Maira has naturally wavy, long, blonde hair. Just like her grandfather, she has a lot of hair and sometimes it becomes almost unmanageable. For those days as well as practice and game days, she keeps her luscious mane in a high ponytail. Although her pink lips are not Angelina-Jolie-full, they aren't too thin, either. She has a fair complexion and gets sunburned rather easily, which is why she always has to apply sunscreen before she goes outside.
Maira is 5'4" and weighs approximately 115 lbs. She likes to wear dresses, but that doesn't mean she can't rock a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. In her opinion, the outfit isn't complete without accessories, so you can bet your ass she's got bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings of every color known to man.
Personality:
She is a total sweetheart. Very soft-spoken, but also very smart. Maira has a passion for reading and always carries a book in her bag. She does extremely well in school because she actually enjoys learning and the good grades were just a bonus. However, when it comes to things other than school, Maira is very forgetful. For this reason, she also carries a notepad with a list of things to do and little reminders throughout the day.
Maira's no pushover, though. She stands her ground and doesn't believe in school popularity, or at least not the way the cheerleaders and jocks see it. In her perspective, as long as she keeps hitting the books, the kids who made fun of her are going to be working for her. Of course, she never actually says this because Maira was taught to be humble. (Hey, they started it when they made fun of her.)
Background:
Originally, Adam and Lisa Beckham had planned to name their daughter Maria, but due to a simple mistake, the two discovered a name that they loved even more—Maira.
Adam and Lisa met in college in New York City and married just three years later. They hated how congested the place was and decided to move to Canada, where they purchased a beautiful home. When Lisa found out she was pregnant, the two were adamant on staying in Montreal, but after much thought, they decided it was best if their child grew up near family. It would be a shame to deprive their baby of such a privilege.
So, the Beckhams sold their house and took a road trip back to New York when Lisa was seven months pregnant (don't try this at home) and moved in with Grammy and Pop Pop. This allowed Adam and his wife to work full time while his parents babysat. Then, when everyone was home, they had a family dinner together, everyday.
Maira was blessed from the day she was born and instead of taking advantage of that and becoming spoiled, she decided she would repay it by studying hard and making good grades. It might seem miniscule now, but good grades led to scholarships for college, which would then lead to a good job. It was all still a work in progress-- Maira is now in grade 10 and has quite a ways to go.
