Name: Jasper "Jas" Henley
Ladies, you can call me Jas. Actually, anyone can call me Jas. But it's not Jazz - it's Jas. Exactly how you pronounce Jasper, just without the "per" part of it.
Age/DOB: Jas is sixteen, and will be turning seventeen on May 1st.
Clubs/Sports: Jas has been kicked off of every sports team he has ever been on. He was booted from baseball in third grade, basketball in sixth, and most recently, he was asked to quit his high school's chess team. It's not to say that he was ever bad at what he was doing - it was just that he likes to cheat. He was constantly getting called out on it. He's applied to be apart of the Somerset Chess Club, though he most likely won't last the season. People just don't appreciate good trickery anymore...
Appearance:
Jas has never had the "conventional" look of the typical American male teen. On more than one occasional, he's been asked if he were of the Jewish religion. That's probably got something to do with the "Jew-fro" he had going on for quite a few years. He can't help having a curly bushel of hair upon his head! Now a days, he's learned his lesson, and started straightening it. It looks a lot better with the shaggy, slick and choppy kind of look. When it comes to his appearance, Jas doesn't do much to look good. His face typically has a day or two worth of stubble, and his hair is often messy as all get out. When it comes to clothing, he at least tries to look less rumpled. He sticks to nicer styles of clothing - jeans, button down shirts, vests, etc. Over all, he's not a bad looking guy. He's a little on the skinny side, but he's tall - five foot, nine - to make up for it.
If you really need to know more, he looks like this:
Personality:
Stubborn: Jas has a terrible habit of never giving up. Now, you might think that's a sort of good thing. I don't mean "never giving up" like in Titanic when Rose tells Jack to "never let go." How can I describe this... Basically, Jas is going to win, no matter what. It doesn't matter if you're right, Jas always has to be the one who comes out successful in an argument. When he sets his mind to something, he is not going to budge. Don't even try to disagree, just sigh and shake your head and get over it, because Jas has never been good at losing anything. That should probably be a warning to any girl who's interested in him - he doesn't like to see you go unless it's on his terms.
Arrogant: Jas has always been somewhat entitled. He's had money all of his life, and his stubborn side always got him whatever he wanted. He know's he's a smart guy, and he'll flaunt his intelligence any chance that he can get. He doesn't think of it as bragging - he likes to call it "making people aware of my importance." You see what I mean when I call him arrogant.
Controlling: Because he was always allowed to be stubborn and get his way, Jas is unaccustomed to anyone who doesn't listen to him. It's almost like he has an obsessive compulsive disorder. He can't help wanting to be in charge. He's definitely a natural born leader, but he's pushy about it. Whenever he has the chance to organize an event, he goes all out to make sure everyone is doing what he says, when he says, and how he tells them to do it. He's been called a "control freak" on multiple occasions, and though he denies being one, it's true that he's got all the traits.
Logical: Jas always thinks like a computer. Sure, he's got emotions - plenty of them - but he prefers to analyze instead of feel. It's just a habit he got into, like every other one of his traits. He stopped feeling and started thinking. It takes him a minute to make decisions, because he runs through every possible result of every action he takes.
Cunning: Jas learned to be a trickster from his grandfather. Ever since he was a kid, he was figuring out how to get his way. He has a great mind to manipulate people with. He's always got something up his sleeve, really. It's gotten him into quite a bit of trouble with the law, multiple times, but it's never stopped him. He thinks of strangers as just empty people for him to use. Take a wallet, clean out a bank account, convince a girl he's never met to sleep with him - it was always one thing or another with Jas. If you want my advice, I'd tell you... don't trust him.
History:
"Ladies and gentlemen, what is the first rule to magic?" Jas grinned, blue-green eyes flashing with excitement. This was going to be a good night, he could feel it. The crowd loved him. There were pretty girls flocking about him, oohing and ahhing at this or that. Most of the patrons were intoxicated or too tired to function after a long night on the Las Vegas Strip. The tips were flying in out of no where, five and ten dollar bills dropping into the empty grocery bag Jasper had set up on the corner right in front of him. All he could see in the bag was a sizable stack of green, enough to make him hyper with excitement. Yes, this was definitely a great crowd to be entertaining.
He listened to a few ideas that were shouted out and shook his head. "No, ma'am," he replied, catching the eye of a young woman who had blurted out something about having a good deck of cards. "But nice..." his eyes traveled down the graceful slope of her neck, towards her low cut shirt. Ah, a wonderful group of customers tonight. "Answer, nice answer." He gulped, shaking his gaze away from her well endowed chest. She grinned, and he had to follow suit - that was definitely a lady who'd want to talk to him after the show.
"First rule of magic is to always be the smartest one in the room." He admitted, and the audience laughed. He cracked a bigger smile, knowing they didn't really think much about the comment. However, it was true. One thing his teacher had always told him was that audience are stupid. They'll believe whatever you show them, because they don't think too much about anything more than the magic of entertainment.
"Now, my lovely ladies," his eyes caught the gaze of the pretty woman standing in front of him. God, he loved brunettes. "And gentlemen, too, I suppose," he got a small laugh, mainly from the females near him. "This is going to be my last trick," he prepared by pulling a smaller deck of cards from his pocket, shuffling them. The moved from hand to hand with a certain fluidity that was always seen as magic by the crowd. Though they groaned to hear that he was going to be done soon, he had their attention with every quick slide of his cards. "You should know that the closer you look, the less you see," he informed them, gearing up for his next trick. "For my final bit of performance, I want you to see. And at the same time, don't see. Because the closer you look, the less you see." With that last bit of advice, he threw a wink towards the pretty girl in the front row, and pulled off one of his greatest tricks.
Christian Henley was known for being a great magician for a great part of his life. When he eventually married his pretty, young assistant and settled down, he had always expected his son, Daniel, to follow suit and become interested in the world of magic. When Dan decided to become a worker of international affairs at a high class bank, his father should have been proud of the important work he was doing. However, he was grouchy and unimpressed by his son. When Jasper Henley was born, Daniel promised he would never have to deal with his grandfather's criticism and belittling. However, that was never a problem - as much as Daniel tried to tell Jas that magic was a worthless hobby, Jasper was hooked from the start. It was in his genes, of course.
As Jasper grew older, he spent more time with his grandfather, learning the tricks of the trade. Eventually, the student passed the master. What he couldn't learn from Christian, he found online or from watching other magic acts to try and crack their codes. However, it became more than magic after a while. It was straight up trickery. He'd manage to take multiple people's wallets during just one show on the corner of a busy street, and no one would notice until he had already left and the "magic" was over. He was good at what he did, but he was also cocky about it - that's how he got caught.
At that point in time, he had been foolish. He knew that he would get caught, and he simply didn't care. He was drunk, and sloppy, and high off of his ass. He pulled the guy's wallet without him noticing, but instead of just walking away with it, he flaunted it. He was taken into custody and let off with a warning. If his father hadn't been working international affairs, cooperating with the government every day, he would have been sent to juvie. Instead, he was sent to board at Somerset, and has been here since his sophomore year.
Warning:
For the record... he did this when he was arrested:
They were not pleased...

Warning:
- Jas has connections... everywhere. Friends and acquaintances that make things happen for him, you see what I'm saying?
- If you piss him off, he'll get you back, because he believes in being the delivery of karma.
- He's not a virgin, and he typically only cares about certain people. Don't expect love, sweetheart. If you say the three words first, chances are, he won't say them back.
- He doesn't trust anyone, and you probably shouldn't trust him. He's really good at throwing cards - they're his weapon of choice.
- He can be a conniving shit. He can also be a semi-caring young man, but mostly, he's just a controlling jack ass. Don't take it personally... just get on his good side.
- When it comes to Jas, it really is "The closer you look, the less you see." The more you dig, the more he closes up and shuts down. Don't ask questions you don't want the answer to, okay?
