Caleb had been really excited when Jodie had mentioned going to the Carnival. So of course he asked her to go to it. What kind of guy wouldn’t? He thought today might be the perfect time to ask her out, to officially be her boyfriend, if she would do the honors of being his girlfriend. He didn’t know how he’d managed to get such an amazing girl like Jodie. She really did seem to perfect to be real. Maybe she’d finally get the chance to meet Chantel, if she wasn’t cranky. The sound of her yelling would say otherwise, and he rolled his eyes before heading downstairs.
He stuck his tongue out at Chantel as she teased him. “I’m not ‘adorable’, I’m manly,” he retorted at his older sibling. She just couldn’t appreciate how well groomed he wanted to be. Jodie deserved nothing but the best, and he was ready to do just that. He thought he older sister was awesome and they never really fought about anything. They jammed hardcore in the car and sand to every song. The Jackson family had been blessed with pretty good vocals, a jam sessions were a must. He glanced down at his watch occasionally and checked his phone for texts.
He couldn’t remember when they agreed to meet, simply saying he’d text her when he arrived. He knew she had cheer practice, so he didn’t want to rush her. Besides, they weren’t arriving when the place just opened so that meant he had plenty of time. Chantel was obviously in no kind of rush to get there either, which he didn’t mind. He didn’t exactly want to awkwardly wait alone so the more time spent on the road the better. His eyes widened as he saw the carnival come into view. It was so sick, and he was excited.
Chantel didn’t spend much time by the car as she started walking off without him. “Hey! Can you meet Jodie before we leave?” he called out to her, but she was already too far away to hear him. Who was she meeting anyway? She hadn’t told him why she wanted to go, but he just shrugged it off, probably girl stuff. It didn’t matter, he was here for Jodie. He walked through the entrance glancing about in amazement. He was really a little kid in a wonderland. He stopped to send a text to Jodie,’ Hey, I’m here at the Carnival (: ‘ he sent the text before turning to look for some food. He was hungry, like always.
