The very last thing that Alison wanted to be doing was holding auditions for High School Musical.. How did that even get picked? What happened to using classics like Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet? Had those been deemed unacceptable by the student body? She personally thought those would be more fulfilling than this garbage but whatever. It wasn't exactly her choice despite the fact that she was going to have to direct this whole thing. That was part of why she wasn't exactly rushing to get there... She'd decided to stop and pick up a dozen cupcakes on her way as a little surprise but the line at the bakery had been so intense that she probably should have just ditched that plan and headed back to school. Could she lose her job for this? She and Dino were going to be welcoming two very expensive little poop machines into the world.
She wasn't exactly scared for that step in their lives though. They hadn't been together long but she already knew that he made her happier than she'd ever been in her whole entire life and these babies were going to be welcomed into a family that would accept them despite being unplanned. "Mrs. Hampton! Do you need help with those cupcakes?" Oh Elizabeth Hanson... That little kiss up. "Shouldn't you be waiting for me in class?" "I came out here to look for you." She couldn't exactly argue that because it could be true so she just handed her the box of cupcakes and the pair speed walked the rest of the way to the drama room. "Hello students!"
Elizabeth set the box down on the desk before taking a seat in one of the fold up chairs. "Okay students! I brought cupcakes for those of you who succeed in your auditions and there's candy in the drawer for those of you who do not. Um.. Let's begin with taking attendance of who all is here. Leonardo Wilkes?" She didn't see him so she knew for a fact that Ingrid wasn't going to be there either. Those two were honestly together so often that she was surprised that they hadn't spawned yet.

To be in the High School Musical play, Aubrey first had check in with his boss at work to make sure he could attend rehearsals and be present for anything concerning his responsibilities. When he got the literal thumbs up from the store manager, Aubrey quickly signed up for the auditions. He had gotten Leo to sign up too but he wasn't here at the moment. It made him frown as he helplessly looked around as if he had been abandoned and he really was. Mark didn't really feel like auditioning, either but he couldn't act anyways. This made Aubrey miss the good old days when the three of them would (make fools out of themselves) have fun at auditions and would laugh it off if they didn't get the part and if they did then they would rejoice. Where were those days!? Apparently gone.
"Er, Mrs. Hampton," Aubrey began meekly, "Leo ain't here." he shook his head before his demeanor changed and there was a bright smile on his face. His eyes glistened with excitement as he realized that he was next on the list. "Oh I think I'm next on the list." he nodded looking positive. Aubrey scratched the back of his head before saying, "I'm auditioning for the role of Troy." he tried his best to sound professional and so far he was doing a pretty darn good job. His accent was something that was going to have to go before anything. Troy didn't exactly speak in a straight from the Bayou accent, did he?
He cleared his throat and smiled weakly before taking a deep breath and getting into character. Aubrey had never in his played legit basketball before, he only half dribbled the ball then gave up.
"Guys, if you don't know that I'll put 110% of my guts into that game, then you don't know me.
I'll tell you what I thought. I thought that you're my friends. Win together, lose together, teammates.
Man, I'm for the team! I've always been for the team. She's just someone I met."
Aubrey acted the part of the script he had memorize that he felt was out of his own persona and more tough, and dishonest.
" All right the singing thing is nothing. Probably just a way to keep my nerves down. I don't know. It means nothing to me. You're my guys and this is our team. Gabriella is not important. I'll forget about her, I'll forget the audition and we'll go out and get that championship. Everyone happy now?"
He referred himself to Alison, who of course would be the one to judge him and decide whether or not he got the part or if he had to go home. Aubrey was really hoping to finally get a lead role on school production because aside from football, he really had a passion for acting. He then switched gears and thought of the verse he would sing. Now, Aubrey wasn't Frank Sinatra but he did sing pretty darn good. He had the voice of an R&B artist due to his accent. He sang a verse from Get'cha Head In The Game.
Why am I feeling so wrong? My head's in the game But my heart's in the song She makes this feel so right Should I go for this? Ya better shake it
Should I take the ball down the middle then I shoot the shot? I move fast when I dribble, watch out for the block I lose focus when I think of her name I gotta get get my head in the game
Does she think about me? Does she feel the same way? Should I shoot for a 3? Gotta stay in game play I think I'm going insane Can't get her out of my brain
When he finished, he took a deep breath and smiled brightly.

Shit, Simmons came after Sawyer, didn't it? Cassidy, normally so calm and collected, actually felt a bit of nerves stirring up inside of her when it came to be her time to audition. She'd been in a play or two before as a child, playing Cindy Lou in her elementary school's production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and she continued on participating in choir years after that, but she hadn't gotten up and performed in front of anybody for quite some time and she was afraid she might be rusty. What if she messed up? The only thing keeping her at comfort was the fact that the character she was auditioning for was a pretty shy, timid girl, anyway -- so her nervousness would only be of assistance, right? Sure.
Once Aubrey was finished with his audition, she took her turn in the front, adjusting her posture so that she stood up straighter and plastering a smile on her face as she focused her eyes on Alison, "My name is Cassidy Simmons and I'll be auditioning for the role of Gabriella Montez," Cassidy made it a point not to let any of her nerves shine out through her voice. She always did quite well at masking her actual emotions, something that came in quite handy in acting.
Looking down for a moment, taking a second to get into character, she looked back up at Alison, remembering the lines that she had read over from the script during the past week and reciting them just as she had to herself in the mirror in the days before,
"Do you remember in kindergarten, how you'd meet a kid and know nothing about them, then ten seconds later you're playing like you're best friends because you didn't have to be anything but yourself?
Singing with you felt like that.
So, you really wanna do the callbacks?
You're a cool guy, Troy, but not for the reasons your friends think. And thanks for showing me your top-secret hiding place. Like kindergarten."
She let out a breath as she transitioned to another scene, "And here it is: I know what it's like to carry a load with your friends. I get it. You've got your boys, Troy, it's okay. So, we're good." She tried to remember how it had felt, that day Jon had tried laying it down gently to her about not wanting to go to Homecoming with her back in sophomore year, how she tried to sugarcoat her disappointment by looking at the bright side. That's what Gabriella was doing in this scene, right?
"I don't wanna do the callbacks either. I mean who are we trying to kid? You've got your team," she placed a hand to her heart and shrugged, "and now I've got mine. I'll do the scholastic decathlon and you win the championships. It's where we belong... go Wildcats."
Now time for the singing portion. Cassidy's stomach lurked, had she drunk enough water? Was her throat too dry? Did she warm up enough before she arrived? She looked up to Alison, tried to smile, clasping her hands together before taking another breath, nodding along to the beat playing inside of her head, as she knew they weren't provided with tracks or accompaniment for this part, and began to sing a few verses from When There Was Me and You.
"I swore I knew the melody that I heard you singin' And when you smiled, you made me feel like I could sing along But then you went and changed the words Now my heart is empty I'm only left with used to be's, and once upon a song
Now I know you're not a fairy tale And dreams were meant for sleepin' And wishes on a star just don't come true 'Cause now, even I can tell That I confused my feelings with the truth Because I liked the view When there was me and you I can't believe that I could be so blind It's like you were floating while I was fallin' And I didn't mind
Because I liked the view I thought you felt it, too When there was me and you..."
Once she finished with the last note, she looked up again, smiling, slightly unsure of what to do, so she bowed her head in signal of completion.
