Full Name: Brock Peter Lane. Brock is a pretty short name.. so he really doesn't have a whole lot of nicknames. A couple people think its funny to call him Broccoli, though.
Age: 16, born on March Fifteenth. He's a sophomore this year.
Clubs/Sports: Just football. He's not interested in too much more.
Appearance: Brock is rather short, standing at only five foot five. however, making up for his height, he's a bit of a tank. with broad shoulders and hips, he's got a lot of room for muscle. and trust me when i say he's filled it all up. the kid is a beast! with a sixpack and biceps probably the size of your head, Brock is what one might call 'ripped'. sure he's not huge, i mean he's only sixteen. but he's a pretty big guy for such a short height. his hair is brown and always kept short; often he'll come to school with a buzz cut. he's got light blue eyes and a killer smile, plus his nose turns down slightly at the end. overall, its safe to say he's an attractive boy.
He sticks to the 'jock' style with basketball shorts, sweat pants, and form fitting tee's. every now and then he'll go jeans, but usually he's rocking something mesh and loose. when he was first depressed, Brock would wear wristbands every day. but lately, he's weened himself off of them and bears his thick scars. but really, they're not all too noticeable unless you have a wrist fetish.
Personality: Brock is very easily your stereotypical high school basket case. on the outside, Brock is all about having fun. he's a spaz, constantly bouncing off the walls and roaring with laughter. he knows how to have a good time and knows how to make people smile. on the outside, he's a generally likable person. caring, kind and willing to lend an ear, most people would classify him as your basic sweetheart. which he is, don't get me wrong. but that's just the outside.
this is where it get's cliche, and this is where if Brock were telling the story, he'd stop. Brock has suffered from depression for the past two years. on the inside, he's a shy and lost boy. he's hot headed and easily bothered, often thrown over the edge by the tiniest things. he's an emotional wreck and cries at almost anything that offends him. get him mad and he'll probably lash out, but be the first to apologize. he's self conscious, primarily about his looks but also about his personality. coming from a rather estranged family, Brock feels that no one really likes him. and that's why he's done his best to turn into the class clown. over the years, he's become particularly good at figuring out what makes people laugh. and when people laugh, he feels accepted. so naturally, he does whatever he can to get a rise out of the crowd.
its a horrible cover up and yes, he's dying for help. he's not that emo kid that sits in the corner and avoids everyone. he's not that loner that has no friends. he has plenty of friends, all of whom he loves to death. that's another thing aboutBrock: he'll never give up on you. though he can't help himself, he'll help you with anything you need. he's a great friend with great advice, which is ironic, really.
Background and Family Life:

dad, what is there to say about dear old dad? well, i guess we can start off with the fact that his name is Curtis. Curtis James Lane. its a pretty flowy name, sounds good, yknow? rolls off the tongue. but i guess really most things do. 'cept like.. blanket. Michael Jackson, what were you thinking? but anyway, dad and i have always been pretty close. i mean, as close as a son can get to his father, i guess. he's the one that started me on football. he'd been his high school team's quarterback and so it was his dream to have his first born son have the same history. well, sorry dad but.. i'm the linebacker. my dad and i have our off moments.. definitely probably a bit worse than most kids. i'd spent many nights in my room back home avoiding him.. but hey, life goes on, yea? yea.
in all honesty, Curtis Lane is the main cause of Brock's depression. he's a very neglecting father and practically gave up on Brock the second his younger sister started passing him up in both academic and athletic performance. he's harsh with his words and tends to blame any problems on Brock. its not sure whether or not Brock ignores these words, is used to them or what.. but he still feels a bit of a connection to Curtis. any time Brock has spoken about his depression and about the way his father treats him, he has always ended up defending Curtis in the end. its a hard concept to grasp, really. but for some reason, even though Curtis is almost entirely to blame, Brock just doesn't see that

mamaloo, that's what i call her. but all regular people in the world call her anna. anna marie (kingston) lane. well shit, her name rolls off the tongue too! anywho, mamaloo and i are on pretty good terms. it was her idea to have me attend Somerset, so i can thank her for that. .....thanks mamaloo. i guess that's really all i've got to say about her.
Anna is the mother that pretends to help. she's the mother that sits back and listens while her husband yells at her son, then only intervenes to tell them to be quiet because they'll upset the neighbors. she's a rather aloof person, always seems to be oblivious of what's going on. i mean, she's yet to notice how severely depressed her own son is. you'd think after so many years, she might've looked at his wrists. but alas, she has not. its like she's not even there. its like she's not living. a phantom mother, that's what she is. she's just there to be.. there. never once was she ever actually there to look at Brock. she never really ever sat down to have a legitimate conversation with him. all she'd say was "it'll be okay, Brock. just let it go."
zeh seester
Mackinnon. that's her name. Mackinnon Jennifer Lane. we all just call her Mack, though. Mack and i.. we're pretty close. she's fifteen, just a year younger than i so i guess that's why we can connect so easily. she's way into sports like i am, but she's a tennis player. i guess it'd be kinda weird if she played football like me. regardless, i don't hate her like most brothers hate their sisters. honestly, Mack is one of the few people in my family that i actually really, really love.
Mackinnon truly is Brock's only true family member. she's kind to him and listens when he has something serious to talk about. but still, they're not as close as they could be. Brock tends to hold a stronger bond with his friends because he doesn't have to live with them
Other: He's bisexual, but swings harder for the girls.
He's deathly afraid of the dark.
He's never been a very good swimmer, but that doesn't stop him from going to pools or beaches.
He loves anything neon.
Be prepared to hear a lot of strange noises from him.
