(http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=90069231) She had almost forgot that it was snowing when she was getting dressed that morning, but remembered and ended up deciding on a sweater dress and some leggings. So she wasn’t terribly cold, but it was cold out. Lola really didn’t like the snow because she felt like it trapped out inside, and it was all grey and gloomy. She liked the spring better when there was flowers and the sun was out. She didn’t really care for the snow but when Nick asked her to go get lunch she said that she would love that. The two had been friends for a while, and he was a really great friend.
She picked Panera because it was always one of her favorites back home, and she liked the smell of bread it was a weird thing but she liked it. She really liked the restaurant so she picked that when given the choice of where to go for lunch.

{ www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=90068371 } 'I have seriously never been here before'. Nick noted as he paused outside the restaurant and started up at the sign, squinting a little in he bright sunshine. Unfortunately it wasn't the warm kind of sunshine, just the bright winter kind. As quickly as the sun had come out it was back behind a cloud making the day gloomy all over again. The sign suggested that the place sold bread ... Nick wondered if they sold other food or whether today he would be feasting upon a meal of bread ... Seeing as it was pretty cold, and he'd forgotten to put a coat on Nick ushered Lola inside and they were soon seated in a secluded corner near the window. It was a pretty good seat, but the place was basically deserted so that was probably why. 'Please tell me this place does more than just bread', Nick said as he picked up a menu and flipped it over. Despite Lola rarely ever speaking he always talked to her, it would seem impolite not to. While he was still learning sign language it was also a lot quicker just to speak, his hands still weren't fluent enough in movement to communicate properly. Besides, it wasn't like Lola couldn't hear him.

She nodded when he asked if they had more than bread. She didn’t think that a place that just sold bread would be that great. She also laughed at his question, not to be mean, the fact that he had never been there before was a bit surprising, but a lot of people hadn’t. Sometimes she didn’t know which was a better way of communicating with him, to write it out on paper, despite the fact that he was learning sign language to communicate with her, which was a really nice thing for him to do, she didn’t know if he would understand her signs sometimes, so she wrote things out when she was trying to communicate with him.
She was always carrying around a note pad and a pen of course so that she could talk to people, it was a weird way to communicate but since she didn’t really speak much it was easier then trying to use hand gestures.
they have…
She started to write something, for him and ended up drawing a picture of soup with steam coming out of it, despite the fact that it would have been easier to just write the word soup, and she wasn’t the best artist ever. Soup was a good choice for cold weather right? Soup was always a good choice.

'They have ... A stinky turtle hiding from the police by laying on it's back and tucking in its legs?', Nick joked, picking up the piece of paper and turning it around in his hands, cocking his head and pretending to look puzzled. Putting the paper down he flicked through the pages of the menu, 'Oooh! Panini's', Nick exclaimed excitedly, poking at the page.
'I love that word ... Panini', Nick mused, 'Lola, can you say panini?', he joked and then shook his head realizing that probably wasn't funny. Sometime's Nick forgot that people other than him had feelings, 'I'm kidding', he told her.

She laughed at his description of his drawing. Yes that was exactly what the picture was supposed to be. She didn’t really find his joke all that funny, because despite the fact that she could say it, she didn’t want to, but she didn’t really mind it because she got asked things like that all the time. She nodded to answer his question though, she could say whatever she wanted but she didn’t want to.
don’t b srry
The fact that she wrote in text language made it faster to write something down, and sometimes people got impatient with her when she writing things, because it would have been much quicker for her to just say it.

& So I shall not be sorry.
Nick had pulled out a pen from his own pocket and slid the notepad across the table. Being neat was never really his thing, and his handwriting was a mess. Not to mention he wasn't sure if what he'd written made much sense. Nick couldn't imagine going a day without speaking, he sort of admired Lola's integrity. Then again he really wanted to hear her speak some more. If the course of their friendship he'd heard maybe two or three words.
Silly question, but, do you talk to yourself when no one else is there?
Nick scrawled on the paper before sliding it back to Lola.

no, I don’t
Maybe that was only a weird question to her. She didn’t know of many people that did talk to themselves when no one was there.
Do you?
She slid the paper back across to him. Was that something people normally did? Well it would makes some sense she assumed. She never really did, even to herself, because what was the point in talking to yourself? She didn’t see the need to talk to herself or to most people because she was perfectly capable of communicating with them otherwise.

'Yeah, course, I talk non-stop', Nick replied, not bothering to write it down this time, 'Otherwise I'd get lonely', he joked with a shrug. Most of the time he actually sung to himself but he thought that was a little more embarrassing to admit to. If Lola didn't talk, she didn't sing either. The thought suddenly dawned on Nick, that must be awful....
Before he had chance to talk about that there was a waiter at their table, Nick ordered what he wanted and glanced over at Lola, wondering how she would order.

Oh yeah that was true he did talk all the time, which was cool with her it kind of filled the silence, since she didn’t . It was weird that they would be friends, but she really liked their friendship. So she didn’t mind it, and opposites attracted right? She just pointed at the items she wanted on the menu, because that was the easiest way to do it. People always gave her a weird look when she did that, but it was never really that difficult. Even when they asked her to clarify she could just write it down. She received weird looks from the staff sometimes, but she could deal with it.
that’s what friends are for, to keep you from getting lonely though
Or at least that was what she thought. It was easy to be alone all the time but when you had friends around it was so much more fun.

'There aren't always friends around though', Nick replied with a sad lilt to his voice, which he quickly tried to cover up with a huge grin, 'But the friends in my mind are', he quipped, winking at Lola. With that he grabbed a napkin and began folding it in to a swan, something he'd learnt to do many years ago for no apparent reason. It wasn't a very impressive skill, but it kept his hands busy.
