Name: Leonardo Jaime Wilkes. Michelangelo and Veronique got a kick out of naming their child after not Leonardo DaVinci but Leonardo the Ninja Turtle. Jaime was the name of Michelangelo's best comrade who was killed during a confrontation in Italy. He had been murdered a week before his children, Leonardo and Riley, both fraternal twins were born. The surname Wilkes is not the actual last name of the family. In the late 1800's, Giuseppe Cardelli sent his wife and children to the United States because he was the leader of the mafia which took part power during the facist regime. However, his wanted the most thing that he cared for to be safe and sound. Therefore, he gave their family a new name where his record in the Americas did not read Giuseppe Cardelli but Joseph Wilkes.
Background Story on the Cardelli's
Sadly, Giuseppe was killed by the allied powers during the First World War. Although, the power of the mafia didn't end there. Giuseppe's son, Michelangelo's great-grandfather, soon reclaimed his power and brought back the mafia into underground force. A son was always a request considering that at the time only men controlled such affairs. As time passed, Michelangelo was brought into a world of luxury, with a different last name of which he found out wasn't his at the age of twenty. It was a shock to both his future wife, Veronique Rocky Pierre and himself. Despite that small problem, the two tied the knot. Michelangelo lives incognito in Italy because he has difficulty with leading from the USA — and his wife.
Birthday/Age: November 20th, Sixteen years old.
Clubs/Activities: Football (because Aubrey and Mark gave him the puppy eyes, he didn't really want to join.)
Personality: Most folks would describe Leo as distant and sarcastic. He is easily irritated by ridiculousness and cheapness. A typical spoiled brat. It's not very easy to get Leonardo warm up to strangers but he will never be rude. He was taught manners—ironically—by his mother. She wanted to mold this ideal son (and daughter when it came to Riley). A poised and elegant young man. Which Rocky succeeded in creating. Word on the street is that Leo has impeccable taste when it comes to anything. Although don't be so afraid of this uptight guy, he has a merciful sweet side. Usually his friends and family have only seen this side. Leo is very dedicated to what is important to him. He's extremely family oriented and will do anything for them. Usually when there is trouble going on in his house, he's a little quiet around his friends. He then realizes that as long as his father continues being leader of the mafia, he'll have to get used to it. Leo's biggest fear is to disappoint his family especially and his father, heaven forbid, lost his life because that would mean he'd have to take he and Riley would have to leave to Italy and take their father's place.
Background: Leonardo and his sister, Riley were born Brooklyn, New York. Leo was born two minutes after his sister meaning he's the "baby" of the family. His sister makes fun of him for that on the daily. As a child, Leonardo was very calm. He offered people anything he had, be it animal crackers or a juice box and that was how he met Aubrey Sawyer. They were like peanut butter and jelly. Other kids tended to make fun of their accents because Leo's was strong Brooklyn poetry and Aubrey spoke in a lighthearted Cajun accent coming from New Orleans. Leonardo stood up for his new found friend which caused him to get into fights at school. Fights made Michelangelo smile. He was proud of his son for being a fighter and not letting dumb kids punk he and his friend around. At the end of second grade, Leonardo, Riley and Aubrey found another edition to their group of friends — Mark Daniels. Short, pudgy but full of life. They liked his style and the fact that people made fun of him for being chubby made Leo roll his eyes. They're just mad because they're too poor to afford food. and he stuck his tongue at them, too.
Leonardo also met two other girls by the name of Ingrid Sinclair and Caroline Bouvier. One of them would prove to be the reason of his existence.
At the age of twelve, Leonardo overheard his parents arguing. Rocky was throwing stuff as she usually knew how and Michelangelo was dodging them like he, too, knew how. At the time Leonardo had no idea of where all his wealth came from or — what his real last name was. Until Rocky, furious with her husband, spilled the truth. Leo was in shock, he knew about drug cartels and how evil their doing were. He couldn't possibly imagine his father or family getting their hands dirty on a thing like that!
Aside from that fact that his parents rarely paid attention to what he did, where he went and the awards he got at school. They only cared about themselves and their feelings but what about his? Riley took this on a lighter note by distracting herself with basketball but Leo lived for his family but his family sure didn't care — or at least that's what it seemed.
So that was the reason why while they were living Italy for five years they were always hidden in his grandfather's mansion? That was why whenever he and Riley wanted to explore their request was denied? It wasn't a vacation trip, it was a goddamn business trip!
Curse my parents, curse everything... Leonardo became awfully distant from his friends when he returned to school that summer he found out the truth. He became something he feared in becoming. A druggie at the age of thirteen because that's exactly what his family wanted a drug lord for a son. Riley couldn't intervene because Leo would shut her off. His addictions caused him to do crazy things, like putting his life in danger.
While being high of off pot and other substances, Leonardo felt alone. He was in hysteria, clasped in a vertigo where the only way out were pre scripted medications in the cabinet. He took a high number of pills and swallowed them dry. Despite the excruciating pain, Leo still laid alive on his bedroom floor. His cell phone began ringing and he used all his might to pick it up. It was Ingrid. All he could muster doing was agonize in pain.
When Ingrid arrived to the Wilkes estate, Leo was unconscious but still alive. All he could remember was riding in the ambulance and seeing Ingrid, worried and holding onto his hand before passing out again due to the sedatives the paramedics were putting on him.
Once Leonardo woke up, he saw that his parents were standing beside his hospital bed. Rocky was crying in remorse and Michelangelo had tears on his eyes. He only felt his strong embrace while he muttered, "My boy, my boy is alive." Which caused Leonardo to burst into tears and he instantly forgave his parents despite that his father had apologized seconds after.
Leonardo asked for Ingrid. He remembered vaguely that she had been riding with him in the ambulance. Rocky answered him with a warm smile and informed him that she had been the one who had called the ambulance when she found him lying on the floor. He and Ingrid weren't really the best of friends but she was there, despite that he made fun of her goody-two-shoes personality. Although, he really wanted to get to know her more. She was after all his hero.
After being released from the hospital, Leonardo got in contact with his heroine and they started becoming closer. Despite that he was still fighting with the aftermath of his addictions, she actually wanted to be friends with him. So the blondie wasn't delicate but Leo tried to tone it down with the nicknames.
By the summer before freshman year, Leonardo had fallen in love with Ingrid. He realized this when instead of saying goodbye to her on the phone, he almost said I love you. It wasn't an infatuation because going all the way with her wasn't on his mind. He declared himself to her by buying her chocolates, a heart pendant from Tiffany's — and a family sized bag of Cheetos. Leonardo arrived at Ingrid's door and asked to speak to her parents, who he was already familiar with. He asked them if they would allow him to be their daughter's boyfriend and somehow, they agreed. It must have been the bag of Cheetos.
to be continued, maybe
