Kevin and Dallas had just arrived back at the apartment. This was the first time Dallas had been back since the accident and he was really looking forward to seeing Kat and Arturo. When he stepped inside, he looked around for his kitty who had been taking a nap on the couch. The second the little fur ball saw him, he leaped from the couch and ran little circles around his feet. "Awe, hey buddy." Dallas greeted, the cat meowing back to him. The pair walked to their room as Dallas and Kevin dropped off his bags in his room. "Hey, I've got to get to work, Rodney called in again." Kevin said, slapping his hand down on Dallas' shoulder. "Fuck, watch it man! I'm frag-ee-le!" Dallas laughed off the throbbing that attacked his collar bone and arm. "Sorry! I forget. You should wear a bright pink shirt that says 'do not touch merchandise.' Ha! I'm going to get you one." Kevin joked, checking his phone. "I've gotta go, I'll see you later, man." "Oh, hey, call before you come home.. Kat's coming over and I don't know what she has planned." Dallas said, shaking his head. After Kevin left, Dallas dug around and started to put his things away, most of them going into his dirty clothes hamper. He came across a pair of clean shorts and slipped them on instead of his jeans. He checked the time and figured thirty minutes wasn't too early to take his next dose of pain medication, so he grabbed a sprite from the fridge, popped open the cap and dropped two in his mouth. They didn't make him that loopy, but twenty minutes later, he was definitely feeling the side effects. Instead of trying to wash the dishes with one usable arm, he made his bed and laid atop the covers as he waited for Kat to show up. Arturo curled up next to his face, his purring like a lullaby which made Dallas doze off.

Kat had actually been considering herself back with Dallas since she saw him in the hospital and had been back every chance she got since. Of course, it was nice to have him officially asking again, even if it was just over the phone. She was also glad to be back at his apartment, rather than her depressing dorm. When she was in there, all she thought about now was the RA rushing in on Monday and telling her to not come out. It was especially lucky that she was back with him, because Genevieve's wake was tomorrow, and there was no way she could get through that without his support.
She used the old key he'd given her and let herself in. She had a bag of items for a few days on her shoulder — toiletries, clothes, food she knew he wouldn't have, prenatal vitamins, and her outfits for the wake and funeral. It was a good thing she had a stock pile of clean panties here, because she'd started stealing Esme's. She also had a dirty laundry bag that she was going to make him wash for her. Of course, she'd separate them so her whites wouldn't become pink, but still. He was still in the doghouse, no matter how banged up he was. She placed her things on the couch and scurried to the bathroom as soon as she walked in. Baby was sitting right on her bladder these days, so she was constantly having to pee. When she was finished, she checked herself in the mirror, feeling glad that she hadn't bothered with makeup like she'd been doing since their breakup. Without him calling her his hot Latina she didn't feel as pretty, so she slapped on some layers, but now that they were back together she didn't see much of a point.
It was right then that she realized she'd walked in without seeing him. Usually he would be watching tv on the couch or something, so that was a little off. "Dal?" She called, walking out of the bathroom. She knocked once on his door and then saw him laying on the bed. She smiled. "Well hey there, stranger." She walked into the room and laid across the bed on her back. "I missed this." She looked at him for a minute and then said, "I mean...the bed. Not you." She tried to keep a straight face, but then she broke and started laughing. She crawled up to the head of the bed where he was and gave him a kiss.
"I'm so glad you're home, baby," she wrapped her arms around his neck as gently as she could and rested her head on his shoulder.

Dallas wasn't really sure how long he had passed out for but he jolted awake to the sound of a knock at his door. His first thought was that it was Kevin and then he remembered that he was home and Kat was supposed to come over. "Hey, Kit-Kat," he greeted with a deep groggy voice, that sexy kind that men don't realize they do.
Arturo had left his pillow so he bunched it up behind his shoulders and pushed himself up a little bit. He gave a playful frown when she joked that she only missed his bed and not him which could have been partly true for all he knew. "The way that damn cat is rubbing all over you, look like he missed you more than he did me." Dallas leaned into her kiss, something he still missed so much.
"It's good to be home. And it's good to have you here, too. Because whether or not you missed it, I did." He laughed and pulled her in closer against his chest. He kind of hoped she remembered not to put a whole lot of pressure on his right side like Kevin had. He trailed his fingers over the noticeable baby bump and a tiny smile crept onto his face. "It's a good look for you, y'know."

Kat followed his hand with her eyes. "You have to say that," she mumbled. She wasn't used to being this size. She hadn't been able to fit into her jeans for weeks, and she didn't want to stretch out her shirts, so it was a good thing Motherhood Maternity gave her an employee discount. It was also impossible for her to feel sexy. She just wanted to jump his bones, but she also felt like a whale and didn't want to put him through having to look at her naked. He could lie all he wanted to, but she just did not feel pretty at all.
She pulled his hand away from her belly and laced her fingers with his. It was nice just being here with him again. No pushy nurses or creepy hospital walls. She would be glad if she never had to go back to that place again. Which reminded her... "We have a midwife appointment soon," she said randomly. "December 28th...I mean, I guess that isn't soon, but we get to find out the sex of our baby." She was really hoping for a girl. She'd been writing her mom, and they were both sure Kat had a baby girl in her belly. Sara Sofia and Esme thought so, too, and Dallas had agreed when they talked earlier. Having that many people believing the same thing seemed like a sure sign to her.

"I don't have to say anything. You know I think you're beautiful." Dallas chuckled through his nose knowing that she didn't see what he saw. Esme was like that too. Were all pregnant women like that? Not thinking that they were pretty because they were harboring a tiny spawn? He sighed, knowing there wasn't ever any winning with her so instead, Dallas just rested his chin on the top of her head and stared at the signatures on his cast.
"I'll ask off work so I can be there." He said. He ran his thumb over hers to the best of his ability and wished he could lay on his side without feeling that dagger sting in his collarbone. "I''m kind of hoping it's a girl, but I mean, a boy wouldn't be bad either. I feel like I would be more protective over a baby girl, y'know?" He said, putting his hand back over her bump.
The whole time he'd been in the hospital, he had been reading up on some of the books that Esme had brought him about pregnancy and what to expect for the expecting father. Dallas had gotten pretty intrigued by all the stages and developments that both bodies went through and he had so many questions that he wasn't even sure how to start asking them all. So, he started with the one that sounded the most fun. "Can you feel her moving yet? When can I feel? What's it feel like?" Arturo had long since jumped back onto the bed and announced his presence by flicking his tail across Dallas' mouth as if to tell him to shut up. "Move, asshole." He laughed, waving him away.

Kat smiled at how excited he seemed about the baby. "I can feel her, yeah. It feels like..." She pursed her lips, trying to think of how to describe it. She picked up his hand that wasn't on her tummy. She ran her fingers across his palm tickling it. "Kind of like that. Like a soft little flutter on the inside of my belly. And it's even better knowing that it's our baby, you know? It's a little human that we created and she's moving around inside of me. I just feel really lucky."
She felt herself getting choked up thinking about this child. And the fact that had it not been for her perfect timing, Kat would have gone through with the abortion. "You know how I said that I was going to...take care of this pregnancy when we got in our fight?" She looked down and held her hand over his on her belly. "She's the reason I didn't. It was like...like she knew. Not in a bad way. But...I was there in the clinic, and I started thinking about you. And just like that...she moved. And then I walked right out of there." She smiled up at him. "She does a little dance whenever you cross my mind now. I'm not sure if it's just because my heart beats quicker, or if she knows, but it's really amazing." She stopped for a second. "She's moving now. I don't know if you can feel her but...I think she knows she's near her daddy." She ran her fingers through his hair and kissed his forehead. So bad things had happened in their past. Whatever. The past was behind them, and dammit it their future was going to be amazing. She was sure of it, and so was the little person in her belly.

He smiled when she fluttered her fingers across his palm. He liked the idea of it being their baby verses just hers that he was kind of a part of. She sounded just as excited as he did when they talked about it, but his smile slowly faded when she mentioned their fight and the things she had threatened him with. Dallas only faintly remembered her on the first night he had come to see him in the hospital. He hadn't ever expected her to show up, let alone still carried their little passenger which he had decided was the reason he was getting back to par so quickly. He had two somethings to be there for, if nothing else.
Dallas listened as she told him about why she hadn't gone through with it. His smile came back into a cute grin and sat up, one leg straight, the other folded in. How could something so small be so alive and characterized already? "Is she?" He asked, wanting to put his hand on her abdomen but held back knowing he wouldn't be able to feel anything yet. "I want to meet her already." He pouted but was reassured by Kat's kiss to his forehead.
"I love you, Kit-Kat." He said, laying back down on his back and pulling her onto him despite the little ting of pain that came to his shoulder. Dallas was running his not stupidly broken hand up and down her back before slightly pulling her dress-shirt thing far up enough that he could slip his fingers between the cloth and her skin. They were both kind of knocked up and around one way or another so he wasn't completely sure how he would go about being sweetly intimate with her. "Kat? Can we try something? I think you'd like it."

Kat furrowed her eyebrows. "Are you going to buy me Captain Burrito? Because I really would like that." She paused, "And also Dunkin Donuts. And McDonalds...Can we get food?" She didn't realize until after she broke through he food fantasies that he was probably talking about something else. Something they hadn't done since she started showing.
"Oh!" She said once she saw his face. "Oh, that..." she giggled a little and buried her face in his neck. "Baby, you know I want to. But I don't want to break you. We aren't exactly...gentle, or have you forgotten?" She brought her head back up and looked into his eyes. She missed him. Not even just sexually, she had just missed being this close to him. Even before he was an idiot and nearly killed himself. Their fight had been terrible. But now they were back together, and as far as she could tell...better than ever.

"I'm not that delicate." He said, trying to push himself up. He winced at the pain that shot through his shoulder and laid back down. "Okay.. maybe I'm a little fragile. We could just.. go easy I guess?" He sighed and looked to her before cracking a half smile. As much as he wanted to, it probably wasn't a good idea until he was able to at least move around without feeling like his collarbone was going to snap in half again. He was frustrated with himself but he hoped she wasn't picking up on it.
"Well, since I'm broken and you're hungry why don't I order us some takeout and you can pick out a movie on Netflix or something? Or we've got dvd's... well, you know where they are. I don't- I dunno, I'm blaming my pain meds. Captain Burrito?" He said, fumbling his casted arm for his broken phone. The shattered glass reminded him of his totaled car and his mood went from good to sad but he shook it off and dialed the number. He ordered their food, and paid over the phone. "They said thirty minutes." Dallas got up and pulled his pants back into place from being bunched up as he walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. "You can't have pop, right? We've got fruit punch and Capri Suns and some of Kevin's Sunny D." God, they needed to go grocery shopping.

Kat couldn't help but smile at Dallas. He was so cute when he said things like pop. She'd always grown up saying soda, but it was adorable when her little Southern thang said his cute words.
Wait, isn't pop a Northern thing? They say coke down south...Fuck. My poor baby's confused. That's like a Scottish Korean.
"I can have it, but in small amounts. It's the caffeine," she said as she followed him to the kitchen. "I'll take a Capri Sun." Dallas seemed a little down now that she'd told him no sex. It wasn't like she didn't want to. She wanted to ride him like a stallion, but she wasn't going to break him! But that didn't mean a little oral wasn't okay. "We have thirty minutes?" She asked him, raising her eyebrows. "I think that's enough time." Before he could ask her what she was talking about, she was on her knees in the middle of the kitchen, tugging at his belt.
Once she had it undone, she pulled his pants down, leaving him only in his boxers. She looked up at him and smiled. "Someone's excited," she commented before pulling his underwear down and taking him into her mouth. She really hoped Kevin didn't walk in anytime soon. This would be a hella awkward thing to find in your kitchen.
