princess-ism' which she use to think was a good thing but she's discovering that it comes with it's faults meaning that she is set on a higher standard than the others.
Background:
William Reynolds told his wife, Kendra that he had gotten a vasectomy following the birth of their twins, Cooper and Esme. He felt like doing so would be taking away from his manhood so he lied and just faked a recovery then the couple resumed their sex life though now no protection was being used. He didn't think that it would even be possible for them to have another child especially given the fact that they were only having sex every two or three months at this point but he was proven wrong when Kendra came to him and announced that she was four months pregnant. Her cycles had always been irregular and she was under the impression a pregnancy simply could not happen so she hadn't tested until she absolutely couldn't wait any longer. The couple agreed that they would not continue the pregnancy but was told by several doctors that it was illegal to perform an abortion at this stage. They decided to find out the gender of their unborn baby but nobody was attached especially after discovering that she was just having another daughter. It wasn't quite gender disappointment because they would have likely rejected the idea of another son as well but being another girl just felt like it was redoing their past. They already had Annabel, Beatrice and Esme!
Lorelai was born on Halloween night at seven-thirty-eight at night. She was actually almost two months premature which concerned the entire family. She weighed a mere three pounds and doctors were unsure whether or not she was going to even survive her first night outside of the womb. It was three weeks before Kendra and William were even allowed to hold their newborn daughter. The hospital had a strict rule against anyone under fourteen going into that area of the hospital so none of her siblings got to meet her until she was released when she was four months old. Cooper and Esme were unimpressed when they first met Lorelai but they were only two years old at the time so it made sense for them to not exactly celebrate the fact that they had a small screaming sister. Bee was four at the time and going through a bit of a jealous phase so she spent the first week throwing her dolls at her and sweet Annabel wanted to spend all day holding the sweet new bundle. She even got the others to come around because that was just who she was even then at a mere seven years of age.
Lorelai was easily forgotten especially when she had to compete for attention with Esme from their father who had already decided that he had a favorite and that wasn't going to change ever. She was rarely at home from the time that she was six and she was placed in a gymnastics group for young children. She was actually fairly good at it! She loved it from the first day and she begged her mother and father to pay for her to continue attending and they did though it was mostly to keep her out of the house more often. She was one of those little girls that you just felt bad for because it was obvious that she tried really hard but nothing was ever good enough for the attention that she seemed to so desperately craved. It wasn't necessarily her family's fault, at least not entirely, that they weren't always there for her. Both William and Kendra had hectic jobs and, of course, other children who demanded time as well.
Usually, Kendra just had time to take each of the children to their respective activities before getting home to make dinner. Annabel was heavily involved in drama, Cooper had his art and Esme was in soccer then there was Lorelai and her gymnastics. She got into cheerleading when she started second grade and she realized just how much that she loved it. She had the bubbly personality for it! And she was finally getting the attention that she felt like she deserved.
She excelled over the years and her family actually began noticing but she and her sister, Esme were growing closer until suddenly.. it was like she didn't exist. Why? Esme met Dallas Kennedy and she didn't have any time for her twelve year old sister. She wanted the time that they use to spend together back but she couldn't compete with Dallas and she resented him. She prayed every single night that the pair would break up and even went as far as to buy a pair of thong underwear and pretend that she had seen them fall from Dallas's pocket.
She regrets this for many reasons now but mostly because her 'cheating' story turned out to be so very true. She couldn't stand it... She couldn't stand that she could hear her sister crying every night over some boy mistreating her and she made a vow to herself not to allow that to happen. She was never going to fall for the wrong boy and let him break her heart like she saw Dallas slowly doing to Esme. A year and four months of being kept up all night by either moans or sobbing and the couple broke up which led to something that neither sister is exactly willing to open up about.
It was more so Esme's fault that any of it happened, really, she was pissed off over her break up and she wanted to do something. She wanted to go to some stupid party and get wasted then have sex with the first guy she saw in an obvious attempt to make Dallas jealous. Lorelai was only thirteen at the time but she wasn't about to pass up the chance to spend time with her favorite sister. They spent hours getting ready and she was even allowed to walk in at her sister's side but that didn't last long.
Esme saw Kegan Conley and well... we all know how that ended. She left her thirteen year old sister alone with a bunch of older drunk teenagers who she didn't even know and one thing led to another which led to her getting sloppy almost passed out drunk with some senior. The pair ended up on a couch half-naked when Esme finally returned from her horrible sex with Kegan. She, of course, rescued Lorelai and tried to sneak her back in but that was far easier said than done.
Both of them were completely and utterly trashed so driving was a gamble leading to Esme attempting to speed home. She lost control of the car and crashed into an old oak tree that she and Dallas's initials were carved into. It was near the lake that the pair use to hang out by sometimes. She would never admit this to anyone but it wasn't quite an accident.. She wanted to destroy every piece of them that she had and she never ever thought about her younger sister's safety during this. She was selfish and stupid and incredibly lucky that neither of them were seriously injured.
