Jodie had been at the gym since about ten thirty and now it was around one a clock. They were finishing up and the rest of the girls were packing up to head out but of course Carly said something to their coach about her not keeping her body straight while she was keeping balance on the base which made her have to have all the attention on her for the sake of the coach. She was cheering up with her elite team because it was a sixteen and up team. Her being only fifteen and cheering up a level was pretty impressive, especially since she had been cheering up a level since she was thirteen. "Jodie, if you don't lock and focus on keeping your core straight you're always going to have trouble trying to keep balance." Carly had her hands on her hips in that know-it-all way as she spoke before looking over at the coach for some back up. Coach Lisa rose her hands up shrugging before looking at Jodie, "Listen to your sister. She's been cheering longer than you. She knows what she's talking about. Plus, your sisters not a flyer so she can pick up on what you're doing wrong as a base." Carly nodded at Jodie who was sitting on the floor drinking a juice box taking in everything that said. Jodie hated when Carly got like this, she always wanted to act like she in charge. She knew Carly was a good cheerleader but sometimes it just got to her head. Some of the other girls with their bases were also in the gym practicing their tosses as an after hours thing. But, Jodie definitely didn't want to do that. Caleb was coming soon! She wanted to go into the actual gym part of the gym with the exercising machines, not be kept here with Carly forcing Caleb to sit and watch! That would be no fun for him and she was pretty sure he'd leave from the boredom of it all. She watched as Carly leaned over smacking Ashton their older brother who was sitting on the mats too texting on the back of the head and pointing to Jodie signaling to get up and toss her up in the air again. Her brother had been cheering since he was younger too only because his mother forced him to, but he definitely didn't cheer for the school only for the competitive team at their gym. "Ow! Okay. You could have just asked me to get up an help. Not smack me." Ashton being one of the only people Jodie trusted to toss her up in the air as a base on the team easily became her assigned base. Jodie groaned loudly rolling over onto her stomach placing her juice box behind her and putting her face in the mat. "I'm tired of getting thrown up over and over again! I'm scared of heights." She was totally lying but she was just getting tired of slipping and falling and scratching up her elbows and knees. Ashton went behind his sister standing over her and picking her up so she was standing now and she turned and smacked him right in the stomach. "You're supposed to be on my side Ass-chin." She had always teased him about the name Ashton sounding like someone was saying ass-chin so she often called him that just to piss him off. (( www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDpPCOmMdAA 1:01-1:20 is the whole stunt she ends up doing in the end. You'll understand what I say about her doing the trick if you watch it! (: )) Coach Lisa just let the siblings argue a bit before stepping in. "Come on. Get on stunt right and you can go off and meet your friend." She blew in her whistle just to get the two to stop bickering before pointing towards the center of the mat for them to do the stunt. Jodie walked over there pushing her brother the whole way before standing a couple feet from him. She started how she was supposed to and as she went to go do the flip right before landing on the base's hand she glanced up hearing the door open completely ruining her focus when she saw Caleb. Her feet slipped right off the tip of her brothers hands making her fall right on her face for about the tenth time today. "You lost focus, lock your body and pay attention Jodie! Do it again! " Carly pulled her sister up before pushing her slightly to back and start over. Jodie went to look at her coach for a little back up but she gave her the same look Carly was giving her. She felt her face getting red not only because she hit against the mat and that was turning it red, but because she just embarrassed backing herself fall in front of caleb which was even worse than just falling! She went back to where she was before Caleb walked in and redid the stunt actually landing it in Ashton and Carly's arms. They set her down on the floor and she turned to the coach to see what she had to say. "Next practice I want to see you do that every time. No falling kiddo. " The coach placed her hand on Jodie's shoulder smiling at her before smacking her on the butt. "I'll see you next practice. Good job today kid!" Jodie smiled at the coach and said thank you before looking at Carly. "I'll call you when i'm ready for you to pick me up." She hugged her siblings goodbye before grabbing her cheer bag off a near by bleacher and grabbing her water bottle out of her bag and walked over to Caleb. As she was walking she opened her bottle taking a drink out of it before putting it back and she looked at Caleb when she reached him and smiled right away. "Hey! Sorry that took a little longer than I said it would. But i'm glad you came! " She wrapping her arms around him giving a hug before pulling away remembering suddenly that she was sweaty . "So the actually gym is upstairs so we have to take the elevator up and then we can work out." She smiled before taking his hand and walking with him to the elevator. Her face was turning red as she realized she was holding his hand the whole time, but she liked it. When she got to the elevator she pressed the button for the second floor of the building waiting for it to open.

Caleb had been slightly worried ever since Jodie asked him to go workout at the gym. But this wasn’t just any gym, no. It was the gym where she cheered. Instinctively Caleb assumed she wanted him to come down and potentially cheer. He thought himself much too manly to do something like cheerleading. Plus he wasn’t exactly the ‘peppy’ type. He was extremely lazy, and surfing was his only source of exercising aside from longboarding in the summer. The only reason he even knew how to use equipment was because Connor occasionally dragged him to the gym where he would half ass a workout and watch the TVs mostly. At least he was cute, right?
He didn’t want to tell his siblings where he was going, fearing they’d joke him for going to a cheer gym. If he even mentioned he was going to the gym Connor would want to tag along, and he couldn’t have that happening. This was his time with Jodie, no need for an awkward third wheel. He took the bus to get to the gym, and the drive had been pretty pleasant. He spent the ride on candy crush till he ran out of lives and played a little Angry Birds until he got bored. His mind kept going to Jodie, and then to the fear of being a male cheerleader.
He’d never tell Jodie, but he thought Cheerleading was stupid. The players never even heard the cheerleaders over their own thoughts or what was happening in the game. It really was an excuse of girls to get into skimpy outfits and yell. It was like being a girl on some drugs, but it was acceptable. Caleb thought Jodie was far too pretty and good to be labeled with the cheerleaders. He didn’t want people to make assumptions about her just because she was a cheerleader. Maybe he could convince her to become a couch potato, and maybe one day she’d be a pro like he was.
He let out a sigh as he hopped off the bus and walked toward the building. It was crawling with females who all looked the same. Plastics was all he could think as he glanced about. Some of them eyed him up and down, but he shrugged them off because he wasn’t interested. He had a girl, or she’d be his officially soon. He was just waiting for a good moment when things felt right. He didn’t want a rush a single detail, because she deserved the best. Hell, he wasn’t even sure why she liked him to begin with, but he wasn’t going to complain. She was just too good to be true, but she made him happy and that’s all he could ask for.
Caleb wondered around a bit, confused by the complex. He wasn’t used to places like this that specialized in a given activity. Cheerleading wasn’t a sport, right? Standing there with pompoms didn’t deserve a varsity letter with it, or so Caleb thought. Jodie had said she was part of a competitive team, whatever that meant. So, a bunch of pompoms competing against each other was what she did? That didn’t even make sense. Female stuff was just too damn complicated. He’d still support her, though he didn’t think he could partake in it himself. He shuddered at the thought.
Finally a faculty member saw that he was lost and pointed him into the right direction. He could hear some bustle through a door and figured that had to be the one. As soon as he opened it, he noticed that Jodie seemed to be doing some solo thing. Why was she running… oh god she was in the air. Caleb stared wide eyed for a moment as she was soon airborne, but not for long. By the look her face and the way she was suddenly falling, that wasn’t how things were supposed to go. She hit the mat with a thud and Caleb winced. He had to stop himself from rushing out on the mat when he saw she was fine. He had to resist the urge to laugh though; because anytime someone fell on their face it was hilarious. He knew it was his girl, but still.
When she did the move again, Caleb didn’t even breathe. He held his breath and didn’t move a muscle as she was air borne again, and this time she seemed to be fine. Caleb nodded his head in approval and went to tell the person next to him that that she was his girl, but his goofy grin disappeared when he realized he was standing around a bunch of parents. Awkward. With a shrug he simply waited for to dismount from whatever move she had done. “Yeah!!!” he cheered loudly, not caring who heard him or saw him clapping like an idiot. Was he not allowed to cheer his girl on? No shame at all, no shame.
He noticed her practice seemed to be done, and gathered his stuff and met her half way, goofy ass smile on his face. He was just so impressed by how brave she was. He couldn’t imagine trusting anyone to catch his with one hand. He trusted his board that was an inanimate object that didn’t make mistakes. “Naw, you’re good,” he said,” but that was totally awesome, dudette! You were like, in the air, so gnarly.” When he got excited his islander dialect came out, not as bad as Connor, but still noticeable. He didn’t even care, not that he ever did. “I don’t know how you can work out again after doing that,” he said following her into the elevator,” I’m tired from just walking up the stairs. Can that count as my work out?” He was smiling down at her as he turned in the elevator. As soon as the doors closed he got an idea. In a quick movement he swept the girl up in his arms bridal style,” I’ll carry you so you can get a little break. Point the way to the gym!”

Jodie laughed, "you get used to it. Honestly, what you saw isn't even half of what we do. Normally for about two hours we do both weight training in the weight room and we go for a mile run. Luckily today we didn't do either of those. Otherwise I would not be breathing right now." She shrieked slightly when she felt herself get liftened up. She giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck resting her head on his shoulder. "Thank you! " When the door opened and he stepped out she thought for a minute before pointing towards a blue door. "Go to the door." She ran her fingers through his hair playing with it slightly as he carried her towards the door. When they got to the door she hopped out of his arms before grabbing her gym back off her shoulder.
She set it down on the floor before bending down and looking through all the zippers until she found her cheer membership card and swiped it over the censor for the door to unlike. "This is the kitchen for the cheerleaders, coaches , and staff members. Only we have keys to it." She opened the door holding it open with one hand before grabbing her bag with the other. Once they walked in she turned on the light so they could see and shut the door behind them. The kitchen was pretty big and it has ovens, and microwaves, a huge fridge and freezor. Anything you could really think of was in here. She set the bag down on the counter before walked over to the fridge pulling out a subway bag. "Unless I want to pass out, I need to eat. "
She set it down on the table before pulling out his sub and placing it in front of a chair. "I got you a foot long chicken bacon and ranch sub on italian. I remembered you said you liked that. " She smiled and pulled out her sub and walked over to a cabinet grabing a plate before grabbing her sub and going over to the toaster oven and heating it up. She leaned against the counter looking at Caleb. He was gorgeous, no deny that. And he was just so sweet and kind to her and she absolutely loved that about him. But hey favorite part about him was he definitely was scared to be herself and she found that to be amazing. When she caught herself staring at him she turned her head away and grabbing her sub back out of the toaster oven.
She put her baffalo chicken sub down on the table and remembered his sub was also toasted so she took it and heated it up for him before walking back to the cabinet putting it on a plate and setting it down for him.

She once she did he set down then remembered drinks and got back up. "I figured since you took me out the least I could do is get lunch for today and feed you. After we eat we can go to the actual gym and work out!" Once she got to the fridge she pulled it open turned to Caleb. "We have soda, juice, Gatorade and water... Pick your choice!" She was talking slow saying what they had to make it my suspenseful but that didn't work so she gave up with a laugh and looked at him.

Caleb couldn’t believe the amount of work she had to do. “See, that’s just too much work for me. Sleeping it much better for the body,” he joked, but in a sense very serious. He found that he quite enjoyed having her in his arms like this, supporting her. It made him feel manly, but it sure did help that she was pretty darn light. He didn’t even mind her playing with his hair, something he took serious care of. His hair was probably one of his most attractive attributes, not that it helped him attract females. But that didn’t matter now, because in his arms was the most beautiful girl in the world.
He could only blink in surprise when she hoped out of his arms and to a door. “The kitchen?” he asked puzzled,” we’re going to eat?!” He might’ve been a little too happy about that fact, but he really was hungry. He’d spent so much time that morning getting ready to work out that he didn’t have a chance to eat anything besides a donut. The kitchen looked great and it amazed him that something like this was even in a cheer building. “Well, if I don’t eat anything I’m going to die,” he said dramatically. He thought females didn’t believe in eating or something like that. It’s basically what dieting was.
When she pulled out a subway bag he couldn’t be happier. “Jodie, you’re the most perfect person ever,” he said walking up to the counter;” I can’t believe you remember me saying that!” He leaned over her shoulder looking at the options. “No milkshakes? I guess I’ll settle on a coke,” he joked.
