'I'll have crab cakes please', Dexxie told the waitress, closing her menu and handing it over. When the waitress was out of earshot Dexxie looked over at Rory, 'The lady did go first', she joked and stuck her tongue out of him. It was a pretty lame joke, well ... Not so much a joke, Dexxie felt a little silly for saying it actually.
'Yeah, so ...', Dexxie looked around the restaurant, it was filled with couples, there were no families, no groups of friends .... Just couples. Dexxie sighed and began to wonder if her boys were okay with the nanny.

Rory opened his mouth when she said the 'lady did go first' and made an overdramatic gasp. "I am not a lady!" he said, putting his fist on the table. "I am a WOMAN. A strong and independent woman!" Chuckling, Rory ran his fingers through the front of his hair and looked down at his water. Running a finger over its rim, he kept a smile on his face as he played the joke over in his head. It wasn't even a good joke, and it was so cliche. But it made him smile.
"What's on your mind?" he asked a bit later, looking up to find Dexxie seeming a bit out of sorts again like she had been back in the room. When he thought he knew, he reached his hand across the table and set it gently atop hers. "Hey, they're fine," he cooed, ending with a closed-mouth smile and a reassuring wink. Wouldn't it be awkward if she wasn't even thinking about the boys.

'I know they will be, it's just weird, you know?', Dexxie replied, a little annoyed that it was so obvious that she was upset. Usually she was so good at hiding her emotions ... Having babies had made her soft. When she realized what she'd said Dexxie laughed and shook her head, 'I guess you don't know, it's not like you have kids...', Dexxie trailed off, 'It's just weird, I don't know if I like it or not', she added glancing at their hands, once again touching on the table. Was this normal?

Rory took his hand back and placed it in his lap when she looked down. He felt like he'd crossed a line.. if she hadn't minded it, she wouldn't have looked down, right? Maybe not. He was over thinking. That's when his phone buzzed. It startled him, making him jump, but he didn't want to be rude so he left it in his pocket. It was probably just Kyle anyway. That boy was like a puppy. He couldn't stand being without Rory for more than an hour.
"No I get it though," Rory said, trying to sound understanding even though she was right because he didn't have kids. But he had a feeling what it might be like to be without them. It was probably kind of horrible, actually.
When his phone buzzed again, Rory quickly snatched it from his pocket and put it on silent. Slipping it back into place, he looked up at Dexxie and smiled. "Sorry. My child won't stop texting me," he said with a giggle. "Do you think you can do this? Or do you wanna just make this dinner to go?" he asked suddenly, his tone a bit softer, a little sad. He didn't want to make it to go, but if she did.. then he wouldn't mind.
Or at least, he'd do his best to make it seem like he didn't mind. He wasn't about to be that heartless.

'No, I'm fine, honestly', Dexxie replied, forcing a smile, 'They'll be fine, I want to eat here, it's fine'.
-
And eat they did! The food was amazing as everything was turning out to be. Maybe Canada was just an amazing place. Who knew? During dinner it had started snowing again so when the pair stepped out in to the cold evening air the whole placed looked like some kind of magical winter wonderland. Dexxie, had managed to convince the waitress that she was twenty-one so she'd had a couple of wine, and that paired with delicious food had left her in a very good mood.
'I can't believe this place, I seriously can't, like, I cannot!', Dexxie exclaimed throwing her hands up in the air and twirling around, sending the bottom of her dress swishing around her legs in true 'movie style' fashion. The thought of her boys being with a Nanny was almost completely out of her mind now, and it was easy to tell, her expression was no longer forced at all.

"It really is somethin'," Rory agreed, his hands in his pockets and his nose to the sky as he squinted at the snowflakes. He didn't mind cold weather at all. In fact, he preferred it to warm weather. Rory would much rather pile on sweater after sweater rather than bake in the sun while trying to peel your skin off. And anyway, for some reason, he didn't get that cold in the first place. I mean, here he stood in a short sleeved shirt with just a zip up hoodie over it. And he was more than okay.
Dropping his head from the sky, Rory turned just a bit to look at Dexxie. This was the happiest he'd seen her since they got there. She was literally twirling with excitement and that made him smile. It was nice to see her like her old self. Saying that made him feel kind of bad; I mean saying that the twins might've changed her. But he didn't mean to think of it in a bad way. He was just glad to see she hadn't lost that spark.
"See now if you'd changed," Rory started, pointing a finger at her dress, "because it was 'too fancy', you wouldn't be able to do this!" It was kind of an obvious statement. And a dumb one at that. "I wish I'd dressed fancier. Maybe I could be twirling with you," he added in attempt to make what he'd said seem a bit more relevant. It didn't really work though. Which made him smile to himself out of embarrassment.

'You can twirl with me!', Dexxie replied, not really getting that Rory meant if he had a dress on. Things were easy to overlook when you'd had two glasses of wine. Without any hesitation Dexxie pulled Rory's hands from his pockets and held on to them, trying to get him to twirl with her. It probably wasn't the best idea, what with the snow and everything.

Rory automatically blushed the minute Dexxie even reached for his hands. She hadn't even touched him yet, and he could feel his face getting hot, which made him smile. And now, his hands in hers, Rory couldn't help but giggle. "No no, I don't.. no!" He wasn't at all sure what he was saying. There was no reason to say no other than the fact that he didn't have a dress on and it wouldn't look as cool if he tried to spin with her. But that was irrelevant. He wanted to 'spin' with her like this. Why had he said no.. stupid.
She didn't seem phased by it, though, and only kept spinning. Moving a bit closer, Rory smiled down at her, laughing through his open smile and squinting because it was so broad. I mean he kind of always squinted anyway... small eyes. But this was a truly happy expression and though he was mad blushing, he felt right. Well, until they slipped.
If you'd slowed things down, it might've been the most awkward thing to watch. Rory went first, losing the leg he'd been putting his weight on and watching the other fly out just seconds after. Falling back first into a snow pile and connected to Dexxie by their intertwined fingers, Rory accidentally pulled her down with him. It had been dramatic and possibly dangerous, but she seemed fine after landing directly on top of him. Rory, on the other hand, had received a knee to the stomach.
"Holy shit, are you okay?" Rory asked, completely disregarding the fact that she was laying on him. "Are you hurt? Are you-" Ope, there it was. That's when he realized that Adele Dexton was laying on his chest.
And here came the blush again.
