Full name:
Jonathan Jacob Russel
Age: 17
Gender:
Male
Sport/Club: Football
Appearance
Jonathan is a pretty average height, standing at 6'1. His eyes, depending on the lighting, may be seen as hazel or brown. He has a natural dark, tan skin tone. His build is slightly above average, he has pretty toned muscles, isn't scrawny but not bulky either.
Personality
Most people see Jonathan as a chill, quiet guy. He doesn't really talk to anyone other than his own friends, and he won't really talk to a person unless he wants to -- literally. He won't say a word if you approach him first, unless you guys have already established some type of friendship with the boy, or if you're extremely attractive. You can go on and on trying to make conversation, and all he will do is nod and chuckle. It's nothing too personal, he'd just rather not have to deal with anybody unless they've proven to be worth his time. Because of this, people might see him as cocky or selfish.
If given the chance, once you have gotten to know Jonathan, you'd see that he's a pretty mellow, funny guy. He uses sarcasm quite a lot, and has a dry sense of humor. The reason for him having stuck around so many of his friends is that he's very dependable; if you're ever stranded somewhere, need a ride home, he wouldn't hesitate to drop whatever he's doing to come help you out.
Jonathan, despite his lack of attendance, is actually pretty good at school, he just doesn't have the motivation to try. He's gone through the first three years just getting by, all he wants to do is to get out of there. He has pretty good behavior during class. He usually just sits in the back, listens to music, trying to stay out of everyone's way in order to remain unnoticed by them all. Once in a while he may have an outburst or two, if egged on by a teacher.
He's not really into the whole relationship scene, not since the whole Cassidy incident. Girls might like him, but, despite it being almost two years since what happened, he's convinced himself that he's not ready to get into anything. Nothing serious, at least. Jonathan usually sticks to just hooking up, if given the chance to, but he just can't emotionally connect with anyone. He doesn't seem to want to. It would have to take quite an amazing girl to pry open his heart again in order for him to be ready. Jon's a typical guy. He's fine with keeping things casual with people, having friends with benefits -- if he finds someone attractive, he'll flirt, but don't expect him to make a commitment to an actual relationship. He really hates to make a girl cry, but he'd rather hurt a girl with his honesty than lead them on with a lie.
If you're friends with Jonathan, he may come to be pretty possessive. Not in a creepy sort of "You're mine FOREVER" sort of way, but, if he feels that you are starting to drift, he'll do his best to try and keep you around. At the first sight of you leaving, he may start to feel like you're abandoning him. He's sensitive, though he doesn't try to show it all too often, being a guy and all.
Background story
In elementary school, Jonathan was always lively, happy, smiling. He was just a burst of positive energy. He loved school, always tried to be involved with school activities, joining the soccer team -- the boy just seemed to make the best of his childhood. Everyone saw him as this happy little kid... but, things soon changed.
When Jonathan started off fifth grade, his dad had gotten laid off from work. Money became tight, and his mom had to start taking on more work hours in order to help keep up with their financials. His dad didn't take it too hard at first, thinking he'd find a job in no time. With his work experience, they'd be able get out of this rut, right? But, no. As time went on, Jeremiah Russel remained unemployed. His attitude began to change. He was no longer the upbeat, supportive father Jonathan had grown up with, and his son noticed this. One day, Jonathan came home from school with a card he'd made for his father. On the cover was a picture the boy had drawn of the two together, and on the inside, read, I love you, dad! Leaving it on his father's nightstand, Jonathan went to his room, waiting for his dad to come over to thank him.
The boy waited and waited, but his dad never showed up to his room. Jonathan was confused. He walked over, back to his parents' room, but no one was there. He noticed the closet door had remained open, and he walked over. At that same time, he heard the front door open -- his mom had arrived home, but Jonathan ignored it... something didn't seem right. He approached the closet, and as he got closer, he screamed. His dad had been hanging there, for who knows how long.
The following months of school, Jonathan's mood had changed drastically. He wasn't happy or smiling anymore. No eleven year old should have witnessed what he had witnessed. Nobody knew what to do, or what to tell him. He felt alone. Isolated. As the years went by, he started to grow angry. Why would his dad just leave him like this? As he started his teenage years, he and his mother began to take it out on each other, blaming one another for his father's death. The boy would run away on multiple occasions, and would sometimes be away from home for weeks on end. His mother wouldn't even care to file a missing person's report. She wanted him gone, she didn't care. At least, that's how Jon saw it.
There was one situation in sophomore year that Jon was involved in, with a girl. Cassidy Simmons. Brunette with pretty green eyes -- she was cute, and Jon took a liking to her. They went to difference schools, having met each other at the mall, but they still managed to make their relationship work. A lot of people didn't want them together. Cassidy's parents thought Jon was a bad influence on her, Cassidy's friends kept accusing Jon of trying to "hit on" them, which of course wasn't true at all. The two of them could've cared less what anyone thought, they were two teenagers, and Jon wouldn't let anyone destroy whatever they had. He loved her.
One Friday night during summer, Jon had picked Cassidy up in the middle of the night. They hadn't really made a plan yet of where to go, all they knew was that they wanted to get out of there, be together, do something, anything. Jon was driving without a license, as he was only fifteen at the time. They were on the freeway, when the two started to argue. Jon had brought up the idea of running away, dropping everything, and just skipping town... but Cassidy didn't want that. Jon continued to press on the subject, being the hard-headed boy he was, not wanting to take "no" for an answer. Cassidy began ordering him to take her back home, but Jon refused. Somewhere along the way, he stopped paying attention to the road, and the car swerved, colliding right into another.
While Jon had only suffered from a broken collar bone and a few other minor injuries, something wasn't quite right with Cassidy. Jon wasn't allowed out of his room, and the doctors wouldn't tell him a thing about what had happened to the girl. He hated that. He hated it when people wouldn't tell him anything, he needed to know what happened to her. Going against hospital policy, he left his room, searching aimlessly for Cassidy, until he spotted the girl's parents. Demanding answers, he asked them what they knew, but they wouldn't say a word to him about what happened, all they would say was, "It's your fault", three words Jon hated to hear.
Jon went on for months trying to get a hold of Cassidy and her family, he tried talking to her friends, but they wanted nothing to do with the boy. Rumors had spread that Jon had purposely crashed the car, just to keep the girl around. Even more rumors spread when Jon dropped out of school during second semester of sophomore year. People thought he'd went to juvie, though that rumor died down when people spotted him doing community service at a local park. Jonathan was at a low point, but he refused to let anything get to him. He'd be strong. He wouldn't be like his father.
It wasn't until the middle of junior year, when Jon returned to school, that he had found out what happened to Cassidy. He spotted one of her friends, pushing the girl in a wheelchair across the parking lot. That devastated Jonathan. He couldn't believe what he had done to her. Normally, he would have ran up to her, tried to talk to her, get on his knees and apologize... but at the moment, something in him ticked. He did that to her, and all he cared about was having the girl to himself, not even thinking about what she wanted. But that would change. He didn't want to be that person anymore. Just looking at all the destruction he'd caused, Jon was ashamed.
As the year went by, Jon was still angry, but he kept his feelings bottled up, trying to keep calm, putting his past behind him. He has tried fixing his relationship with his mother, and it's been repaired, for the most part, as he hasn't ran away in the past year. He tries to lay low, out of peoples' way. Jon started attending group therapy, every Thursday after school, which helps him not to explode, with all his built up emotions. He's still working on himself, trying to change. One day at a time... that's what they say, right?
