Inviting Oscar to go ice skating had seemed like such a cute idea until Peyton remembered that she hadn't been ice skating in about six years and even then she was't all that great. Her mother had actually given up hope that her second to last daughter would ever be able to ice skate without falling flat on her ass every five seconds. She wasn't really that bad but something about the way that her mother had never believed in her really threw her off. She actually believed that there was a decent chance that she could keep up with Oscar on the ice now! "I really hope that I don't fall a lot.. I remember falling a lot as a kid and I always hurt my poor little booty." Was it improper to mention her behind when she didn't really know Oscar that well?
Unfortunately, life did not come with a rewind button so she was just going to have to hope that Oscar didn't start thinking poorly of her because she was a nervous wreck around him. She was usually so good with boys! She wasn't a little whore or anything but she didn't normally feel like this! Her palms were sweating, her heart was nearly racing out of her chest and she found her cheeks burning whenever he looked at her. Was she starting to like him or was he making her sick? She really couldn't tell if this was the beginning of a crush or if she was in urgent need of medical attention. Maybe that was a good thing? She didn't really mind the butterflies in her tummy so much right now.
She reached for Oscar's hand when they got close to the ice and didn't let go off it even as she stepped onto the rink. This was harder than she remembered! She almost immediately fell flat on her ass with a small thud which was quite embarrassing since Oscar was there. She stood up as quickly as she could and decided that she was going to hold onto the railing on the side and Oscar's hand at all times. "Sorry... I guess that I'm not as good as I thought that I was."

When Peyton invited Oscar to go ice skating, he was honestly surprised. He didn't really know her that much. As far as small conversations went. She, however, did interest him a lot. It may have just seen to the eye that Peyton was careless and all that stuff but Oscar felt like she was more than that. That's why he accepted her invitation.
He had been ice skating before and he was alright. Not figure skating material but he knew how to balance properly. Of course he did. Oscar was smooth as the ice on the rink he was standing on. He laughed when Peyton was telling him about how she always used to fall on her butt whenever she went ice skating. "Well, I'll be here to hold your hand if you want me to." he stated with a nod.
When Peyton took hold of his hand, he felt this warm feeling inside of his whole blood flow. They probably looked like a couple although they weren't one but they must have looked like a very nice one considering that some folks were staring at him. "Holy-" he pretty much panicked when she fell. It was as if he didn't want her to get hurt or was more concerned than he had to be.
"It's okay. Come on, just hold on tightly to my hand." Oscar said, helping her up with a bright smile on his face. He started skating very slowly, wanting to teach her how to skate with baby steps. He didn't want to pressure her into learning so fast. Oscar also recalled those Facebook posts Peyton had made. Not the ones about her dog but the ones about her love life. He didn't immediately think they were about him but they could possibly be?
"So, you seem a little love deprived from your facebook posts." Oscar said, looking to her and raising an eyebrow, "Everything okay?" he asked her.

Oscar's concern for her safety filled Peyton with a joy that she couldn't describe if she wanted to. He was willing to hold her hands so she didn't get hurt! How many guys would that for a girl that they barely knew? She held on tightly to his hand even though she knew that it wasn't necessary for her to. There were people staring at them and she sort of wondered what they were thinking about them right now. Did they think that they were an adorable little couple or were they wondering what Oscar was doing with someone who was so much less attractive than him?
Now, Peyton knew that she was a very pretty girl. She wasn't like her sister who didn't believe in her outer beauty. She saw herself as a very beautiful girl but she wasn't dumb enough to think that she could anything and everyone that she wanted just because of that. Oscar was going to need to like her appearance and her personality. What if he thought that she looked really good but had a terrible, boring awful personality and it made him want to punch her in the face? He was such a wonderful person that she couldn't imagine him doing that though.
She raised a brow when he asked her about her messages on Facebook. Was it possible that he had figured out that he had figured out that the messages were about him? She thought that she had been very careful not to include any names or anything but maybe he just felt more than she had imagined that he could. "I guess that I'm a little love deprived, I supposed. I mean I'm not like desperate for love so I'm not going to just date the first person who shows interest but if a certain person that I know happened to ask me out then I wouldn't be opposed."
Was that casual enough or had she just revealed her crush to him? "Do you ever just feel like everyone is around you is in love and you're the only loser who can't find someone? Like, that's how I feel right now. My sisters are all dating and my brother has Lydia. I guess that I'm just feeling jealous." She knew that she needed to work on that whole thing because jealousy isn't a healthy thing to feel but she just couldn't seem to shake it right now.

What Oscar said had come out too straightforward. He was generally that type of person. Beating around the bush would only waste time. He took very small steps, making sure that Peyton was balancing. The last thing he wanted was for her to fall again. He'd fallen a couple of times and it actually really hurts.
That was true. Oscar realized that Peyton and him were very alike. They weren't desperate for love but would welcome it if it were to come. He figured she was feeling poetic that day. Who knows? He wasn't going to fret about it, to be honest. It wasn't like Oscar to run after anyone, he was much more different. Unlike Mark, who would stop at nothing to get the person he supposedly felt to love. Maybe Oscar just didn't want the cops to show up at his street at eleven at night making a big deal about his stubbornness.
Although, he did imagine that it made Mark proud of himself. Perhaps even happy. Oscar thought about this when Peyton brought up sightseeing her family. He had seen her gloat about her sister's relationship but he didn't think all love was the same. Oscar would have liked to create a love story of his own than to make a copy. He was just that kind of person.
"I see where you're coming from." Oscar nodded before looking down to the ice then continuing, "I don't pay too much attention though. I want love to just happen without any effort. Something natural, I guess." he shrugged, smiling slightly.

"I supposed that I just really long for the companionship of being in a relationship. I would love to know that my partner cares as much for my happiness as I do for their's and I would like to know that it wasn't just a one way thing if that makes sense." Peyton didn't long for a relationship where she was the queen and her beau was the ever so loyal man who gave into every little whim that she felt. She wanted to be one half of a whole and she couldn't imagine herself ending up with anyone who wasn't okay with that.
"I see what you mean with the whole happening without effort thing.. I think that it's worth the wait sometimes because really great things take time." Even her sister's perfect marriage had taken time, hadn't it? Esme had gone from 'in love' with Dallas to Mark to Wyatt to Hudson before she landed on Hudson and even then she believed that she was in love with Anthony, Aiden and Mark again when she and Jon had broken up for those horrible five months.
She held on just a little tighter to his hand than she needed to. It wasn't that she felt like she was going to fall or anything, she just wanted to hold his hand and maybe one day he'd feel the same way. She could see something in Oscar that she couldn't see in other people. She could just sense that he wasn't like everyone else which was refreshing when everyone at their school fell into the same cookie cutter categories. She wasn't going to lie now and say that she was any different than anyone else - blonde, popular, pretty.. Related to Esme. She was just one of four Reynolds girls at this school, nothing special about that especially when she wasn't even the one who got all of the attention.
Growing up in a family like her's with a sister like Esme had been difficult to say the least. Affection was always given to Esme as their father simply loved her more and their mother was far too busy trying to support a household to give all of her children her undivided attention. She couldn't blame her though since she had to somehow manage to pay off all of William's gambling debts, the bills and all of the money that he took to buy beer, drugs or prostitutes. "Do you ever wonder what other people are thinking about?" It might have seemed random but it was simply because she was currently wondering why people were staring at them.
