'That sucks', Rosie replied, and she was going to leave it there. From her own experience she knew how annoying it could be when people pryed too much. Sometime's she didn't mind, but she didn't know Baker too well. Who was to say that he wouldn't get overly emotional and start crying on her or something.
'This is gonna sound weird, but, do you wanna come up to my room, I kinda hate it down here', she suggested. In a lot of movies going up to a girls room was like to holy grail. Guarenteed sexy times, but that wasn't Rosie's intention. The living room was just so different to the one back in Ohio, and she wanted to leave. Without waiting for an answer she climbed the first couple steps and looked back down at Baker with a slight smile on her lips.

Baker nodded when she asked if he wanted to go up to her room. When she smiled, he offered one back and headed up the stairs. "How do you like New York?" he asked on his way up, stopping when he got to the top seeing as there were a couple different rooms, any of which could've been her's. "I moved here from Chicago when my parents died.. I don't think its all so bad, though," he added after a moment and turned his head to look at all the rooms. A couple of the doors were open and he spotted the bathroom. That was always something Baker looked for. I mean, what was he supposed to do if he suddenly had to use the little boy's room?

'I haven't actually been to the city yet, but this part is quite nice', Rosie replied, heading to her bedroom door and pushing it open she gestured for him to go in first, to be polite, or whatever. Once he'd walked in she shut the door behind them. It felt nice to be back in her space, and she visably relaxed as she went over and sat on the chest at the bottom of her bed.
'I mean, any place where the neighbours come and bring you cake has to be good right?', she added, thinking about the cake downstairs on the table. It made her hungry and she hated the feeling. Leaning over to the bed she picked up her backpack and rooted through it. After a moment she pulled out a pack of Malbrough Menthols and a lighter, she opened the pack and pulled out a cigarette and stuck it between her lips, 'Want one?', she asked Baker, holding out the pack to him.

Baker took a look around the room, trying to take in all the little details. He was a sucker for interior decorating. The colorful lights were a nice touch.. something he'd definitely consider for his own room. Head tilted back, Baker pivoted on his heel to get one last 360 look. It was definitely a cute room.
As he came around to the front again, Baker stopped in shock as there was a pack of cigarettes being pushed towards him. "Ahh no that's okay, I don't smoke," he said a bit awkwardly. Now its not like he was gonna hate her forever for smoking.. his uncle smoked quite a bit. And so did lots of his friends, really.. I mean honestly, if he could put up with Bo Costello and Danny Dubois he could put up with this new girl. And this was just a cigarette. Bo and Danny smoked.. other things. "You want me to open a window..? I mean, I don't want your room to get all smokey. Its a nice room," he tried to joke, even though he was being serious. "And really, I love your room. Which sounds horribly gay to say but whatever."

Rosie shrugged and lit her cigarette inhaling deeply and then letting out a long trail of smoke from her lips. 'Probably should open a window, yeah', Rosie replied, she hadn't really thought about it. Absent mindedly she walked over to the nearest window and pushed it open, then sat down on the window ledge and looked back at Baker.
'You really love it?', Rosie asked, ignoring his comment about it being gay to think that. Rosie didn't really like thinking like that. 'It's pretty nice I guess, not as nice as the room I had before though', she added, with a sigh, as she averted her gaze out of the window.

"Yea my room is a hole in the ground compared to this. I'm really diggin' the chalkboard walls," Baker said, approaching one of her walls and running a finger down it. He never understood how there was a paint that when dry somehow magically turned into a chalkboard. It was a foreign wizardry to him. "Can I draw something on it?" he asked rather cutely, turning his head to look at her. "It'll be small, I swear."
"And no but really, my room is like.. so boring. I live in my aunt and uncle's garage. Like, above the garage. And its neat I guess but.. bland," he said after a moment, looking at his shoes which he probably should've taken off at the door. He always felt bad about wearing his shoes in someone's house.

'Yeah you can draw on it', Rosie smiled, happy that he liked the wall so much. It was one of her favorite parts of the room. Cigarette still gripped between her lips she did a little skip across the room from the window to a little box sat on some drawers.
'Here's some chalk', she said, holding out the box to him. 'Also, this room is above the garage', she added, feeling that it was necessary to tell him, 'We have so much in common', she joked, even though it was a pretty truthful statement.

"OMG we're like twins," Baker joked with a broad smile as he took the chalk from her. He thought for a moment, tapping the tip of the chalk against his chin. Slowly, he moved the chalk to the wall and started to draw a pair of eyes. He wasn't a very good artist, but he planned to draw a cute little puppy anyway.
"So would it be awkward to ask how you lost your parents?" he asked kind of quietly. He didn't mean to pry, and he would completely understand if she didn't want to talk about it. But he figured if they were gonna be neighbors (and if they had this much in common already) he'd have to find out sometime, right?

Rosie, having now finished her cigarette, flicked the stub out of the window and went to sit down on the bed. Head cocked a little to one side she watched as Baker began drawing on the walls, trying to work out what it was.
'A little awkward yeah', Rosie replied, but she was smiling, she liked awkward. Awkward was a part of life. Besides, it was better he found out from her now, so he could stop wondering about it. 'They just died, Elliot family curse apparently', Rosie let out a little laugh, but there was no feeling behind it, 'They didn't even get sick, just died in the night, they were only twenty-six and twenty-eight', she added with a sigh. Frowning she looked down and bit her lip, trying not to over-think the story too much, it'd just make her angry.
'What about yours, or would you rather not say?', she asked, pulling her knees up under her chin she hugged her legs to her and looked at Baker.
