Name: Kyan Kiav
I know, it's a mouthful. Blame my overly creative parents for that one. It's pronounced KY-An and the last name is KEY-Ahv. By you can call me Ky for short.
Age/Grade: Kyan is sixteen, turning seventeen in August on the 23rd. He's a junior, so don't bother reminding him that he's young - he knows. When he was in sixth grade, they skipped him up to seventh grade because he was deemed 'Gifted and ready for a higher education.'
Sports/Clubs: You serious bitch? Ain't nobody got time for that shit.
Just kidding, Kyan is a dancer. He hangs out with the theatre kids because his dance class is outside of school. If you don't believe he's got moves, challenge him to a dance off. He'll kick your ass.
Appearance: Kyan is one hundred percent Asian. However, there is nothing about Kyan that says 'traditional Vietnamese teenager' at all. Fabulously flamboyant, he dresses however he wants. Often, he wears brightly colored shirts, dark jeans or khaki cargo pants, and a necklace chain or two. His favorite part of the wardrobe, however, is the footwear. He has a collection of sneakers that fills up half of his closet, most of them without a scuff, scratch or smudge. Seriously, don't mess with his shoes, he'll cut you.
Aside from clothing, Kyan is physically handsome. His hair, ever changing colors and style, is red and black and spiked in a Mohawk this month. His eyes are a dark chocolate brown that are ever watching. His skin is a tan shade of olive, something he gained from his heritage... And frequent tanning! He's muscled, but lean, from the dance he does. Ky is a summer boy; he's the one you'll see in shorts, a tank top, and a cute pair of customized sunglasses, like he jumped out of a catalogue for summer-wear.
Personality:
Intelligent: Ky has always been smart. That's why he was allowed to skip up a grade in sixth, because he was too far ahead of his class. The level up they put him in was far more suited. Now, he's not the class genius, but he gets straight A's. His parents raised him to always have his eye on scholarships and fame. Though dancing is his passion, intelligence is what he strives for. He doesn't want to be one of those dumb kids who coast through high school and get stuck in dead end jobs after they graduate. He plans on making it into Harvard, that's his dream school.
Sassy: Kyan is the kind of man who won't hold back his opinion. He's a kind guy, don't get me wrong, but if you step to him, he'll step up, too. He's got class, sass, and a whole lot of smart ass... attitude. He's always been very opinionated about things that matter to him. Don't get him started on politics or the legalization of gay marriage, he'll talk your ear off!
Immature: Ky can be the most immature little bastard. Example: when his little brother was home with him for spring break, he woke him up at eight in the morning by jumping on his bed and singing "Hakuna Matata" at the top of his lungs. If you want a party, ask for Kyan to come. He's a fun guy, you know it.
Ghetto: Yeah, it's true. He was raised a New Yorker, and is fabulously ghetto. He talks street, he fights street, he is part of the streets. Yeah, he can be a classy motherfucker when he wants to be, but its part of who he is to be immature and ridiculously ghetto. Don't hate, ok?
History: Here comes the sad stuff... Kyan was never the specifically gender oriented kid. He played with barbies, he rode his dirt bike, he danced like a ballerina and he moved with a hip hop beat. He wasn't that typical feminine gay kid who plays dress up and everyone knew that he was going to grow up gay. No, most people were surprised when he came out of the closet. He came home to his grandmother, a tiny old Vietnamese woman whom he was very close to, and announced loudly, "Grammie, I like boys. I have a crush on Jeremy Finch." She had hit him across the face, and that was the last time he ever talked to his grandmother. Many members of his extended family believed that his sexual orientation was a sin or a disgrace, and they either shunned or ignored him. Only his parents, little brother, older sister, and a few cousins are fine with it.
If it wasn't enough for him to get it at home, he got a load of shit from the kids at school as well. His fellow classmates thought it was hilarious that he was such a "pansy." Jeremy Finch tried to remain his friend, but the bullying drove him away. The girls wanted him as a shopping partner, the guys never wanted him to be near them. No one understood that it didn't change who he was to be gay. He wasn't feminine, like people wanted him to be, nor was he masculine enough for the guys to think he was cool.
In Highschool, it changed. Though the bullying got worse, he gained quite a few friends in the student body and staff. After his sophomore year, the fights he got into made his parents move him to Somerset. He doesn't mind that kids picked on him; they were ignorant for him, they would learn eventually. He missed his friends but going to a private school where he could study dance privately, make good friends, and hopefully avoid the assholes from his local school, was a good change.
<3 I know it sucks, I'm sorry.
