About My Character:
Full Name: Matthew Lucien Kale
Nickname: Lucid
Age: 16 born on September 4th, 1996
Gender: Male
Grade: Senior
Sports/Clubs: Track & Field, Debate
Appearance: Matthew, who goes by Lucid most of the time, has ash brown hair that comes to his jaw. It is shaved on the sides and is relatively wavy but he generally straightens and cures his lengthy section. He has a pouting face with oval blue eyes. They aren't brilliant blue, more of a grey or foggy one. He has broad shoulders and a skinny build with several body modifications that he'd gotten in the past year. He is about six feet tall with an average weight and slightly off-putting gait. He walks without raising his feet an inch off of the ground so it appears that he is shuffling along frequently. He generally wears loose fitting clothing and a skater-punk style.
Personality: Lucid is a very boisterous person, but his voice is so mellow that you'd probably think otherwise. He's a trouble maker and a party starter. With no inhibitions he gets into a lot of trouble, and with his lack of self-preservation he also has a knack for getting physically hurt. He loves learning through experience and has a rather well tuned mind and a great vocabulary. His well spoken attributes makes him an interesting debate member, and a very unique friend. He can be callous and sometimes passive-aggressive in attempts to avoid conflict. He is deeply afraid of losing affection from people and having unrequited emotions.
Background: Matthew Kale was born to a surrogate birth and two mothers. Yes, he is of a LGBT family and this has brought enough prejudice in his life. Though he was brought up with love and understanding, a lot of the world had found his living situation repulsive. In a sort of rebellion, Matthew found himself in loads of negative activity and an undermining of his natural abilities. His mothers Jane and Yasmine Kale had always been supportive, but eventually they felt they'd lost control. As his grades slipped in middle school, and his bullying continued, his parents felt it best that he was sent to Somerset High. The school seemed accommodating and gave his parents a way to love their son from a distance. Matthew was always easy to nurture, he was never the type to crave attention nor abhor it. Somehow he tended to find himself in the center of conflicts and jealous disputes, but never was the instigator and was usually the bystander. His mother Yasmine is a Serbian woman with a high level education and a sort of condescending nature. Matthew learned from her to appreciate his life and everything that he was blessed to have. His mother Jane was always a firm believer in the good of people, no matter how roughly she'd been treated in the past. Though he was brought up with good moral values and a firm sense of optimism, he still has a nagging bit of cynicism that he can't seem to rid himself of. He's definitely not a pessimist, but he definitely does not see the good in current social/political situations. However, he does see the possibility for change. Because of his parents' different lifestyle, his family is rather small out of choice.
Other: Matthew is sensitive about LGBT issues, naturally, but feels strangely about being in a group for it. Perhaps his own sexuality (being straight) often gets questioned. He has been known to get physical when people are intolerant to his situation. He is intolerant of intolerance. Also, he is a year ahead in school due to his honors programs in middle school.
