About My Character:
Full Name:
Nicolette Marie Dawson
Age:
Fifteen - she was born on Valentines day.
Gender:
Female
Grade:
Sophomore
Sports/Clubs:
Drama, choir, cheer
Appearance:
Colette won't deny that she's pretty but she doesn't think that she's really anything special. What's so wonderful about blonde hair (which isn't even natural - she was born brunette) and brown eyes? She can tell you at least five negative things about her body and facial features if you ask her to but most people don't. She believes that she has a very plain style - she's usually in simple dresses and a cardigan of some sort. She's 5'6 so she doesn't think that she really needs heels that much plus she doesn't think blisters on her feet are worth the height. Her motto is just that comfort should always come above style even if that means going out in your pajamas and slippers.
This doesn't that she can't dress it up when she absolutely needs to but she sees no point in doing this on a daily basis. It's not good for your skin! She doesn't have acne and she credits it entirely to not caking her make up on like a damn clown prostitute.
Personality:
Colette needs to feel 'protected' at all times and she uses men to help her feel this way. It started out as her father and her brother but now it's more towards boyfriends and close personal guy friends -not done-
Background:
Colette never imagined that she'd be 'that kind of girl' - the type who got pregnant as an unwed teenager in high school. She could honestly say that a pregnancy kind of ruined her life especially when her parents made it very clear that they didn't approve of her choices and were not going to support her during this obviously difficult period of her life. She really wasn't a slut despite what everyone wrote on the bathroom wall and what her mother told her on a daily basis. She'd made a terrible awful mistake and she knew that she needed to make it right somehow. Keeping the baby was never even a thought in her mind, she knew that she couldn't be the mother that this little boy needed when she barely had ten dollars in saving from babysitting. Who was she to bring a child into the world under those circumstances?
She found the perfect couple when she was six months pregnant and she knew almost instantly that they were the people who she wanted raising her child. Molly and Marcus Hendrix were both college educated and had been trying to conceive a baby of their own for the past six years before deciding that it just wasn't worth the expense and heartbreak when they knew that there was a baby out there who needed them. They both wanted an open adoption because they felt like it was important for the child to know his biological mother but they respected her choice when she said that she couldn't emotionally handle seeing that little boy grow up without her. She made it very clear that she didn't want to know anything about him other than yearly updates from her mother basically saying that he was alive and healthy.
It might have came off as cold to not want a thing to do with him but it was only that she loved him enough to let him go. She had an emotional conversation with Molly while she was in labor and begged her to love him twice as much to make up for both his mothers' love. She never wanted him to feel like he was alone when he made mistakes.. She of all people knew how much that could ache. She expected her life to immediately go back to normal after she gave birth but nothing was the same. Her mother made it very clear that their Kentucky home was not the place for her anymore and sent her off to live in New York with her father and older brother who couldn't even stand to look at her. She finally ended up sent to Somerset and that's where everything started coming together.
She realized that nobody knew who she was here and this was finally her chance to prove her parents wrong. She decided early on that she wasn't going to be the same little heartbroken girl who regret her decision to give her baby up - she was going to be the strong cheerleader who nobody suspected was a 'victim' of teenage pregnancy.
