Appearance
Michael is naturally tan, with dark colored hair and brown eyes. He has a precise jawline with a finely shaped chin. He's not the tallest guy out there, standing at 5'10, though he's got a few years, so he'll get there. He's a bit of a work out junky, always on the move -- he loves running, so he has some pretty toned calves, but he works on everything else too, so overall he's pretty fit and put together.
Personality
Michael sees himself as a lone wolf. Though he's always talking to people, making new friends, socializing, he doesn't seem to have a main crowd, a group that he regularly spends time with. When he does, it's very rare and he starts to feel uncomfortable, like he's stuck in a rut and can't get out -- he hates routines and the very idea of being tied down makes him feel incredibly uncomfortable.
Mike is the ultimate sweetheart, but don't ever mistake that as flirting. He can find the beauty in anything and everything and make you feel like the most important person in the world... but he won't be able to fully commit to you. It's hard for him to express his emotions, especially in words. His indecisiveness is usually what causes such a problem, but you'll know how he feels by the way he acts around you. He won't say how he feels because he can't. But, actions speak louder than words, right?
He's the type of guy who avoids his problems most of the time. He doesn't like to face people because he'd rather just live life and enjoy it rather than deal with any unnecessary drama. Besides his commitment issues, Michael would just rather not have to deal with having constant problems in a relationship because he believes if he gets a girlfriend, he'll just screw it up and hurt them, and he can't deal with that sort of guilt.
Background story
There was a point in time where Jeremiah Russel wasn't exactly what you would call the best husband in the world. He met a woman, they got to talking, one thing led to another, and she became pregnant... thus bringing Michael Julian Russel into the world. Not many people knew of this. In fact, hardly anyone knew Michael existed until some time after he turned five, when Jeremiah had committed suicide and his wife was going through his things and had found a copy of the boy's birth certificate in a box, along with a few letters sent back and forth between him and his mother.
Michael didn't meet his half brother, Jonathan, until their father's funeral, when Michael was five and Jonathan was seven... but it wasn't until their pre-teen years that their mothers revealed to them that they were brothers. Since then, Michael always sort of resented Jonathan for having their father around when he himself never had a strong male figure in his life, no one to look up to. He never said it out loud, but it would show in the way he treated him. Michael would always try to sort of be independent of himself and one-up Jonathan in certain ways, but Jon would never really mind or react -- once in a while he'd grow irritated but he would let it go, because they were brothers. Michael tries constantly to stay out of Jon's shadow, due to all the attention that goes to his brother. He hates being compared to him and tries so hard to be different, for no reason in particular, but it's hard to do, what with all their similarities. Michael is stubborn, like Jon, and he can't help but be a nice guy to people because it's in his nature. He is definitely the more cocky brother, and because he is younger, he's much more naive. Their relationship now has changed, more on Jon's side than Michael's. Jon tries hard to keep a good relationship with his brother, trying to be a big brother, looking out for him when he can even if Michael doesn't listen and such. And even though he doesn't show it, Michael's grateful to have Jon in his life.
