About My Character:
Full Name: Trista Edith Kline
Age: 17; January 24, 1996
Gender: Female
Grade: Junior
Sports/Clubs: n/a
Appearance: Trista is quite small and frail in appearance. She stands at about 5'6" and a light 114 lb. She has almost no muscle mass, because she doesn't work out. She's very thin, but not because she has an eating disorder, it's just her build. She's not athletic and was always the last person chosen for any sports team during gym class. She tends to have an unemotional face with sad green eyes. Her eye brows are dark and defined bringing attention to her eyes. Trista doesn't exactly have a set fashion style. She doesn't usually wear very flashy articles of clothing that draws any unwanted attention to herself. She likes simple things, not really caring for name brands.
Personality: Trista is a naturally quiet person. She doesn't like big crowds because they make her very uncomfortable. She usually won't smile back even if you smile at her first. She'll nod her head at you if you try to greet her in the hallway. It's not that she lacks social skills, it's just that she'd rather not interact at all. She likes her own company because she'll never get hurt. She's a sweet girl though with the best intentions, even if she doesn't start conversations.
She can't stand up for herself. In the face of bullies, she'll simply take it. You'll never see what she's feeling inside except for in her eyes. They always appear sad and lonely, as if searching for something. What people don't realize is that she has a beautiful mind, and she thinks about the 'what ifs' all the time. If you do happen to get to know her, she opens up to a select few. She doesn't trust many, so if you gain her trust you're basically the most important person in the world. She doesn't need friends to be happy, not that she usually is. Her demeanor is normally sad and lonely without much eye contact. She feels like she doesn't exist, and people just don't understand her.
Background: Trista grew up in a little city in New York with seemingly loving parents. The doctors believed there was a 70% chance that she was going to be born with defects with mobility and possible blindness. That wasn't the case with the premature baby who appeared to be healthy to the naked eye. Trista was always a quiet child who didn't make much noise and wasn't much of a crier. She was easy to satisfy and didn't mind being left alone. She liked to draw and always had various sketch books and coloring pages.
Trista's father was an angry man though, and had a dependency on alcohol to get through the day. Trista's mother was usually the victim of the abuse, but after a nasty fight that left Trista in the hospital, her mother filed for a divorce that shattered the family. Trista entered kindergarten with a single mother, and without a father. She was young though, and her mother thought she would heal. After the ordeal she slowly started to sink into herself. Her human interactions were less and less, and she was soon off to therapy. Trista eventually got better, and they found that she had a speech impediment that had caused her to become less social.
After years of classes and speech therapy, she was fine. Trista was still a quiet girl who kept to herself, but she could interact normally with her mother, which was really the only important thing to the family. In her home town, Trista fell in love, or so she thought. The relationship was very unhealthy. The fights were very one sided and always from her boyfriend. He didn't abuse her physically, but emotionally and mentally he was destructive. It went on for years, from middle school til high school. From afar, the couple looked picture perfect, and many thought the two were going to get married. But the relationship wasn't meant to last. After one last fight they left Trista psychically injured, her mother sent her to Somerset to get away.
Trista started her sophomore year at Somerset. She didn't really fit in anywhere, but she didn't stand out either. She kept to herself and rarely left her dorm room. She's not scared of guys though and doesn't flinch away from them in fear. She's fine, just a little damaged. She'd not very trusting, but knows she'll be okay. She's in the middle of her junior year without any trouble so far.
