Those were the best words Lacey could have possibly said. Luke felt and overwhelming sense of happiness wash over him. It was as if everything was falling back into place. He had Lacey back, and wasn't going let either of them mess this up again. It was clear that they needed each other in some way, in a real way, too, not a sexual way (though that was of course a plus).
Luke pulled the girl tighter against his body, and bowed his head so he could kiss the top of her head. "So we're finally official," Luke smiled after a minute, loosening his hold around Lacey. He cradled her face in his hands before planting a kiss on her lips.

The way they'd started out had Lacey seriously thinking that nothing would have ever escalated this far with she and Luke. She'd figured their whole friendship-with-benefits was going to fade out in a matter of weeks, considering she never really held interest in a person for so long -- but when those weeks turned into months, and when those months turned into a year, when she noticed that he was the only one she found herself sleeping with for so long... she knew she was feeling something different, something no guy made her feel like. Lacey almost didn't care about the label, knowing that Luke was there, with her, right now made her feel like the whole world was on her side.
"Official.." she half-laughed, "I can honestly say I like the sound of that," she nodded, lowering her eyes for a moment. She couldn't remember the last time she felt this happy. For so long, she'd bottled up any emotions she had, his it all in the back of her mind, refused to feel anything, for anyone, but Luke brought it out of her, and she just felt alive, like a real person. "Lukas Ryan is my boyfriend," she said, aloud, curious as to how the words sounded coming out of her, "I have a boyfriend..." she let out a breath, "that's new." Lacey smiled, "I like it."

No matter how many ways Luke tried to think of it, he realized that in the end, Lacey was the one every time. The one girl he'd held interest in, the one girl he actually wanted something with, the one girl who he couldn't get off of his mind. In a way, they had been together for a year before. Sure there was no label, but most people knew what was going on between them. It wasn't like they told everyone, but people figure things out, and eventually he was being asked if they were dating. Saying yes was always his first instinct, but he had to say no because he knew Lacey didn't want that. Now, he couldn't wait for someone to ask him if it was true. He wanted to tell everyone - Post it on twitter and facebook and instagram - just plaster their faces everywhere so all these guys would know that Lacey Samuels was his.
"Lacey Samuels, is, my, girlfriend," Luke whispered between kisses. "The beautiful Lacey Samuels." He smiled and pecked the tip of her nose. "What now?" He grinned at her. Luke was so anxious to get out and show the world, that finally, they were together, like, actually together, but at the same time, he knew there was so much time they had to make up for.

Lacey had been smiling so much that it was almost starting to hurt -- but she didn't care, she hadn't been this happy in a long time, and honestly, she just wanted to savor this moment. This was definitely the way to start off the school year. Summer had been horrible. Every guy she'd been with apart from Luke just didn't measure up... emotionally speaking, of course. She didn't connect with anybody the way she did with him, because he was the only relevant person in her mind. And he still is.
Lacey took his hand and let out a breath, "Make up for lost time?" she raised an eyebrow, glancing around the room. Everyone had a right to be jealous of their cuteness right then. "We could go back to my dorm and..." she cocked her head to the side and smiled, slyly, "catch up?"

Try as he might, it was difficult for Luke to ignore the stares and people who thought they were sneaky (but were quite the opposite) trying to get a peek at the couple. Couple. It was impossible to say that the two weren't cute together. Anyone who didn't know them could have easily thought they were just a couple who hadn't seen each other over the summer. Well, half true.
He snapped out of his thoughts. "Lost time?" Luke smiled at her, and raised an eyebrow back. Placing a hand on her lower back, Luke pulled Lacey closer so their bodies we pressed against each other. These two alone together couldn't possibly be a good thing - at least not for the neighbors. "You know I'm always down for that, baby." Luke kissed her lips. "Which hall are you in?" Since their last names were so close to each other, hopefully they would be in same hall. That would make sneaking around a lot easier, which Luke did plan on doing. And he had a feeling Lacey would be up for that as well.

"Grayson," Lacey smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear before wrapping her arms around Luke's neck and leaning up to kiss him. She'd missed this -- having him there with her. Normally when Lacey thought about relationships, she felt like she'd be suffocated, tied down... she'd seen so many guys cheat on their girlfriends like it was no big deal, like it was so easy for them to hurt somebody that supposedly meant so much to them, at least, that's how it looked on the surface to her. That's why she normally liked calling the shots, it's why she didn't get serious with Luke when they first got started. Lacey never thought she'd get attached, or that, he'd end up being such a great guy to her. They may have had their moments, but their feelings never fell apart.
Lacey knew Luke's last name was Ryan, which, alphabetically, was, or should be, directly next to Samuels -- so, no doubt their dorms should be in the same building. And even if they weren't, Lacey was sure she could find out plenty of ways to sneak out to see him after hours, it wasn't like she'd done that before, anyhow. "Shall we go?" she raised an eyebrow, intently.
