Name: Derek Mathaw
Age/DOB: Derek is 17. His birthday is June 12th, 1995.
Grade: 12th grade, Senior
Sports/Activities: Lacrosse has always been Derek’s sport, ever since he was young. It even runs in his family - his great-grandfather started the tradition, and every generation since, there has been at least one lacrosse player in the family. Either he’s playing on the team or training for the next season, non-stop.
Appearance: Derek was the last baby in the family, the youngest. When he was born, everyone knew he would turn out to be another great Mathaw - except, he didn’t look like any of his family members. His Italian family was known for their olive-skin and dark, almost-black hair. Derek was born a natural blonde, with a medium-fair skin color. He even had freckles growing up, and bright blue eyes to go with his light features. It was definitely an interesting thing to see on the family outings - two parents and four children, all with obvious Italian traits, plus the one oddball kid that made up the group.
A slight Irish background in his family managed to find it’s way into Derek’s genes. As he grew older, his eye color changed from a bright blue to a blue-and-hazel mix. His hair became a more sandy color after he reached puberty. He was always a thin, gawky kid, but when he entered his teen-years, he started working out to gain muscle mass.He stands at 5’ 9” exactly, with a strong build from the constant training. He has a kind face with a slightly too-perfect nose, bushy eyebrows, and a shadow of a mustache. His hair used to be long and shaggy, but he got it cut and spikes it with gel. As for clothing-style, Derek sticks to whatever’s popular and comfortable - nice shirts, jeans, good sneakers, a blazer. Preppy but not too dorky - that’s how he likes it.
Personality:
Cocky: Derek knows that he’s smarter than the rest, and one of the best lacrosse players on the team. He’s a cut-throat competitive, and when he knows he’s good, he brags about it. It’s not like he’s rude, but he know’s he’s at the top.
Protective: He’s a family man, and he grew up to know that your friends and family matter most. When he gets close to someone, he expects them to be friends for ever. He cares about his friends and any other relationships he has with people. If someone threatens who he loves, he’s there to back them up.
Gentleman: Derek is a polite kid. Sure, he’s no pushover, and he’s definitely not a weakling. however, he’s not some macho dude who’s a total dickface. He treats women with respect, and knows the entire brocode. He’s polite and responsible and totally the guy you could take home to meet your parents.
Partier: He’s the kind of guy who’ll go out for a drink (even though he’s too young). He’s a risk-taker. He gets his kind of high off of adrenaline. Now, he’s not gonna go around and tag bill boards or break into houses, that’s stupid. But he likes to have fun - partying, drinking, dancing, clubbing, whatever.
History: Elena and Damien Mathaw were your average couple. They met in highschool, continued their relationship after college, and got married before they were thirty. The two moved from Georgia to South Carolina, bought a house, and lived their lives. They started a farm, on a large plot of land. Damien worked as a doctor, which brought in the money that they needed for the family. The money they earned from the farm was extra to put aside. Before they were forty, they had three kids and almost a million saved up. They spent it right and could afford to dote upon their children whenever they wanted to.
Derek was the second-to-last baby, the fifth. He lived a pretty plush life, only having to work on the farm and get good grades - and play lacrosse. He had friends, family, all the fun he could want. When he was fourteen, though, he got hit with the lacrosse stick, right across the nose. It caused extended damage - so much that he needed rhinoplasty. His parents rushed him to the emergency room, waved their cash around, and insisted he get his nose fixed - no one even asked him if that was what he wanted. Within a week, he could take the bandages off and admire the perfection on his face.
After that, however, things went downhill. Upon his return to school, he lost all the respect he had worked to get. His popularity took a plunge, all the guys on the lacrosse team laughed whenever they saw him, and even the teachers had a little giggle about it in the staff room. No one took him seriously anymore, just because he got a nose job and that wasn’t “manly” enough. So, he asked his parents if he could go to Somerset, and they sent his little sister with him. They needed a “fresh start” and they found it in the halls of a new school.
Other:
- No one knows he has a nose job, here. But the surgery causes occasional nose bleeds and he’s very afraid of getting hit in the face.
- He has a southern draw at times.
- Derek is straight, and still a virgin
